Title: Stoneleigh Kit Car Show 2012 - May 6th & 7th
Post by: 'The Gaffer' on 11, November, 2011, 02:23:06 PM
I have just received paperwork from Grosvenor Shows re The Stoneleigh Kit Car Show 2012. Sunday 6th and Monday 7th May 2012 (May Bank Holiday weekend)

This is 'the' show of all kit car shows and I will book a club stand as usual, we have been allocated our usual stand (54F) See map.

I know its early and things change but do you intend going? With car? Camping? Put your names down please so we can get an idea of numbers.

It should be mentioned that if you decide to come in your kit / sports car, you will not be expected to stay the 2 days on the BKCC stand, just park your car on it for as long as you are around. You are free to come and go when and as you please.

Camping is optional but could be fun, a great chance to get to know each other over a tipple or two.

The most important thing is that we actually do look like a serious club with some cars, and not an empty plot that could have been issued to another club. More info about the show can be found at www.nationalkitcarshow.co.uk (http://www.nationalkitcarshow.co.uk)

1.  The Gaffer, with car, camping weather dependant.
2.  Speedy J, with car, camping weather dependant.

I'll certainly plan to go.  Whether or not the Gemini Racecar will be in a fit state to be trailered up is another matter.

I'm planning on going on Saturday, it will be the first time I've taken my car to a show, so be gentle with me  ;)

I had a good chat with RMW50 last year and next year hope join you all on the BKCC pitch with my newly completed Aries Locoblade.

Cheers,
Iain

Ian,

Good to hear that you will be able to make it this year with your Aries, it will be great to see it! Try and make the two days, last year was a good fun, I took my youngest Daughter and my mate Pete came with his son, the camping was an added bonus with great company with Tony, Pete, Brian and Anna. If you need to drop off essentials like a tent etc anytime before hand just let me know, I am only 20 mins away from Stoneleigh - if that helps with the logistics, or if Tony and Pete are travelling in the big camper then they may be able to help with transporting some gear (Wallnut and Hairy Santa that is).

I will be there for both days, hopefully with Pete, Joel and Emily.

Definitely plan to go, I am putting in holiday now before they send me somewhere nasty again :)

Hope to make both days this year, it saves trying to tear around in one day!
Title: Accommodation
Post by: 'Mendip Wurzel' on 01, February, 2012, 07:23:40 PM
There is cheap onsite accommodation for those who may wish to stay overnight as it can be quite cold this time of the year. It was £30 for a twin room (£15 each), it may cost more now.... Rooms are small but have heating and a basin with shared toilets and showers. There is nicer onsite accommodation but it costs a lot more. There is also camping.

Room that I stayed in a few years ago......

The cheap rooms does seem a good option if your not keen on camping as doing both days might be better than one long day trying to see everything.

Weather shouldnt be a problem, getting through the mot first could be the problem!  8)

Just a quick thought, Who's got the club banner? and are you going? if not I can collect it before hand.

Looks like Walnuts camper van (Aka BKCC Stonleigh HQ) has been sold :(

Anyone with a camper is welcome to bring it along, there is a free pass waiting if anyone would like to oblige. Walnuts van has been a great centre piece for our club site over the years offering shelter, tea and coffee's and secure storage.

OK Pete. When you see a yellow flash shot passed you can take the wide load sign & flash light off then use your other gears.  :P :P :P

If no one has a campervan I know Dave gallop from track developments mensioned to me that he had a double gazebo going begging if we ever needed it for club meets. Don't know if the offer still stands or whether someone can take it up there?
I can ring him tomorrow & see if that is the case. If so I can even pick it up on Friday or saturday but won't be able to take it up there. But I can take it to anyone who would be able too take it & I don't know what size it is folded up either?
Hope this helps?

I wont be coming to the show but would like to ask a favour.

I have an item sold on ebay which the buyer did not realise is collection only. He is going to stoneleigh and we have agreed that i would leave the item at the stand and that he could collect it from the stand.

If there anyone based near horfield  going on either the sat ot sunday that i could give it to before?

If so, could you pm and we can arrange for me to drop it round. It is a westfielf dash trim so is long, but not wide or thick.

Cheers,

Roger

Just thought I'd let you know that my attendance is looking doubtful this year.  Just had an engine rebuild and I've got a misfire problem which we can't trace. I'm hoping the car gets looked at today/tomorrow (Interpro) but not confident all will be well.

Just cancelled the room for Sunday night, but will still prob turn up for the day during Sunday

have we got a bigger parking area this year, because going by the people and cars that are stating there coming we will have no chance on the area we normally get allocated  -

Not everyone is coming in their cars Pete and over 2 days, dont think there will be a problem. Sunday might be a little busier though.

