Ok, I've been out with an old friend who I haven't seen for over 8 years plus and had a great night out catching up over a couple of wines. Got back home and thought maybe a brighter theme to our website might be good so I had a play around. A few units of alcohol have passed my lips this evening and far from being s***faced I actually quite like the the new theme.
What do you think? Dark or light?

I prefer light personally. The only thing I've spotted is that the user names in grey and yellow can be a bit hard to read.
I agree, the lighter one seems a lot clearer and is easier to read

Hey Grin-a-lot. You just pale into insignificance. You'd be more prominent if you changed your user name to HIDDEN and just think of all the postings points you'll get ! lol
Thanks Gaffer. Much better background but , as Grin-a-lot mentions, the light coloured user names are bearly readable.

Much..much better...in fact I was talking to Peter..casino about this at the Morgan factory.
For us old pedal pushers it was a strain on the eyes and some of it was difficult to focus on.... :'(
Peter did say, give it time and the Gaffer will change it.... :o

Quite like it but its not so unique. Many more forums are light. The dark one is very cool but I fear this is more practical. A difficult dilemma for a kit car enthusiast where practicality is put last.

Nail on the head mate, but this is growing on me now.
I quite liked the darker look at it looked better finshed in my opinion, however if some find it harder to read then lighter is certainly a more practical option
Logged in & thought there was something wrong with my computer until i found this post!! ;D Must admit i do prefer the previous style, some what cooler & not the run of the mill as other sites :-X
Sadly I prefered the dark verson too... somehow found it easier to navigate... ???

will start looking on here now for the same amount of time I used to with the old one, almost gave up when it was dark
you would never of quessed the Gaffer was drunk when he altered it ;)
I also prefer this lighter version. but agree that the darker one was different to all the other forums around.

Hummmm. As much as this colour scheme is bright it also is like a lot of other forums I seen! ::) Where as the darker version to me looked sleeker and more stylish.... ;)

Its no good being sleek and stylish if we strain our eyes looking at some parts, which many of us have done and said. Get to our age, it becomes a problem... :'(
Maybe thats why other forums have this brighter style.... ;)
By the way did you get the mirrors off the Gaffer....Were they OK for you.... emailed you but no reply...;D
This light one is much easier to read for me......especially as i'm a night bird like you and am often looking at it at 1.30 a.m.!! ;) ;)

I know the white and green squares represent being on/offline but a few others have other colours eg Chanz has 1 yellow square and Evolotion has 4....

But Brian wanted to know what the yellow squares mean Phil.... ? Chanz has one yellow and Evolution has four.

Ok, these squares are post count displays, the more squares the more posts they've made. They will only show under members who are not part of any other membergroups within the club.
Ok, as you can see I've gone dark again.. Maybe because I feel a bit dark lately ;) - but this time I've paid attention to the text readabililty.
This is what boredom and a bad back does for you. As mentioned in another post, I do have a comfy office chair, so thats where I've been sat today playing around with our website.
Ive tried it on iPhone and Android phone, and text looks ok to me. You can also change the theme colours by clicking the buttons on the top right 8)
I was pretty bored with the light theme and agreed that it looked too much like other forums so hopfully you will like this one.
A few things to do but its out for scrutiny. Let me know what you think.
My first thought was "Aaargghhh!! It's changed again!" But after a few minutes it certainly isn't as bad as the first 'dark' version, and as you can change the colour preference too I think I like it :)

Anyhow, The site looks good phil, 8) but the one thing I dont like, is having to keep moving the side swipe to read and write. Cant this just be set central with no bar at the bottom...Its as if the text doesnt fit the screen. ;)

I am working on the page stretching problem along with a theme choice button so members can have a choice of the previous light theme or the current dark one.
I have a big monitor so couldn't see the problem, but on a resolution simulator I can see it.

I have a 24" monitor, which I think is the largest you can get. Mainly, because I have television as well, so that cant be the problem.....But then Im no master like you are. .. I dare say you will sort it....::) I have just measured this that I have written and it slides to the left of my monitor 5" then I can read it all.... :)
Mine is 22" corner to corner. What resolution do you have it set on?
Has to be a resolution setting, works for me on many devices but they have high resolutions, it isn't the inches that matter on this topic.

The very original theme had to go, I liked it and many people commented on how good it was too but the software platform no longer supported it. Having said that, watch this space, I may do some work to upgrade the old forum ;)
I the meantime, the light forum is going back up.

Ok, after listening to comments and reading lots of past PM's I have decided to try and bring back the very first web theme that a lot of you saw when you first joined the club almost 2 years ago. The theme lasted about a year and a half until the software platform it was running on was updated and the theme would not work on it any more so it had to go :(
Yes it was a dark theme, but I made many code changes to text, background colours and features to make it more readable and to navigate better. The site got many compliments, even from other clubs asking if I could make one for them :P ..No was the answer.

So, as I've got a bit of time on my hands, the resurrection will begin. There maybe a little disruption to the site for a day or two so forgive me for that.
I don't want keep playing around making changes to the site as I realise people will get cheesed off, so the target is to have the site back as it was in the very beginning with the option of using the current brighter site if you wish, in other words, you will have the choice as to what theme you use.
