Guys,
The list of cars on this is looking pretty good.
Do those who are going have a plan, I am not sure if it is best to travel down the friday night and camp somewhere then drive back on the Saturday?
Alternatively I could travel down in the morning and maybe camp over on the Saturday - it all depends if you guys are meeting up anywhere more local to Bristol and we can make it a bit of a gathering - particularly for the likes of me who are a little further away....
Let me know your thoughts, even if camping is not the best option maybe I can book a travel lodge or similar, it would be good to catch up with you all again.
Rich
Sounds a good idea, we could meet up on the outskirts of Bristol and convoy in together.....then i won't get lost...lol ;D
Tony
My name is down. But un-sure how I will cope seeing ill kids. Got a lump in my throat thinking about it.

I live in Frome Pete which is about 28 miles from Central Bristol and I haven't got sat nav in the Hood. :D :D
Tony,
28 miles, that is nearly central Bristol, We will be coming down from the "outskirts", we are only around 70 miles away! The plan at the moment is to travel down on the saturday morning, so when it gets a bit closer to the date we can maybe arrange to meet somewhere in Bristol, although we are probably coming from a different direction to you.

Are any of you guys meeting up on the Saturday evening after the Caring with Cars day?
I should be coming along with "Tipton Pete" and his son in the "support vehicle", with me and Emily in the toy, if anyone is meeting up then let me know and we will see if we can arrange a camp site somewhere near the pub etc.
If no one is meeting up then no problem, we will camp on the Saturday night and travel back up on the Sunday.
Let me know your thoughts,
Rich
I have registered as well hopefully be back from america by then I'd better get polishing the cobra
Stu
Thats me booked as well.......Denzle... 8)
Now that a lot of us are signed up to attend this event, how about we arrange a meeting place in town, Say Aston Gate, superstores car park, (Oppsite the Ford garage) Meet up latest 9:30am

Meeting sounds good to me; don't really mind where though...
Sounds good to me Bri :)

Childrens Hospice
South west. Charlton farm
Charlton Drive,
Wraxall,
Bristol. BS48 1PE
Off the M5 Junction 19 to Portbury. Down Portbury Lane to Clevedon Road.
Turn right onto Clevedon Road, Then first right onto Charlton Drive.
Look it up on Google map. But it only shows a line for Charlton Drive.
It will be signposted with the pistonheads logo. Two crossed con rods with pistons, and a smiley face above.
Denzle..... ;)
Cheers Denzle. ;)

If you come through Keynsham towards Bristol you will meet up with the large roundabout that starts the Ringroad, go left towards Bristol and at the next crossroads (800 yds) look right, you will see the Mcdonalds, we meet just down the road from there in the car park - hope this helps
Cheers Pete that seems best option i think.......expect i'll bring Stupott and Dixie with me. ;)
Tony
Good idea, Pete can buy me a double sausage nd egg McMuffin.

love it, and I thought I was food orientated :o
of coarse depending on timing we could always meet at the Bristol Trade Centre and have a proper breakfast to set us up for the day, not much further on
That sounds a great idea..... ;)
Yea I am up for that. Good idea.
Perhaps we should do our own event; Caring With Breakfast?

Well Santa certainly cares about breakfast......he usually has two!! lol ;D ;D
Hi chaps,
I'm V8S on Pistonheads. I've met a few of you already at other events. :D
Something that was said on Page 1 of this thread needs a bit of clarification.
The event is mostly in the grounds of the private school a field away from the hospice, not actually at the hospice itself. We don't know if any children that may be staying at the hospice will be well enough to see the cars, so I have purposely not made that connection to the event. We would love for some children to enjoy the day but it will be a decision for the families and nurses on the day itself.
We've now reached 400 cars and a great bit of news is that the Red Arrows will be doing a flypast.
Hi TVRV8S and thanks for the clarification.
Gaffer.
I cannot make this now. Someone has given me a 3 day ticket to the Bristish Grand Prix in Silverstone :D
Hospitality, booze, women, oh yea and cars.
Couldn't really give that up could I?
Have fun.
Mark
Can I add my name to the list please... :D
Guys,
For anyone who lives up to the North of Bristol, there is a little convoy starting at the NEC, then Strensham services on the M5, then via A roads to the "Air Ballon Car Park" (I am sure that this may mean something to those more local...) then arriving at Caring with Cars possibly around 10.30 - if anyone is interested in joining let me know or add in the the link below...

Are you on the Piston Heads 400 list......if not you won't be able to go, but you could always email them to get on there maybe. ::)
Tony, you are correct. If name isn't on the list, you won't gt in.
Good news though, the numbers have been increased to 450.
I have removed my name, so thats another place available.
Weather looks bad though :(

That will be a shame :(
Not going by the BBC Weather today says its gonna be a bright day. ???
8)
BBC have changed their minds again, >:( back to showers :'(
8)
I shall go as long as it's not pi**ing down from the start.....it gives "cloudy" on the 10 day weather forecast i use......the BBC forecast is always wrong i find!!
Tony
Correction.....I can't go now! >:(
Coming back from Dixie's thursday night developed a noise from the offside rear of the Hood and on investigation found the drive shaft is nackered......can't get spares so will have to get a complete drive shaft assembly.
Think the needle bearings are breaking up as the car took a couple of violent twitches at the rear ..... not funny as i was not hanging about at the time! ???
Hope to get it done in the week if i can get the parts.
Tony
On my PC it gives am showers....for Bristol.... Denzle... ;)
I'm a bit nervous about the weather so may well stall and see how it works out. I'm a fair weather cyclist/runner/driver anyway...
The weather now looks okay tomorrow.
Cloud in the morning with sun later, no rain (BBC weather which is usually fairly accurate).
It says the event is from 10.00am to 4.00pm, so no rush to get there.
I'm going.
I might opt for a later start in that case.
Copied direct from BBC Weather at 23:30. It will be a mostly dry and fine day with plenty of sunny spells but a few light showers are possible from time to time. Winds will stay light.
We will be at MacDonalds at 09:00 tomorrow morning, to run down and meet up at the Aston car park for 09:30 as suggested earlier in this tread.
See you all there.
Brian & Anna

I might be running a bit late in the morning , but will make a phone call to see if I can make it a bit earlier--

I'm gooing to delay things for an hour too see if things settle, though not sure about the fact that this is in a field, and there's been a lot of rain the last few days, it gonna be muddy thats for sure. >:( :( :'(

I assuming no 9.30 meeting at Aston?
I've been out and about this morning and I'm getting bored of seeing GT40s, Aston Martins and ferarris! There are some gorgeous cars heading over!

Agreed.
Good day had by all once the rain stopped. Enjoyed watching a viper accidently doughnutting in the field :) And nice to catch up with Pete n Rich again. (cheers Rich!)
My drive shaft gave up on the way home. Trying to keep up with the super car convoy on the way down probably didn't help. Now trying to get sorted quick in time for Donington next week. Wish me luck! ???

Dave,
I really hope that you manage to get it sorted, especially as it is your last time out to play before the impending happy event...
Dont forget to keep in touch, even when you have to let the 205 go in the interests of having your first born!
