Title: Simplest way to get to Trackday Solutions??
Post by: Dixie on 18, March, 2015, 10:12:34 AM
Finally got my car booked in at Dave's place to have a full set up.

Looking on Google Earth it looks like its in the middle of "No where".  So far I have decided to go via Castle Coombe, turn off right in the village head towards Grittleton, go under the motorway?? and then out into the sticks to find some mushrooms.

As you guys have been before, is this the best way?

thanks Mark

Can be trickey to find. I don't where you are coming from but I used google maps on my phone. I came along the A420 and followed directions. When your quite close you'll be on a long straightish country road
that has a small new section with barriers, not far past that section you will turn left into what looks like a driveway into a house, as you get to the house, go right and you'll see a garage. Thats not it, you then go left before the garage and as far as you can go. You may see a Beagle dog on a tether, he's very friendly and does like bickies and chews! :P. If you find yourself on the crossroad outside Grittleton house school, there is a sign opposite and you need to follow toward Serston. Hope it helps.

Will be coming up from Bath, Swanswick Hill, turning right on round about before Pensilvania and towards Castle Coombe.

Ok, so up A46 to the roundabout, turn right onto A420 past Marshfield and turn left at North Wraxall. Stay on that road, under the M4 and on toward Grittleton. You get to a crossroad, opposite the school and turn left on to Alderton road for about 3 miles. You then turn off the road into a driveway, go up to the house and drive around to the back. Your there! (SN16 0JZ)

Hi Mark - be careful I got lost going there very recently.  The Google pointer on Dave's web site is currently six miles off course! :o

Make sure you have Dave's mobile number and you may need to drive around a bit to get a signal!

If you get lost - find Sherston and when entering it going North East on the B4040, turn right just beyond of the village and where the road forks keep to the right.

After one mile you will pass Ladyswood mansion and farm then you will come to a junction on you right with a lonesome Red post box on a pillar.  Turn right and 200 yards down, take the second right driveway towards the farmhouse.  Pass by it on your left and go to the back of the farmyard and Dave will be in the barn ahead of you.

Take sandwiches because the only food round there is still on four legs!  ;D

He will need you to sit in the car when doing the set up to get the corner weight balance right so you won't be going anywhere while he is doing it mate.  :D
It's not too bad for me as I'm not that heavy but I think he has his work cut out with you in it.  :P

Good thread guys

Ian , the sandwiches are IN the four legs, with the cat food, bones, biscuits and the odd bit of carrion.

I have got the Web master to move the pin.
It was by the gate just now and later today should be into the farm buildings.

As Dave said, from Bath  A46 > A420 through Marshfield and Ford.
Just past the George inn Turn left (signed Yatton Keynell I think But opposite Bidistone).
Into Yatton Keynell - Fork right (to Grittleton)
Over cross roads (School on the right).
You come on to Fosse way. Over the new rail bridge and left at the Mushrooms (last entrance before junction).
