Title: Broken Renault
Post by: Bulldog Bri on 01, October, 2010, 01:13:49 PM
My Renault Scenic broke down on me a few weeks back (either clutch or gearbox), finally got around today to get some quotes for repairing it, just a clutch replacement is nearly £500! :o !  >:( !  :'( and a recon gearbox over a grand !?*!@. Looks like the Bulldog is gonna take the strain of the regular car for a bit longer  :'(

If anyone knows how to do a clutch on a Scenic give me a shout.

???

Thats bad luck mate, any way you can buy a used gearbox and clutfch off the shelf from a breakers? Shouldent be that much different to swapping a kit car gearbox.. or is it?

How much can you pick up a used scenic for? Worth a look maybe and sell yours for parts.

Well, finally got the Renault back on the road today. After 2 months  ???  Most of that time it was sat on the side of the road going no where. I finally got the car up to Kingswood Motors for them to do the work.

Turns out, one of the planet gears had come a stray for the dif and nackered the gearbox up, so I did need a recon box after all  :'( I wouldn't trust one from a breakers if they are a weakness.

So with that and a new clutch fitted while it was all apart, came to a fraction over £1k.  ???

Now it's back on the road I can spend a little time sorting the Bulldog out, poor thing has clock up nearly 2000 miles in the last couple of months and needs a little TLC now.
