Spent some time with my boy today and came up with this.

That is funny. You can bring it to the show next Saturday & park it next to yours. ;)
Sweet!! But it was Meccano in my day, just loved that stuff.

I totally agree with you on that one Gaffer. Tbh I cannot understand why Lego has taken off and Meccano died a death, it was far better and you could do so much more with it. It has been the start point for many an engineer for sure!
Agreed,
If you flexed a joint you could remove the tip of a finger and if you held the spanner right you could always draw blood. That's proper engineering isn't it - I've never done that with Lego. Even when you drop a brick on your toe it doesn't feel like building either! :P :P :P

Look what the modern Meccano looks like :o

Don't care what my son wants for Christmas he is getting some of this :P
A very nice attempt at an Ariel Atom no doubt?
Meccano looks great but like everything for kids these days it's a lot easier to put together than in my day. Half the work is done for you! That's progress I guess.
Much easier and another problem is you buy a kit and you can only build one thing with it. Progress?

Haven't they got an app' for Lego? Wouldn't want the lit'luns wearing themselves out ;D ;D
In 100 years time children will have thumbs on average an inch longer and wider then today due to all the electronic devices they use for sending messages!!!!! True story :o
