Complete Kit Car are running their CKC / Omex track days at Llandow again in 2011 on 14th May and 10th September. This is the best value track day in the UK, last year the prices were £95 car & driver incl. lunch, £20 additional drivers incl. lunch and £5 for lunch for passengers, spectators etc. I have spoken with Ian at CKC this morning and he hopes to hold the prices at this level and will confirm as soon as he can.
The question is whether you want to do the track day on Sat 14th May or Sat 10th September or both? There will be a Discount (last year £20) to CKC Subscribers and to the BKCC if we can get 5 cars or more. At the September day last year we had 11 so an excellent turn out.
Although the first track day is still 4 & 1/2 months away, these things need to be planned well in advance so please could you respond with your preference.
I'm keen to do this for that sort of price and both dates would be ok (although May is closer and I get impatient)!
I'd probably do both :) Great days out.
CKC normally do 2 dates, are these the ones thay are planning Ken?
Both for me sounds good (foreign trips dependent)
The dates are
Sat 14th May
Sat 10 Sept
At this stage please indicate which date your prefer or both if you intend to go to both so that I can relay the numbers to Ian Stent @ CKC Mag as an indication of BKCC representation.
Date in May for me please.
Hope I dont regret brining the Dax. Good job my car is fibreglass, I hear Armco is magnetic.
M
I subscribe to CKC mag so should get a discount!! Happy days.
I'm potentially up for both dates?
dead interested in both dates,
anyone have any info on these discounts as I have seen nothing in writing as yet anywhere
Pete.
If you subscribe to CKC you get a membership card and some info in the joining pack about various discounts, this includes trackdays.
Also on the CKC web site.
Mark
The situation with the discounts is that CKC Subscribers will get the track day at the discounted rate as will BKCC members providing that we can get at least 5 BKCC cars along which judging by the response so far will be no problem for both dates.
Also as the track day calenders are published by the national track day providers I will be putting together a list of track days for BKCC members. Where possible this will either include a discounted rate or a bonus such as free instruction on the day. This will all become part of your membership deal for £10 p.a.
Further details will be announced in due course and a full list of all Track Days, discounts and special deals for BKCC members will be put on the Forum during Feb so that those paying their £10 and joining the BKCC will enjoy those benefits. An example is this arrangement with CKC that even non CKC Mag subscribers can benefit from £20 off per track day. So for your £10 BKCC membership if you do both track days you will save £40 straight away. More of this will follow in due course so keep watching the Forum.

I reckon I will do the 14th May date.....never done a track day before so be gentle with me!!
My son wants to come if possible......he wants to know if its possible to use his 3.0 litre Beamer which is 300 odd bhp or must it be kit cars?

I'm sure you will both be absolutly fine. The opening sessions are divided into groups from novice to advanced. I was a little nervous about my first one but it turned out to be a great day leaving me wondering what I was worried about.
Tony, I expect Ken will be able to answer your question.
Tony
I will enquire about the beemer, I know that in September there were a few road cars to make up the numbers, at £75 incl. lunch they need a full house to break even. Keep an eye on the forum and will post the answer as soon as I know.
Thanks for your responses, time for a list.

I am unlikely to make the May date due to sponsor duties, I will almost certainly be at Japfest in the paddock with lots of scantilly clad young ladies - I'm gonna hate it!
Either is fine for me too Ken.
Really enjoyed last year.
Put me down for both dates please KK.
Updated list below, any more? At this stage we are indicating numbers for CKC so that they are aware of how many spaces we are likely to take and that as a club we have sufficient numbers to qualify for the discount.

Thank you for all your responsesd to this post. From your input I have relayed this to the organisers as to how many spaces we are likely to require at each event. I will put a new post up nearer the time to notify you when you need to start booking.
During Feb I will be working on a BKCC Track Day Calender which will be posted before your membership is due on 1st March. This will hopefully have enough variety so that at all levels there is something for everyone.
Went to both last year and had a great time with nice people so please include me for both Tony.

Hello,
I am interested in both dats possibly, if you can pencil me in if that is OK?

