BPMC Karting Endurance Challenge.
Date: Thursday 18th November 2010
Time: 7.00p.m. start - 10.30p.m. finish
Format: 25 mins Qualifying + Endurance Race over 2 ½ hours
Teams: 5 drivers per team – 16 Teams in total
Cost: £175 per team = £35 per driver (£36.39 if you use PayPal)
Place: Amended address as the The Raceway, Avonmouth, has ceased trading. The event will now be held at M4 Karting, Hangar 88, A Site Hullavington, Wiltshire, SN14 6BT. Full details of the track and directions can be found on their website www.m4karting.com (http://www.m4karting.com)
Following on from last years event in which we made up 2 teams of 5 - we have been invited by Ken at the BPMC to participate again. Those who took part, including myself and Speedy had a great time so it would be great if we can raise a team or two for this years event too.
The event will raise around £1200 which will be donated to the chosen charity of BPMC – The Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

For those that havent experienced an endurance karting event, it goes like this..
This is your chance to be at the sharp end of your own Grand Prix Team, 25 minutes of qualifying will determine the grid for the start of the race with the best lap time taking pole position. The drivers briefing on the night will give the usual rules and regulations which will be supplemented by those below: -
1. Each driver must drive a minimum of 2 stints within the 2.5 hours of racing.
2. The Raceway timing system will be the official clock.
3. Most driving penalties will be a 30 second stop/go penalty.
4. T-Bone another driver - 1 min stop/go penalty.
5. Missing a driver change completely – DISQUALIFICATION
Payment of £35 per driver will be payable in advance. Great value for money for such an adrenaline packed evening.

As we only need one more for 2 teams I can put you down for a third team but if you can confirm before someone else puts their name down to complete the first 2 teams you can have that spot.
Will only be dropping by to watch for a while this year, just to much going on at home this time. ::)

The problem for me is that it's quite a way to go and come back again in an evening. I'd like to make at least one meet this year though. I'll give it some thought!

At the moment my Pakistan trip has been cancelled (shame :D ), so looks like I will be available after all Phil. So if you're really desperate then I can make up the missing bod?
Missus wants to know if anyone will be going to watch (i.e. spouses etc.)?

Nice one JB. My missus will be there but racing too. Not sure about others, perhaps they will respond to this post.

IMPORTANT NEWS..
The Raceway in Avonmouth has ceased trading. It is currently up for sale but there is no guarantee that this will go through by the time of our event on the 18th November.
In order to ensure that the event that you have all been looking forward to will definitely go ahead, it has been decided to move the event to Hullavington (Only half hour from Avonmouth, M4 East) The details are below. Times and date remain the same, although we will have to work around a 20 min event already booked at the venue. A good opportunity to stop and chat maybe.
The event will be held at M4 Karting, Hangar 88, A Site Hullavington, Wiltshire, SN14 6BT. Date: Thursday 18th November 2010. Time: 7.00p.m. start - 10.30p.m. Finish
Full details of the track and directions can be found on their website www.m4karting.com (http://www.m4karting.com)
Obviously this cant be helped and luckily no money has changed hands. Everyone will recieve an email notifying the change of venue.
See you there.
Unless I'm wrong, the venue is not actually at the location that comes up when you search fro the postcode. I'm sure it's after the village itself (coming from the M4) and on the left at a right-hander with the hangars visible on the left.
Just in case anyone ends up driving round all night :)
If you look on gogle maps or google earth, it shows M4 Karting and Mini Moto on the satellite view.
BTW, billy bonus for me, I only live around 10 miles away :D

Quite right mate - details on email just sent to everyone. :)
Lol... even bigger Billy Bonus for me :p
It's a track layout I know and love
Also, having just read through their website, is the format remaining the same for us as they stipulate 8 teams min for endurance races..?

