I have spoken to the organizer of Berkeley castle car show. They normally only show classic cars but they were very interested in us showing some of ours. :)
This show is free & they will send me a group form to fill in then passes can be issued so you can show your car. They have about 400-500 cars in the show as well as louds of stalls.
We would have to turn up by 9.30 before it is open to the public & would have to stay there until 4.30 (though I'm shore they will help you leave early with the help of marshalls if you need to go).
Now for the bad news. It's on the same day as The Footman James Bristol 35th Classic Car Show. which is sunday 15th June. (Fathers day) ::)
So what do you think? We are still invited to do the Bereley Castle club day out & we can still do the Berkeley castle car show as well? Or we can do the The Footman James Bristol 35th Classic Car Show & Bereley Castle club day out?
I know this may open a can of worms so please can you say which of the two options you would like to do? :)
I would sooner do the Berkeley car show, Iv been to this a few times before and there have always been a few kit cars.
I know Dixie won't stay there for 6hrs, 3 hrs max......that goes for me as well.
I haven't done either so I cannot balance which is best. But if it is is a fine day Berkey is a bit posher perhaps. A nice day out for the girls and perhaps a fine picnic with Pymms on the lawn 8). If Footman James is too good to miss then we could do the Berkley run-out instead.
I would like to just visit the castle with no restrictions.
I will be organizing the club day out here anyway. This way we will get a free guide around the castle, as well as we have the day to come & go as we please, plus parking next to the castle 8), & maybe a club picnic if the weather is kind? ;D
I'm also thinking I could also do the The Footman James Bristol 35th Classic Car Show on the saturday & the Berkeley car show on the sunday.
So who is up for this?
1, moleman
2, Walnut
anyone else?
Iv never had any prob. coming or going when ever iv wanted
sounds good to me, possibly be able to pick you 2 up on the way there
With good weather it could be a classy day. There is also a very good but little known pretty route via Olveston, Oldbury, Bevington - as all of this area id bypassed by two motorways there is not much traffic and some really nice lanes - here's are some samples

Happy to plan the route if you would like me to Colin
Doing the Bristol Classic car show on the Saturday and Berkeley Classic car show on the Sunday seems the only and most obvious solution for all those up for it (or them). Can't see any probs with that, so put me down for both please and lets hope the weather holds.
If you are not aware though, for anyone who has not been to the Berkeley show before you DO NOT park up on nice flat lawn. Far from it. The show is held in the meadows next to the castle and from what I remember it ain't like a bowling green so anyone with a super low sump, like Tony at Dyrham Park may have a problem.
No I'm not putting a downer on this show as it's usually very well attended but I'm just giving the heads up. :) :) :)
Ian. We will have to be there early, I have 2 possible meeting points planned as It's north Bristol where I'm from I have that covered thanks.
ps i can't see your routes with the links you have put on? may be me though? :)
Sprint7 I will be checking this out mate. :)
Ok list so far.

Please note: I will still be doing the Berkeley castle club day out. ;D
Sorry Collin/All - I goofed and pasted the same non-working link three times Doh!

If you visit google maps and use streetview you can take a direct look at these lovely lanes

Ian. Most people won't want to go down country lanes while heading for a car show on the early hours of a sunday morning. It's fine on runs out but not car shows. The last thing people want to do is walk around the car show covered in mud. I did say leave this one to me mate. :)
I could be wrong? ::) :) Thanks for your enthusiasm though mate. I normally do thoughs routes on the way home. ;D
Ok list so far.

I have the FORM for this one which you need to fill in to take part in this one. ::)
Send me a pm to give me your email address & I will forward it on to you. :D
Not many have requested the FORM for this one.
You won't get in if you don't do one guys! :)
Working another evening shift Lol. :P Glad its a Sunday though no Judo! :D We can meet up with convoy if there is one?? But need to leave at 3ish again! :)
I will arrange a convoy to there a bit closer to the date Anna. :)
Has everyone done a form for this now?
Dear Chaps and Chappesses,
I did a bit of a straw poll at the Riverside and there were mutterings of approval for making this a girls day out because it is the perfect venue. Gents all scrubbed-up and preened and posh frocks for the lady-folk. Wifey is very keen to do this and to meet the other halves. So I want to propose that we make this an official ladies day and make a bit of a bash of it.
Wifey does lovely cakes and a bit of bubby would not go amiss. So what I am going to suggest is that we bring chairs or rugs, picnic kit and have a bring and share feast. I am expecting lots of posh sandwiches, cake, scones, strawberies and cream and maybe even some crumpet turning up.
Those with a boot might have to carry some cargo for the under-booted but I am sure we could work something out.
I am sure all the ladies will come if they know they will not be outnumbered. So what do you think?
Ian
Sounds like a good idea mate. I will bring cake but I may have to eat most of it to get it to fit in my boot. 8)
I can't, I'm wenchless :'( . I could bring my dog, he likes cake :D

Hope the weather is good! Brian can bring trailer if anyone wants to put stuff in there. Picnic sounds nice if its sunny ;). we will be up for this.
Are we going as a convoy group or making our own way and meeting there?
8)
I will arrange one mate. My local is letting me use their car park to meet up on the Sunday morning. It will be the Air Ballon BS34 7PY on the A38. You might know it. ;D then we just have to go along the A38 all the way. 8)
My goggle maps say it will take 20mins so I'm thinking we should meet there about 8.45 am.
Who is up for this then? :D
Is that the pub on the roundabout
Yes, just be careful going in to the car park, sometimes the car behind doesn't realise your indicating in rather than just coming off the roundabout, seen so many near misses there.
8)
Sounds good to me. I will ask my rear-gunner to load-up and keep the enemy off my tail as I make the turn :P
Look forward to it! :) will be bringing our hamper! :P
Has anyone not had their pass for this one yet? You will need it to get in. Please let me know so I can ring them & see if you can just turn up. :)
See you at the air ballon, I bring a chair this time.