Think we might have to try and camp on the other side of the road from our club site if we getb to many cars turning up. or just put our tents up when people start to leave.

I'm aiming to meet near J18 and because I've got a silly small fuel tank (and an uneconomical carb powered crossflow) I'll need to stop for fuel.  I'll bail out of the convoy just before Stow on the Wold (there's a station on the side of the road we'll be on) and I'll attempt to catch up, if not I'll see you there!

I don't think we have the campervan as stated so it will prob be ok for you to put your tents up on the stand? If not then you will have no worrys after people are leaving on sunday & I dont think many are coming on the Monday. PS you aint got a spare tent for my westy as I don't think it will fit in the room.  :'(

Looking out of the window it was the Sunday that was the driest, fair play to those camping for the weekend
the evening entertainment seemed very good and the atmosphere was as you would expect.

Nice to see some new face's and some very impresive cars in the parking area.

Internet very slow today so adding an image is taking for ever so will try again later.

What a fantastic day Sunday turned out to be, those that dropped out on coming up, even for the one day missed good weather, good chat and a good show as usual, with a good chat aroubnd the fire pit in the evening.

Today (Monday) did turn for the worst and yes it rained. We still enjoyed a lovely breakfast in the Farm Store on site (thanks Pete) and YES! Pete had his usual 2!  ;D

Plenty of space

What a difference a day makes ;D

It was packed outside and indoors on sunny Sunday, I spent a really good day mainly looking around the club displays.

Wet on Monday, only a tiny few cars outside, so I spent most of the time looking at the new cars and trade stands indoors.

I bought quite a bit this year, got some good bargains and thoroughly enjoyed the show.

Certainly glad we chose the Sunday! Good turnout of BKCC cars :) Whose was the Tiger with the paw prints all over the bonnet? It looks like one a guy from Swindon used to have. I got some magazines of him and he was selling it at the time, that was a couple of years ago at least.

Nice show but would have been so much better in the Locost :(

Still, won't be long now I hope :)

Hi Yellabelly
That was my Tiger.  You are right I bought it from Milson in Swindon just over 3 years ago, really nice bloke and a good build.  I looked for a long time for a car and it just seemed right.  I was going to take the stickers off but the kids like them, so they have stayed.
Sorry I left early and did not get a chance to chat to everyone, needed to get back for a family meal - balancing all interests!!  Hopefully meet up at one of the other events soon.

Regards, Steve.

A great turnout from the BKCC on Sunday.  Nice to see the stand full of cars  :)

Well, I set off early on Monday only to find on shutting and looking my front door the key remained trapped in the lock :( >:( so after many hours of faffing around getting the lock off and trying to find a New one on a bank holiday Monday I managed to get going again. Needless to say I was very late with only one car left on the stand.

Ah well, I still managed a quick look around and have a chat with a few people.

The journey was on the way to the Curborough sprint event which I am doing today so all was not lost.

Sorry I didn't manage to catch up with anybody and it was a real shame the weather wad so bad on Monday.

There,s always next year I suppose.

Hi Steve, I knew I was right! :D Couldn't be 2 like that! Yep, decent bloke and I bet he was gutted to see it go. And DO NOT take the stickers off, that's what makes it. People are always making good comments about that car ;)

Maybe catch-up at the Sunday club meet?

It was indeed a great show, as a Stoneleigh virgin it was definitely worth the trip.  My resident financial adviser even managed to stop my wallet leaping out of my pocket to buy a number of cars and lots of other nice things.

I've only got a couple of photos but I'll put them up when I get back home.  That includes the BKCC entertainment: Brian, Anna, a tent and the incredible asthmatic sounding air bed pump...

was a good weekend break , just a shame it rained at 11 on the Monday Morning

Thanks to Bri and Anna for the use of their spare bedroom

I did have luck finding the pair of polished Race cats I wanted and got them for a brill price, so well chuffed  :D

Glad we had a fire on the go, all six of us huddled around it, red hot front and freezing backs - good fun though

think Ken and Dave had a grand time in the Gay B and B they stayed in  - although not a lot said about it in the morning  ;)

roll on next year

Thought I'd put this up, The repair tape I got at Stoneleigh sealed and held my Hydrulic Clutch pipe very well for the run home.

On the way up I  had a small problem with my clutch pipe, it's a nylon pipe and runs very close to the exhust manifold and at some point managed to touch melting a small pinprick of a hole in the pipe  :'( (only halfway to Stoneleigh) so a cable tie to hold it away and a top up of fluid kept me going whilst trying not to use my clutch as much as poss'. I came home on the Motorways for ease of driving.