Hi phil,
Its a shame, but I'm fine with the change of plans.
See you there!
Yeah- thats fine-just found it on the map.
Hope you all have a great time tomorrow.
I was going to come out and watch but unfortunately we will be attending a funeral in Kent. ( Got another next week as well. )
Please post some pics.
Casino
wrap up warm if you going to night as i know it can get cold in there.
See you all there as long as i dont get train problems.
Yzfmini
Thanks for the heads up - i don't normally wear a jumper but i might have to dig one out.
thanks for a great night, Im bloody sore today though... had to shoot off before the end, did the Whacky Racers come in 11th in the end????
Does anyone have details of the photographer there last night??
Cheers
A very sore Kelvin
Haha yeah I had a few aches and pains this morning too.
Good to see you all there and I think it would be fair to say we had a good time. Thanks Ken for setting up the event.
The photographer can be found on www.ffvp.net (http://www.ffvp.net) .He said pics will become live soon and you will have to email him with your choice.
Roll on the next one :)
Yep, great night! No aches or pains this morning at all. Maybe I wasn't trying hard enough? Although not sure i could have gone any faster than a 32.0? How they were doing 30.9 is beyond me? Thanks to Ken for organising and to my awesome team! Great driving everyone. Best moment of the night was Phil for putting that bloke into the barriers after he tried to take Phil out. Absolute class! Oh, and Dave H for his black flags 'moments'. Very funny!
Whacky Racers did indeed finish 11th :) Good stuff.
I'm with you on that Pete, managed a 32.007 or something like that which was beaten by Kelvin 31.975
We were up against real pros clearly!
Question is who is up for the 24hr? ;)
Some fantastic moments albeit a sore back and right knee :S
Final order at the finish was
BMC Panic
BMC Chaos
BMC Manic
NFG
Ben Collins Tribute Band
BMC Disorder
BMC Havoc
Piston Broke
A Bunch of Stigs
The Quickshifters
Whacky Racers
The Flying Squad
Spencers Speeders
Pegasus Thunderbolts
Team GTM
Marios Karts
You can also contact the photographer on 07850 192304 or email bryn.mullins@hotmail.com website as Phil stated is www.ffvp.net (http://www.ffvp.net)
Spot on evening - thanks to Ken and Phil.
My favourite moments: 1. Roger realising it was Rob P who took him out after nipping down the inside into a corner and 2. our continual fastest lap swaps.
I want go last next time so I get the advantage of a lighter fuel load.
Talking of lighter loads, Roger's pre event dump clearly made the difference - a 1.31.78
Adrian
Rog's time was clearly down to aerodynamics. .. :P
Fantastic evening indeed. Really enjoyed the team I was in, I thought we did very well especially as our car spent quite a bit of time in the sin bin. Naughty car!
Lots of entertaining moments including Phil completely trashing the car that tried to knock him off. He went flying. Comedy. That is what its about..... er I mean.. er, ... your a bad man Phil.
And theres me saying I thought the driving was aggresive at times in the questionnaire :-[
I was provoked though >:(
Pics are up..

So......
1 reference to lighter fuel loads
1 reference to warmer track/tyres
1 reference to aero....
Keep up boys
:D

Not forgetting this one too... "Roger's pre event dump clearly made the difference" :)) :))
Bit disapointed with the pics if I were to be honest.
Top night! Well done to all the organisers. Really well run I thought if a little late starting off.
Not sure that we needed all the 'race suit boys' though, they got in the way of us 'real' racers :D :D Oh, and Dave, thanks for holding them up, worked a treat ;)
Definitely be going to that venue again in the future :)
John
anytime.
;D ;D
Thanks to the organizers
Had a brilliant time, so much fun, and great company, def want to do it again soon if possible, just loved that top corner and finally managed to keep my boot to the floor the last 5 laps - all the way round
Must think about a diet now ;)
Would have posted earlier but PC crashed. That was the first time that I have driven a go cart,I found the cornering hard to master, but got the hang of it, very late in the evening.I enjoyed myself very much, but took a battering, probably my fault due to my inexperience in driving these. My lower back is still in bits, did I ache the next day! I would have to think hard to enter a race like that again.
My PC also crashed. but I did not want to put my first time experance at karting on here untill after your event, just incase it put anyone off. If anyone wondered why I backed out. I went karting the week before (son in laws birthday) There were only 3 to a team, and it seemed as though no sooner did you finish your stint and got out of the kart, you were getting back in again. I think I was trying to hard right from the start, by the time I was on my last stint on track every part of me was in pain. Ive been a old man for a long time but thanks to that bit of karting its the first time I felt like one. So I was really glad to hear that some of you had a few pains( LOL) the only good thing that came out of it. Ill know not to do it again.
Tony
