Has any dealt with or heard of toy box specialist cars in tamworth ?

I was interested in this car to replace the Indy

Any advice or input welcome

Thanks

Stu

'The Gaffer'

Never heard of the company so cant comment.

Personally I would prefer to buy private, you can get an idea about how passionate or not the the seller is about what work has been done and to what standard, a dealer will tell you anything.

It looks like a very tidy car in the pics (although slightly over saturated to bring out the colours), but if were me I'd try to hold out for something without carbs - much less agro in the long term.

Just my 2 pence :)

How about this well spec'd Sylva Striker http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2765174.htm

Well praised cars for many years :) And I expect this one will be very quick.

Doesent say its road legal though.

stupott901

Yeah saw that one I sent a email asking if it was road legal

The blue one looks nice on piston heads but not too sure about the engine being a k series  though

I was thinking of going to stoneliegh on Sunday as the Germany exercise has been delayed io it worth having a look there for a car ???

Toybox is a hit and miss and not very respected by some. I think thats because he is in it to make money and this upsets Westy owners.

Anyway, it doesn't look bad for the money.

There will be plenty at the show to choose from and I would be happy to give you a tour of things to look out for at Stoneleigh

Hi dave

Thanks for the advice

And I will have a look at the show

Will you be at the club stand?

Don't let a Rover K Series put you off, both Dave Bence & I have them, once you sort out the thermostat position, replace plastic dowels for metal ones and get the liner heights sorted the engine is superb.  Like everything from the British motor industry, they so nearly got it right but a few stupid things ruined the reputation.  Once these are sorted you will have a very light powerful engine with excellent power & torque.  Dave & I both have the 1.8 VVC with the DVA power upgrade to 175BHP on factory mapping.  Bits are plentiful and cheap as chips to pick up.

More information can be found on Daves website www.davebence.co.uk

Thats what i thinking it was on pistonheads last week for 6795 just trying to find out where they are based

paintman

It's in Hereford from the ad. Stu......you'll need the wipers and heater or you're be back with your helmet on again ..... but nice little project to tinkle with. ;)

stupott901

Tony hadn't noticed the lack of wipers bummer

'The Gaffer'

Very tidy looking car, if not a bit high at the back? Maybe ride height just needs a tweak.

I wouldent worry too much about wipers if the price is right. I'm sure its not a tough job to fit.

There is a bit of a history feature on the Striker in March/Aprils tkc mag, quite an interesting read.