Consider it done Rich, they are really good events :)

Just to clarify the latest situation with the CKC/Omex track days. Ian Stent of CKC Mag is very grateful for our support but understandably has to make the event available to all kit car clubs and CKC magazine subscribers. As a club we will be limited to 15 places at each event initially with the possibility of a few more places if they need to make up the numbers near to the closing date.
As soon as I get the nod from Ian that you need to start booking I will put up a new post to inform everyone, then it will be a case of first come first served with the 15 places we have been allocated. My advice is after many years of organising such events is to book by credit card as soon as it becomes available as those who leave it to the last minute are always disappointed.
i would be up for both dates plus extra driver never done a track day before is this track ok for newbies & how do we sign up

This is a great one for newbies. At the beginning of the day everyone is split into groups from novice to advanced following a good briefing.
I would recommend it.
Will put your name down for both 8 extra driver. More details to follow nearer time.

Hi Phil
I hope to attend both dates, and have recently emailed Ian asking to be booked on the May one. I am not sure that he is taking bookings yet.
These are great days and well worth the money.
I hope to camp on the Friday night before the first event at the camp site nest to the circuit. It saves an early start and makes a weekend of it.
Cheers
Mattsmev
Put me down for the 14th + 1 driver please. ;D

Sounds a good idea to me, never been there before, so i'll contact you nearer the time to get details of camp site if that's ok? ;D
I have emailed Ian Stent at CKC asking him to let me know when we need to start paying for our 15 allocatted spaces. As soon as I have the date I will post up and let you know but after tomorrow I will be out of the country for 10 days so please bear with me.
GOOD NEWS!!
CKC are now taking bookings for the May event. To book please contact Ian Stent at CKC mag quoting BKCC so that he can allocate one of our 15 places - tel. 01823 335443 or email ian@performancepublishing.co.uk Please remember to post on here when you have booked so that we can keep track of numbers.
EDIT. Sorry to add to your post Ken, but if you email Ian at CKC, add your mobile number and if like last year, he will call you for card number for payment.

Mark, last time Ian contacted us by phone for a card number.
Guys,
Due to an unforeseen work commitment I am unable to make the May date, if you can remove me from the list for May hopefully this will give one of those on the reserve list an opportiunity.
I am still up for the September date and will definately be camping over because of how far it is away from me.

Booked my place for May
I spoke with Ian Stent of CKC today regarding the BKCC limit of 15. If any BKCC members are also subscribers to CKC magazine please do not book with reference to BKCC but as a CKC Mag Subscriber. The 15 places are limited to BKCC members who are non subscribers to CKC Magazine so if you have a CKC Mag subscription you will not count towards the 15 limit which means that we can have more club members there on the day.
As I am a CKC subscriber I entered and paid today so my entry has no impact in the 15 BKCC members who already have their name down. Having said that, in my opinion CKC Mag is by far the best of the 3 kit car mags so if you want to keep up to date with the kit car industry then CKC is the mag to go with.
Hi Folks,
Change of plans mean I'm now free on May 14th and would really like to attend this trackday. I know there are 15 names down already so please add me to the reserve list.
cheers
Rob
Rob
In view of my post above I know that Dave Bence is also a CKC subscriber so feel free to book with Ian Stent at CKC as BKCC and I will ask Dave to book as a CKC subscriber.
I'll be up for the May date. Possibly the september date, but I'll have to check the cash flow closer to the time.

Hi Phil
I have booked (and Paid) with CKC today as a subscriber. So I guess I can come off the BKCC list. I hope that has not caused any confusion. I still plan to camp over on the Friday night (weather permitting) as that works best for my schedule. Any one else fancy it?
Cheers

I'm going to hold off a couple of weeks until I make some decent headway with my wiring loom. I've got power to the illuminated dash sorted but struggling with lights and ignition. Once there is some light at the end of the tunnel and I've got faith that I'll get it done by May then I'll pay up!

Hi Phil.
I have decided not to go to the May track day. We are looking at a holiday around this time, just coming up to half term.
Plus I am putting the Dax up for sale, so dont want to damage it.
I will let Stent know.

Potentially a daft question but is the trackday exclusively kitcars? I've got a novice mate who wants to take his boxter on a trackday and this'd be ideal for him.