No, not had anything though here :'(
8)
Got mine
Colin we haven't had our passes :(.
I'm sorry to say guys if you haven't got your pass then you won't get in to show your car. Some seem to have gotten lose. Sorry about that. ::)
I have spoken to the nice lady about the missing passes but there is not much else they can do as there is no more passes left so they are not able to send anymore out. These things happen I'm afraid sorry guys.
I also have to let you know that if you are not saying for the whole day then they have asked that you don't go as they would rather you didn't leave until the end of the day.
This also means I'm not going to be able to go as I was planning on leaving about 2 so I can get my car ready & on the trailer for Castle Combe on the Monday, so I will have to give it a miss. I will probably go to the Bristol car show for a few hours in Shepton Mallet if the weather is ok.
So who on the list has Passes & are still going? :)
Nope. No passes here and as they don't want us leaving till it finishes then that to counts us out as Anna is working that eve :'(
8)
Well looks like they are disorganised to me and just being arkward >:(. Bri doesn't think we will get in without passes and we don't have ours. If weather holds out we plan on going for a drive and a picnic somewhere else.
Anyone else without passes up for this??
Any suggestions on locations? :D
That is a nice idea but may be a bit late getting people to say what they want to do.
How many people has a pass & are planning on going? :)
How many people that was planning on going but don't have a pass & would like to do a picnic instead?
There is still the Bristol Classic car show at Shepton Mallet?
Thanks for your support Colin! Well not sure where we are going yet but not Shepton Mallet too pricey! :-[
Am I right in thinking that this show is open to 'joe public', who can come and go as they please?
Is there a charge for admission? If so, how much? If it is a reasonable fee, why not stage our own show?
We all meet up at Filton and turn up together at Berkeley, if we can't get in due to the lack of passes then we go in the car park, park as a group and do a picnic or whatever. We then leave when it suits us.
I will be making my own way there, see anyone that are still going there
Benchmark51. There is a fee to get in but I can't remember how much though. So you could try that. :)

O.A.P £5.00

3 OUTINGS IN LESS THAN A WEEK IS A RECORD FOR ME.!!!!!
I did mention to the chaps who went to Wrington last evening that I am unable to go to Berkeley on Sunday as I now have to do escort duty at work that day.(No Walnut , NOT the sort of escort that you probably were thinking of ,and I don't mean a Ford one either)
I too didn't get a pass so it's their loss ain't it.
Nice little gathering last night and a nice sunny morning at Queens Sq. on Sunday too.
Don't know if they're still on offer but I got 2 tickets for Shepton either day on amazon for £11. Bargain I thought.
Have a good weekend what ever you get up to. ;D ;D ;D
Your right, I was thinking that.......LOL
Hello all,
It seems so disappointing that Berkley Castle seems to treat us with such disregard so I am going to suggest an alternative so that we still have our nice day out and everybody can attend!8) 8) 8)
Just 1.5 miles to the east of Berkley Castle and the other side of the M5 is a spectacular location for a picnic called Stinchcombe Hill. It has the best view in the county and is exactly the same distance. The rendezvous would be exactly the same at the Air-balloon and leaving at 9:00 as before. I can lead the way or Brian could set his sat-nav for Stinchcombe hill golf club which is right next-door, GL11 6AQ following the A38 right up to Berkley then turning right to Dursley. We would arrive at about 10:00 and I suggest we have an early lunch and then leave early so that those who have to get away can do so. Same arrangement as before - bring and share picnic.
It has for years been a hot-spot for photographers and radio-controlled gliders.
Some pics: http://www.britaininfocus.org.uk/gallery/landscapes/countryside/00699-stinchcombe-hill/
Take a look here: It is better than streetview makes it look!

The good thing is we can decide the outcome on Sunday morning! The picnic doesn't change - it is just a matter of where it is!
We wont be going. Its reasonable for one person but theres 3 of us and not happy to pay almost 20 quid. Also on principle for their disorganisation of not sending passes! >:(

Hi Ian What a fantastic location. ;) You are clever! :PWe are definitely happy to come along to that!
Yehhh!!!! 8) 8) 8)
I'll bring the bubbly and Wifey will make some cake :P :P :P
I'm very interested Ian. I will let you know tomorrow. 8)
Shame I cant have any bubbly as Im driving and then working! :(
We will be at the Air balloon for 9 am for the picnic. I will cook some pizza & sausage rolls for the day. ;D
I will be making my own way to Berkeley
You will have to take some pictures for us Tony. As we are unable to go with no passes & having to leave early. Never mind these things happen. :)
You can always show me the pictures on Monday at Castle Combe just before I give you a ride around the circuit. 8)
Pics I don't do, and rides around castle combe is a no no for me......LOL
Awww :'(
8)
Just to say to everyone who is going to Berkeley Castle or the Classic Motor Show, have a great day.
For those who was going to go to Berkeley but don't have passes we will still be meeting at the Air Balloon for 9 am to drive to a scenic location not far from there if you want to join us. 8)
A lovely alternative day out from Berkeley Castle! Great idea Ian.

We are so pleased you enjoyed it - it is quite a special place. Good company - a good time.
It was a good day. ;D
Sorry that I couldn't make today as I was working but am pleased you all had a good time . A day like that is often just as enjoyable as attending a car show/meet. We must do it again so that I can go too, if you'll have me that is.
Shepton was a good day as I didn't have to spend a bean. My pal's treat for looking after his dog for a month and we even blagged it in on a £11 Amazon voucher so a result all round. (Been taking thrift lessons from Walnut !! :P :P )
See you all soon :D
What was going on here then? :o :P
