Next Sunday is predicted to be right in the middle of a dry spell which means that there should be a great turnout for the monthly Avenue Drivers Club at Queen Square.
One of the last good days (before "summer") saw 3.5 sides of Queen Square full of great cars so this should be well worth a visit.
So who's up for it? I'm coming from North Bristol if anyone wants a bit of a convoy down. Lets make the most of the Indian Summer (all 7 days of it)!

I am definitely up for it, will make my way down from Gloucester hope to be there before 10.00, anywhere in particular you meet, never been before.
Good question Steve.
Are there any meets en-route planned? We will be going from Burton then over M4 J18 on the A46, along the A420 then A4174 and A4. (I hate motorways!), could meet you on the way down Steve if you like?
We were thinking of trying to get there for 9am, not sure when everyone else gets there?
JB
No meets beforehand planned that I know of although if you're coming down from Gloucester i'm about 20mins south of J14 (Coalpit Heath) so we could meet somewhere north of Bristol and head in?
If you do end up making your own way then just head to Queen Square in town, find a space and enjoy. I'll probably be aiming for 9am as well.
Yeah, it starts around 9:00 in the Square, doubt if we'll be down before 9:30, got to get everyone ready first (save us a spot ;) )
I'm not far from the A420 and my road runs staight into town missing Kingswood High st, join us if you like. can PM addie if wanted.
8)
Sounds OK mate. PM me your postcode and address and let me know what time you want us to get there.

Looks like it'll be a big ol turn out from BKCC whichll be awesome. Imagine I'll make it down about 9.30 so see you there!
I'm aiming to get there early, before 9.00, that way I hope to get ahead of Hairy Santa in the queue for the bacon butties :D

Took loads of pics... Will up-load later..
Great morning, great turnout. Shame we weren't all parked together and sorry I didn't catch up with everyone. I did however feel like royalty being waved at by loads of people as I drove round the square looking for a space haha.
I organised an Abarth meet and had 10 cars show up, it was a busy social morning.

Hi All, Yes ,I was there parked on the Welsh Back side next the curb if anyone spotted my '7' but the trouble was that I don't really know anyone as I only attended a few of the Sunday evening meets at the Lockeeper when I first joined the club. I was spotted by one tall chap who seemed to recognise me as I was leaving the square today, but I really wasn't sure about anyone else .Brian's comment about arranging an area for BKCC seems a great idea, so we would at least be all together .Does the club meet at all these days as it seemed there was a lot of talk about changing venue but maybe I missed the final decision for a regular one . If we do have a regular meeting place will someone let the cat out of the bag as you all seemed a friendly bunch when I did meet you but as mentioned it was quite a time ago.
Not being critical ,it's just an observation. It was a great turnout with loads if interesting motors to look at on a smashing sunday morning. Perfect :P
Shame you didn't park in the square, we missed your car as we didn't go out of the square and as to trying to get a space for just our club, on a day as good as yesterday I think we'd all have had to be there from before 8:00 :o
This is really the only regular meet for the club some do meet up at the Riverside in Saltford on a Thursday eve but as the evenings are drawing in now that isn't so popular.
I understand not all can make it on a Sunday eve to a meeting but still would like to have a more dedicated time for the club other than the Queens square venue.
What I'm thinking is something like, the last Sunday of the month (to give a gap from Queens Square) possibly late morning to help those that can't get up early. But also have 3-4 venues around Bristol i.e. North, South, East and West (ish) and alternate with these (details of next meeting highly visible here on the site.
North could be the Parkway Tavern (or somewhere further up the A38 towards Thornbury)
South could be the Travelers Rest just before Pensford
East could still be the Riverside, Saltford (though this is more SE Bristol, maybe move to near Wick on the A420)
West could be somewhere downs or a bit further out (don't know any pubs that way :-[)
But as it is now we arn't getting to meet new members properly as we are all spred out at the Square and evening meets aren't very well attended.

Yep, that would be me then :D And we saw your car even if no-one else did chap ;) I thought I recognised it. Looks good!
John
Brian, for North, what about somewhere like the Wishing Well http://www.marstonspubs.co.uk/wishingwell/ (http://www.marstonspubs.co.uk/wishingwell/) at Codrington? The car park is a good size and clearance shouldn't be an issue. It's on the Westerleigh Rd from Pucklechurch. I know there's a couple of our members in that live in that area too.
Agree with all that bri, for west ,could use the new inn at blagdon, best pub view in the area but does get busy on Sunday lunch.
To Peter, Blagdon is south Bristol, but I'm not looking for nywhere to far out of town.
John, I think a few went up to the pub in Codrington and thought the parking wasn't very good.
I've started a new thread to cover this http://bristolkitcarclub.co.uk/smf2/index.php?topic=2246.new#new (http://bristolkitcarclub.co.uk/smf2/index.php?topic=2246.new#new)

There are quite a few of our members cars there though can't find mine :'( lol. A good one of Pete's Daytona ;D
8)
How did Pete get both cars up to the Square??
Thats some nice cars and good photos.. Even my car is here :D :D :D
Hi Brian and everyone. You mistook my reply I was in the square(Cos that's where the meet was TE HE!!!) but parallel with Welsh Back.Anyway you missed me but Yellabelly didn't. Cheers chap. :D :P
nice pictures of nice cars, but it does annoy me that they take pictures - without asking - and then slap a copyright on them so so cant download them yourself