MAY EVENT NOW SOLD OUT.
There will no doubt a couple dropping out so if you are interested in getting on the reserve list, contact Ian Stent at CKC - NOW.
Tel. 01823 335443 or email ian@performancepublishing.co.uk
Theres still the Semptember date to come :)
As Phil states above this event is now sold out, so if you have not yet booked & paid your only hope is the reserve list. At £75 for a full day including lunch it was always going to be popular and sell out.
In addition to the next CKC track day at Llandow in September there is Pembrey on the 16th April - half day for £85 or Keevil on the 11th July - full day for £90. There will be other track days coming up as well so keep checking the forum as new dates get added.
Hi Ken, what time do we need to be there next saturday?
Not to jump into Kens shoes here but I was wondering this too.
So just spoke to Ian Stent who informed me official literature will be coming out early next week.
In the meantime, I spoke to Llandow circuit who said gates will be open at 9.00am (possibly a bit earlier) Drivers briefing at 9.30am with track time starting about 10am.
Are we convoying up?
Thanks Phil, will be travelling up from Somerset and picking my bro up from Gordano 7.30/7.45'ish, so if that fits in with your travel plans let me know :)
I'm interested in a convoy as well so count me in. I don't live far from J18 M4 so can meet anywhere really.
Convoy works for me - Aust services best pick up point for me.
Adrian
This is what has happened in the past and seemed to work well. (short of me taking the M4 by accident last time and missing Aust :-[) The journey is about an hour and 20 mins.
We meet at 7.15am outside Halfords on the Eastgate Retail Park near the M32 and set off at 7.20am. Make our way to Aust services for about 7.40am then on to Llandow for arrival hopefully before 9am. See map...

I think I'm going across to watch for a bit and catch-up with a mate - will try to come and say Hello.
I've lost the paper part of my driving license and the photo bit is up in Glasgow. So, how much of a problem do you think it will be if I turn up with no driving license in hand?
If tried getting hold of Llandow to check but haven't been able to get through yet.
Bugger, fitted me oil cooler and polished the car ready for Saturday too!
Grin
I would recommed getting hold of Richard Wragg at Omex or Ian Stent of CKC Magazine as they are the track day organisers. Their numbers will be on the instructions which have been posted out this week otherwise you can Google and pick up their numbers online.
Hope this helps

All sorted with a wink and a smile!

What do we need to bring? driving licence photo card? Will my MSA Race licence do?
Ade
The paperwork that dropped through my letter box says:
Signed indemnity form - the OMEX one in the posted pack but I think there is a Llandow one to sign on the day as well
Full driving license - I think photo bit might be enough but there are people more experienced than me that might know
Be physically fit - ooh er...
Be a competent driver - ooh er...
Wear an approved helmet. Arms and legs must be covered at all times
Attend the circuit briefing.
Cheers guys.

I am just taking photo card.
Here's to the weather being good guys, we have a BKCC weather angel and she will be working her magic for us tomorrow :)
How's it go?
Cracking day at Llandow today. Phils weather God did the business and it stayed dry all day. MattsMev was the only casualty as far is I know with what turned out to be a broken engine mount, he was last seen on the A48 trying to thumb a lift from a friendly revovery truck.
I had a friend there who was taking photos from various points on the circuit, and he believes he has pics of just about everybody. His website is at http://www.sbkmotorsport.com/ (http://www.sbkmotorsport.com/) pics will be posted there in the next few days. Anybody wanting prints can order direct from the website.
Richard
Excellent trackday. Official news ...
Hairy Santa's Dax Busa Turbo outdrags the Spire on the straight (at 80% throttle!!!!)
Note to self - need a bigger Supercharger
Adrian
Where to start, what a day, all the hard work that Collin and I have put into the car has paid off
all I have to do now is learn how to drive
thanks to all for a brill time and good company to top it off
Well, what a great day, the convoy went exactly to plan, the weather was fantastic, the company was great and I'm gradually becoming more confident in my car on the track and was very pleased how the car performed.
Nice to see Pete finally behind the wheel of his Dax on track too :)
Also a really good club turnout - nice to see you all.
Our banner was up

As mentioned above, Mattsmev had a few problems but a couple of members from the Mev owners club came to the rescue, albeit short lived as drive shaft problems were actually caused by a busted engine mount.. Thats what clubs are all about though isnt it :)

