At last I got my car back from the engine builder JB Racing on the industrial estate near Holcombe and a very good job he done too.
Here's a few pics. he took whilst rebuilding the engine:

He cut off my old sump which only held 3 litres of oil and welded on a new enlarged one which was baffled out
and holds 4.5 litres.

He ended up re-boring it to 2.2lts, with lightweight and hardened pistons.
Skimming the head to give higher compression ratio.
Replacing and re-cutting valve seats etc. whilst doing the stage one head.
Fitting fast road cam and new uprated spring etc.
Rebuilding the bottom end and regrinding the crank.
Rebuilding Weber.
Replacing oil pump, water pump, clutch, distributor cap and leads.
Powder coating the engine and rocker cover.
Run in the cam and engine on dyno. for 2 hours then tuned engine and carbs on rolling road.

looks awesome! Hope you can keep it that clean :)
Now that's a clean engine :o hope you can keep it looking that good ;D and don't go hitting any more speed humps with it :P
Btw. after all that work on it, what's it putting out on the road? ::)

Very nice job. What did it get on the dyno?

It's only lightly tuned 'cause I valued the economy with the Weber DGAV.
If I bolted on twin 40's or 45's it would make about 150-165bhp but with the DGav it's only putting out 138bhp with a very tight engine and 146ftlb of torque.
Obviously i'm taking it easy at the moment keeping the revs. around 3000 - 4000 but it feels a lot quicker.
Jamie tells me the old engine was absolutely knackered as it had done 80,000 miles without coming apart and was barely
putting out 75bhp......got to be better!!!!! ::)
Well that is quite a result and he did very impressive work there. Loads of run-outs required now to loosen her up.

That's quite respectable. You will notice s big difference once its run in a bit 8)