Think these pics are a collection of pics from through out the years meets ::) Because on some of them the ground is quite wet and some look pretty cold as well. lol
There is another collection of them from 2011 as well
8)
Bri yours is on there.
If you click on the photo of my westy you can see your back wheel in the background. :P :P :P :P
Well spotted. I'll treasure that pic. Lol. ;D
8)
We'll it's looking dry on Sunday and Bri has practically finished Anna's car so what other reason does anyone need to go to Queen Square on Sunday. Who's up for it? Got to treat every meet like its your last at this time of year!
How about a meet just outside Bristol for a massive kitcar convoy into the square???
I wish it was Anna's car... :( This is one thats been in the garage for 2 years holding me up. Should have been a quick do-up but didn't work out that way. And it's not even mine. >:(.
Got a froiend following me down to the square in case of problems, so will just see you guys down there. (if it dry)
8)
Will try and get down this Sunday for a coffee and chat, just hope the grand children sleep in,
at least until I get the car out of the garage :-X
Going to the square sunday, hopefully with the Dutton which is still in the garage on stands since Le mans trip. No speedo yet! all other repairs completed... Saturday prep work hope to be there :)
Hope to make it, but the weather forecast doesn't look too promising :(
Has anymore come of a 'convoy' into the square?
I have the waders and the brollies ready :D
Looking at the forecast Pete, I think we'll need more than wellies!
I was going to sell my boat, but not sure what to do now! Might come in handy at this rate.....
It's not looking great for Sunday, I'll keep a little eye on it but its not looking hopeful.
Last night the weather forecast on my phone for Sunday was crap, this morning complete change to a bright sunny day. Lets hope they are right now. :-\
8)
I'm sure it will change several times before Sunday!
Any updates on a 'run-in' meet?
Not that I know of, but your welcome to come and watch me cough and splutter my way down in the Gentry if I get it going long enough. Lol. :D
8)
It looks like we're all the same side of Bristol at the moment so could meet somewhere near Brian and head down? Yellabelly - I'm down in Coalpit Heath so could meet up and head in from the North, picking Brian up on the way through?
Sure we could tie Almondsbury as well!
I will be working this sunday. Sorry I can't make it. :'(
No can do this weekend.. Grand-parent duties yet again :)
Any one fancy meeting at the Aldi Carpark (Bradley Stoke) for 09:30 North Bristol ?
We can then take a run over the downs and along the portway
Steve
I'd be happy with Bradley Stoke, so long as its dry obviously!
Grin, I could meet up with you on the Badminton Rd I guess (A432)?
This is assuming the weather is with us of course. What time would you be setting off and where would be a good pick-up point?
John
I only going to be driving striaght down from my house to the Square. I've even got a friend following with his Landy incase of breakdown. Lol ???
8)
Didn't even get out of the garage!!!! puddle of brown oil under the car.... checked the oil level and it came out light brown with water dripping off the dipstick! So p....d of now with this car.
will be going down in the Bulldog still though. ;D
8)
Will be at Aldi Bradley stoke for 9.30am , weather should be ok :)
I think me and Yellabelly are meeting near my place and heading to Bradley stoke for 9.30 as well so see you there!

Yes. See you at the Square tomorrow.
I'm coming down with Dave Doom, should get there for 9.30 - looks like a good turn out again 8)
:D Well I made it albeit for just over half an hour. God it was a cold run down for me tho.. Frost and fog, brrrrrrrrrrrr
Sorry I didnt have a chance to chat to all of you but had to be back here for noon..
Well a great turnout again - brill to see so many club members present
good weather and good company - what more could you ask

Yep,good turnout, and I agree with Pete, be nice if we could get higher numbers at the club meets :)
Definitely cold this morning though, and sooooo glad I fitted the wipers, after I met up with Darren we hit a few good patches of fog, and it would have been entertaining without them :o :o
It was a good meet, thought the fog might've put people off but loads of nice cars there too.
Sorry about the route home Yellabelly, I missed the turn into Henleaze and cuffed it from there! At least there were lots of pretty girls sweating in Lycra to keep us entertained!

Don't worry about the wrong turn Darren, still enjoyed the run home. Just be glad when I can sort the rough running out.
Looking forward to the next sunny run ;D ;D
Good run down from North Bristol even if we got split up on the way, we managed to end up in the same part of the square,
its obviously a very popular meeting place due to the variety of cars arriving, hence I have added a few pictures to entice others.

feel free to delete any that are not you club cars, cheers for now
8) Thats some nice pics you took mate.
There's some good picture on your Flickr site, you even manage to make my car look clean, thanks!
Ditto! And you can't see the wrinkles in my car either :D
:PDidn't anyone spot "The pratt with the hat " then in the photos.Didn't even know I was caught on camera but a good shot of me driving the Hood all the same.Sorry but someone had to say it.
Yeah we saw you and waved out near the Lawrence Hill roundabout as you were heading in to town. ;D
We must have just missed you with the camera, I did see someone taking photos as we were leaving but think you were waiting for us to go by. :'(

Well the weather should be ok for Sunday 9th Dec so who fancies Queen's Square this weekend?
It's the last Queens Square run of the year so grab your coats and hats and come on down!!
Any takers?
yep, we're planning on going, if the weathers ok.
8)
Yes, planning to go in the Westfield if the weather is OK.
sounds good to me
is the cafe gonna be open - just checking ;)
I could do with giving the car a run, hasn't been started for weeks!
Weather permitting I'm game.
Darren, you want to meet up at the pub again if it's fine?