Finally a big thanks to CKC and OMEX for putting on such a great day.
Bookings are already being taken for the next one in Sep, so if you fancy a go get your name down quick here http://bristolkitcarclub.co.uk/smf2/index.php?topic=1550.0 (http://bristolkitcarclub.co.uk/smf2/index.php?topic=1550.0)
Home safe and sound, Dragon Rescue picked me up on the Super Flat Loader and took me to my door. My wife had towed me to the A48 because I thought getting my road side recovery people out for a track incident might be difficult. I thought I was so cunning, but when the chap turned up with the lorry his first words were 'have you been racing at Llandow then', so much for my clever scheme. He said they would have happily picked me up from the circuit as long as the car is road registered, so next time I wont bother towing away from the circuit.
I was really pleased with the running I did get, the set up work by track developments made a difference, especially at the bottom end of the circuit,
I received so much help from others to fix my drive shaft, I felt really upset when the repaired item broke as well, All because the engine mount had broken and thats what caused the problem. I guess my highlights of the day were the offer of a spare drive shaft from a fellow MEV owner and the friendly stop from 4 BKCC members on the way home to make sure all was well.
So despite the day not being a success from a track driving point of view, it was still a good day. Thanks to every one who has been part of it.

Hi,
I live near Llandow and came over to spectate in the afternoon. I took quite a few photos and have uploaded some to photobucket. I notoiced the Bristol kit car club banners, and spoke to a couple of people from the club, so thought I'd link them to this forum.

Hmmmmmm, I think I my have had my tyre set a little too soft. :o
It was a really good day and was nice to see everyone having a great time.
Adrian: Cheers for the cable ties. They worked a treat!
Well guys and girls, hope you all had a good day. We enjoyed seeing many of the regulars again and also many new faces, many of whom hadn't been on track before.
The September event is starting to get booked up so have alook at your diaries and see if you can make it.
If anyone has any photos of the blue Morgan Plus 4 Supersport I had there I would love to see them as it was the first public outing on track of the 60 off special edition car which we developed the engine and induction system for. That was car 0, the production prototype.
:)
Richard Wragg, Omex Technology.
A great day for all that were there and thank you to Richard at Omex and Ian at CKC for once again organising a great event. I say all but 2 guys in the first session of the day had a coming together due to an accidental spin which damaged both their cars and ended the day prematurely for both of them.
Had a very enjoyable session in the afternoon with Dave Bence and The Gaffer where we were nose to tail for lap after lap. Both DB & I were very impressed with the stability and handling of Phils RIOT as we followed it round, Jeremy Phillips of Sylva sure knows how to design a good handling car.
Shame about Matt, I have also broken engine mounts on track (4 times), they just need toughening up, refitting and away you go again until you find the next weakest point.
For those not at Donington on the 23rd May the next BPMC Track day is Keevil through MSE on 11th July. Please see the thread on this for details of how to book and claim the BKCC discount.
Hi Kirk
Many thanks for posting up the pics, do you have any more?
Your link just takes me to 4 thumbnails per page out of hundreds. How do we see larger images?

Thanks, saw the link straight afterwards

Good day had here too, only got towed off once courtesy of a blown fuel pump fuse but thanks to Dave and Ken for rescuing me with a replacement fuse!
Really enjoyable track and well controlled making it novice friendly I thought!
Great day.
Maybe a bit more air pressure need Alastair.
Glad the dax went well all day.
Only problem was a quick fix, when the clutch peddle got stuck and did not come back down.
It was worth all the hard work to get it running.
And it definatley goes well in a straight line and holds well in the corners..

Alastair features at some of the photos in this link, a particularly impressive 3 wheel one; its a photography forum that I sometimes visit.

