Title: Track Developments Corner Weight Clinic & Quality BBQ - Sat 18th June
Post by: Krazyken on 06, May, 2011, 09:37:06 PM
It's on again this year so for those of you that missed out last year this is your chance.  If you had your car weighed last year it will be worth going again, be prepared for a shock to see how much it may have changed.

The cost this year is £20 but this includes a Quality BBQ with all produce being sourced directly from a local specialist butcher.  Places are limited to 15 which also includes our friends from Apple Counties Kit Car Club, Ian Stent of CKC Magazine may also be present to use the event for a future article in the magazine.

Please put your name down for this exclusive event where you can learn about the importance of corner weights and find out exactly how much your car weighs.  On top of that I have booked the sunshine and you get excellent comararderie and banter from fellow members free of charge.

Yes please, I paid up but missed last year due to a mechanical break down.

So would like the Dax to be checked out.

Thanks Mark

Grateful if you could add me to the list.

I assume it will be cars being corner weighted not the drivers - although the before and after BBQ comparisons could be interesting :)

Putting some coil overs on the M so would be good to get it corner weighted after. hopefully Dave won't mind putting 1500 kilos on his scales !

was a good laugh last year,  so would love to attend this year

the corner weighing is secondary in my thoughts, as there is food available

What time does this start?  I've been looking forward to this but now double booked with a wedding.  Sadly its my boss's wedding and he definitely notice if i'm not there, he's a very astute kind of bloke.  Unless it starts quite early i'm not going to be able to make it.

Track Developments are based on a Farm Industrial Estate near Grittleton approx 10 mins away from Castle Combe.  Full details will follow if we can get enough numbers to justify the event.

yes he has the Mac1 at the moment, he has taxed it but hasn't driven it on the road as yet, but did take it round Landow last year when the sump went, ( been with him ever since) he also has a couple of rally cars so I dont think it would be a wasted space, would be one or tother, I'm doing this as he doesn't even know how to turn a computer on so has no way of becoming a club member but would like to be involved

Hi Guys

re an earlier post - from memory the pads are rated at 1500lb / 750k each

I had a letter through the post last week with info on the Tour of Britain Historic Car Rally.
The cars are due to pass the farm between 1:30 and 2:30 en route between Badminton and Castle Combe.
More info on www.tourbritannia.com (http://www.tourbritannia.com)

As regards our arrangements, as before we will have each car on our setup patch and measure corner and total weights both with and without driver.
We also note the Camber and Tracking Front and Rear.
Then we send you off to do your own adjustments with help, tools, advice and interferance from fellow visitors.
Later after all the cars are checked we will confirm your adjustments.

We will also have the suspension demonstration models we showed at Stoneleigh for you to try out. We will also be able to answer your suspension and chassis related questions.

We will have a BBQ with top quality meats from Tucks Butchers in Sherston.

Any questions re our event either post them here of  pm me.

As before No school age children as there is my works and Farm machinery to cause injury.
No Dogs as there are horses and farm dogs here.

Dave

Dave's had lots of input on my build - and will know that it's miles off being ready for a set-up.  However, I'd quite like to bring my better half's MX-5 along if possible?

Spoke with Dave at TD today.  He will still lay the event on for 11/12 members including the BBQ and looks forward to seeing you on the day.  I will not be there on Sat so Phil will take charge and sort out your £20 donations and the running order.

Have a great day all.

Agreed, just had a look at the forecast and I'm not looking to get soaked :(.

However, I have spoken to Dave at Track Developments today and he is still running the event but will not be offended if anyone feels they don't want to make the trip due to rain.

On the plus side, Dave has organised a barn for parking should we make the journey, the barn could be a little dusty but is dry and there will still be food available.

Dave has also kindly offered to do small groups of us on following Saturdays by arrangement for those who don't make it this Saturday.

We are still welcome in tin tops but obviously if we eat we will still have to pay for food that is prepared.

So Basically, its your call. Maybe see you there or not, but lets hope the forecast is wrong.

A very enjoyable, interesting and educational day ;D

I had a rather wet journey there, but had my waterproof suit and crash helmet on, which do a great job at keeping the water out.

I got to TD at about 9.00am, to find Stevel already there with his Tiger Cat. Dave had already put him to work brushing out one of the barns for us to park the cars in out of the rain 8)

Soon after, we were joined by peetee, Hairy Santa and WestieBusa and their kits. TimC came along in his partners MX5 and pitlips arrived in the afternoon for a look around the cars. peetee took him out for a ride in his MAC1 and judging by the look on his face when he returned, he rather enjoyed it :D

Here are the early birds in Steve's beautifully swept barn:
(http://s1.postimage.org/15ej3wnd0/combineandkits.jpg) (http://postimage.org/image/15ej3wnd0/)

We all enjoyed the excellent burgers, sausages etc at lunchtime and the ready supply of tea, coffee and snacks were very welcome.

The measurements showed up a few problems - peetee's car had very little castor on one side, Hairy's Dax had far too much castor on both sides, my car had a 2 degree difference in left and right castor, Steve's corner weights were way out, and the MX5 was toeing out at the front instead of in. Some effective adjustments were made there and then, but some of us have a bit more of a challenge.

Couldn't resist a photo of Big Red and Little Red:
(http://s1.postimage.org/15s1bwojo/masseyonyx.jpg) (http://postimage.org/image/15s1bwojo/)

Big thanks to Dave, Ben and Tom (and the cook whose name I forget :-[) for such a great day.

Great day on many levels!  Got there in the dry, met some great people, made some major changes to the corner weights, lovely food, good crack and a very different drive home without bouncing all over the A46.

Looking forward to meeting again.

Cheers fellas!!