Sounds good to me, it looks like the rev limiter is coming this time as well - if she can find enough warm clothes anyway! I cant remember what time we met last time so shall we say - 0900?
Seems like a plan to me mate :)
Not sure whether Jan will be coming though, this weather causes her mucho problems with her rhumatoid arthritis :( If she doesn't come my eldest offspring might instead.
All being well, see you Sunday morning ;)
I won't be there. westy is out of action at the mo. Even if it was ok I prob won't be fit to drive anyway with a saturday night christmas dash.
Sorry missed this thread. Count me in if the Hood behaves. Running a bit ruff in the week but hope to be there. May even be sporting my new goggles.!!! :P
Yet again, working, bugger
Guilty today, I couldn't be bothered to get out of bed then I had the offer of a fry-up for breakfast. ;D Who could refuse that? (Pete) :P

Well it wasn't like we didn't try - me and Yellabelly got so far as Henleaze and the Locost suffered a broken clutch cable. By the time it was all sorted it was quite late so we headed for home. It was a bit of a run out so not all bad!
Thanks again for your help Darren, really appreciate ;)
Well chaps I didn't get a fry up for breakfast, I don't have a clutch cable to break(wouldn't wish a breakdown on anyone) and the Hood behaved itself really well so I made it to Queens Square for about 11am but spotted NO 7's or familiar faces so after doing 1 circuit, I pootled orf home Had my photo taken a few times though Ahem!! and a few admiring glances ( I think) or they may have thought -what a daft bugger with a furry flying helmet and jacket in a a'7' Actually thought that I was just too late and missed you all ....still some of us made the effort even if you did have probs.
Best wishes for a Merry Xmas and see you all in the New Year Take care everyone S 7. ;) ;D :P

Well it's that time of the month, anyone Queen Squaring this weekend? It's supposed to be dry (if a bit chilly)!
Only if I can loose the boy for the morning and I can get the car running. Lol, Sob. :'(

Yep. Got MOT now so legit again.
I'm hoping to be there if it is dry. :)
Dixie and Myself are going to "The South and West Mini Show" at Bath and West Show ground (see post) so can't make it.
No can do I'm afraid. The car is off the road at the mo, can't afford the tax and I'd sooner make sure she's on the road for the 'summer' :(
Went down to the square this morning in the tin top, a few of the clubs turned up despite the rain but didnt stay for long,
a quick coffee a lap of the square then home again,
Roll on the summer and some dry weather!!
Did wonder if anyone would go down while I was sat in bed listening to the rain.. :'(

I think it's the queen square meet this weekend and this is likely to be about be best weather we'll get and should encourage a massive turn out - so who's in?
1. Grinalot
2........
Anyone fancy a convoy from north bristol?
Yes, I'm going.
I'm up for the convoy but, as I'm not sure exactly when I can get out the door on Sunday morning, I can't guarantee meeting you on time. Let me know the details but don't hang around for me if I'm late. ;)
I'll send you my mobile number privately then if we manage to get a convoy (noting that most cars seemed to die at the Llandow trackday) then you can text me if you'll make it or not.
The way ive seen you drive your car makes me think you'll get there in time regardless of when you leave the house!
I won't be there this week. I'm taking the westy in the shape of a beatle on the Isle of White kit car run. SumoV8 will be our Bristol Kit Car Club convoy. ::) :P
Any other takers for this one?!?
It be a great day for car driving I reckon!
I should make it if I'm up early, could be a full house me thinks
Hopefully I should be there, out on Saturday night. Depends if I have a hangover.... ???
See you there on the 14th July Darren bright and early I hope anyway. 8) ;D
If I could get 2 child seats in the MK I would come ;D.. Kind of tricky to get out at the weekend now that the son's moved back home and we have both kids..
Won't be there, giving the Hood a run to the coast with the Wife.....she's on look out duty for high speed bumps!! ;D
See some of you down the then - I'm meeting Yellabelly at 9am in Coalpit Heath so we'll be there 9.30ish.
Wow, just got down here and there are two and a half sides full already. It's going to be busy today!
every man and his dog there today , biggest turn out ever and quite a few of our lot
Cracking turnout and bl**dy HOT!! Good few of the club too and nice to catch up.
It was nice to get in the shade on the run home to cool off, my feet were cooking by the time I got home, but at least the Locost behaved and never went above 95deg even sat in Bristol traffic :)

Never fails to please with the cars at the Square. Nice pics..
This event would be even better if everyone decided to drive somewhere.