Fantastic day! Great to see so many BKCC members there. lots of lovely cars and impressive driving, I'm just happy the MAC1 ran faultlessly all day and was vaguely on the pace. On the hunt for some slicks now ;D Pete/Colin - That Dax is seriously quick! Bruv, Marlboro car is very fast round the track and you make it look easy. Hope you get your engine mountings sorted soon Matt. Nice to meet a few new faces, Grin-a-lot and Dikkie (although your navigation leaves a bit to be desired?!) And Rob P? That's a fast car you have although I blame you for getting us black flagged at the start of the afternoon session! Roll on September for Llandow revisited!
Excellent day!! My first track day experience, the Busa did an outstsanding job, i learnt a lot about driving it quickly, only one real problem with an engine mount bolt parting company but a new bolt and away again. The new propshaft worked a dream, the only thing i seem to have is a slight resinating through the drive train under hard exceloration especially on fast right handers, its not bad as my bro who was driving aswell didn't notice it, but he was not driving quite as aggressively as me as it was his first track day and my car :)
Thanks to all for organising the day :)
Ps. my bro remarked on how freindly and sociable everyone was!! Great day lads:)

Ade - that's a quick car, you definitely won the 'fastest car onto the trailer' award!

Start of open pit lane session after lunch. I thought I'd done well to get 2nd in the queue behind Adrian. As soon as the green light came on off Adrian went. I followed. Coming around at the end of my first lap, black flag hanging out the control tower with marshall pointing at me. Back in the pits for a telling off. Apparently, traffic light went RED as soon as Spire had left. Jumped back in the car and, pants, I had to joint the end of a massive queue to get on track! Peetee had followed me through the lights too!

Tut tut tut... It was hard to see the lights in the sunshine though ;) Nomination seconded.
Nominations for both Peetee and Rob P accepted and recorded. I especially like the fact that Peetee blames Rob P for doing the same thing himself, must have been the invisible tow rope between the 2 cars :D
Exactly! Haha
The official photographer on the day dropped a card into my car at lunchtime. Nothing on their website yet but keep checking this link for the pics http://www.digitallphotography.co.uk/index.html (http://www.digitallphotography.co.uk/index.html)
A great day out ;D
My thanks also go to CKC, Omex, and Llandow Circuit for organising such an enjoyable event.
The Onyx ran well and didn't miss a beat all day, but the driver was a bit rusty - it took me a while before it all started to flow again.
With all these Black Award nominations being suggested, I think it's only fair to mention KrazyKen. On two occasions, he pulled over to the left and waved me by on the right - exactly the opposite of what we told in the briefing :o
At Donington, I'll write a big L and R on the back of his gloves, so he can tell the difference ;D

I'm not sure why you can't view the photos on photobucket properly, have you click on the thumnail, I think that should bring up the larger photo? If anyone wants photos if you contact me via pm and I'll send the larger resolution version. I'll post a few more below:

Great set of pic's Kirk. Looks like you all had a great day again.

I had a great day at Llandow (black flag aside ::)) Westy didn't miss a beat. Thanks Colin for a passenger ride in Pete's Starship Enterprise; amazing! :o
Thanks everyone who rushed to help when my car fell off the trailer (one of the ramps dropped and car ended up sitting on it's floor). No damage done thankfully.
All to do again this time next week at Donnington!
Lots of photos from Saturday now on Steves website http://www.sbkmotorsport.com/ (http://www.sbkmotorsport.com/)
Richard
I just sent this to Stentie at CKC, to say thank you and 'big up' the clubs
Dear Ian
Thank you to you and Omex for arranging the latest excellent Llandow track day. As one of the few victims of mechanical dramas, I still had a great time. I broke an engine mount & dropped a drive shaft just before lunch but despite this set back I experienced the camaraderie of kit car driving and owners clubs. It seems as soon as I broke my car that 2 local members of the MEV owners group appeared providing spare parts, important tools and technical support whilst you provided lunch. My local club, the Bristol Kit Car Club provided moral support and ensured I got home safe and sound.
Even without a car, I wasn't short of passenger laps, including in a brand new 200 bhp, Omex powered MEV Rocket.
The moral of the story is that kit car ownership isn't just about the car. The support, encouragement and friendship of local 'all make' car clubs and national 'brand specific' clubs ensure every event is more enjoyable. The humble price of the clubs is often off-set by the savings on insurance and accessories and even the subscription fee to this fine magazine is covered by the reduced price of the track day.
Richard of Omex replied reminding us all that if you are not sure about attending the event itself you can always turn up as passengers/spectators
Cheers
Mattsmev
Thanks again - put my name down for the September event as my engine mount & drive shaft are already repaired.
Matt Wingave
Very good letter Matt and I'm pleased your back on the road again :)
If anyone is interested, Steve at SBK will do a CD of all high res images of your car on the day for £20.
