Moleman

I have been asked if anyone would like to do a convoy to Cheddar Gorge.
Details will follow closer to the date as I know some of you guys have done this before so I would like some feedback as to what you guys normally do?  :D
I'm thinking of a nice scenic route to the gorge & ending up driving down through the gorge & parking up somewhere in cheddar.

Suggestions of route, time & where we would like to start the convoy will be welcome.
Where we start from will mostly be down to who is up for it & where people will be coming from?  :)
Also where would be good to we meet up with the guys coming up to cheddar as well.  :)

So who would like to join the run out to Ceddar gorge?  :D

Date for this will be 25th August.  :)

WALNUT

Im up for it

A couple of months ago Dixie and I found a brill pub at the bottom of the Gorge - guess where I will be heading  :o

Dixie is off to do snow boarding as he said in Ibiza ( wow what a weather forecast for August over there)  ;) he's keen on the white stuff

Moleman

Which pub mate? you going to this then?  :)

The Pub is called the Riverside.  Just over the little bridge by the round about.  Free parking for all those using the pub.

Knowing my luck with the weather, it will snow in Ibiza.

Hairy Santa

the one right at the bottom on the roundabout , ye I am hoping to

'The Gaffer'

Sorry, Sundays dont always work for me, but its a possibility :(

Bulldog Bri

Have we got a time for this run yet? Morning run and lunchtime pub, me finks. Quieter roads and easier parking.  ;)

8)

Moleman

Morning sounds good with a pub lunch.  :)
I'm thinking meet at the lockside cafe on Brunel lock rd. near the Nova Scotia pub. I have found this a good meeting point for heading south,  thanks to Hairy Santa.
I'm thinking either 9am or 10am, what do you think? Please let me know.  :)

Route not done yet so please feel free to suggest a route you think would be good?

So please say what time you would like? & route you think would be good? Even if you fancy a long way round to cheddar. it doesn't have to be a direct route/ ;D

'The Gaffer'

If I can make a Sunday it would be 10am for me.

How about this route? Its about 29 miles and has some main roads plus some twisties for a bit of fun.

WALNUT

I dont mind which route we take, but if we want quiet roads, and plenty of parking when we get there the earler we start the better. Late starters can always meet up there, and if we space out our parking they will be able to park with us, if and when they get there.

Looks like it will be a 10am meet then.  :)
The meeting point hasn't been arranged yet I'm thinking start of in town (Lockside cafe, hotwells) as we will be going up the a37 to start with? or maybe the Riverside pub?
What do you think?

WALNUT

I like the sound of the riverside pub, but willing to do what others want.
                                                                                               WALLNUT

Griff

Afraid I'm in deepest France then  :( - will keep an eye out for the next outing  :D

Just re-MOT'd and about to rebuild the brakes after the return trip to Le Mans I undertook earlier in the summer (981.1 miles for all distance fans)

Griff

Moleman

Sounds like a nice drive mate. :)
no probs see you next time.

WALNUT

I will be waiting in the lay by just outside whitchurch, at the bottem of the steep hill, and join in as you go by.

paintman

I'll meet you on route at The Mendip Inn, which is opposite where you will turn off the A37 for Cheddar....any idea what time you'll be there? ::)

Moleman

that will be fine. We should probably be there between 10.45-11am mate.

Iancider

If this goes ahead I might be able to meet you guys there but I will have to arrive in a tin can cos I ain't got an IVA yet - just got to check diary with wifey

Moleman

Ok Slight change of plan as most people are coming from the west side of Bristol.
Meet up at Durley hill bus lane at 9.45am.  (if your coming along the ring road from kingswood, when you get to the keynsham roundabout go straight across if you are heading for keynsham, then turn first right).
This should be easier for Wallnut & Yellabelly to meet there.  :)

Head off at 10am, heading for the A37.

After we pass through gurney slade we stop at the Mendip Inn pub to meet up with Paintman.

then from there turn on to the B3135 straight down through Cheddar gorge. then park up at the riverside pub for some food refreshments.
what do you think?  :)

johnboy

do you  guys mind if i turn up on sunday weather permitting? dont really know that area well so peeps if you see a purple tiger driving around aimlessly give us a toot :-[
