Title: Compomotive Refurb
Post by: Murdoch on 28, November, 2009, 05:56:26 PM
Me again.
Along with refurb of seats, we need to tart up the compo wheels - they are in good nick but the varnish is flaking off etc.
Anyone got any ideas - either of DIY kits or good reliable (and cheap) companies who will do this for us ?
Cheers
Steve

Hello Steve.

I see the type of wheels you have are very complex in design and would therefore be a nightmare to DIY. The usual DIY method is very labour intensive using various grades of paper and wet and dry etc, but with the almost spoke-like structure of your wheels, I would think it almost impossible to do a good job yourself.

If they are really bad, you might be able to pick up a second hand set cheaper than a professional refurb?

Down Muller road nearly opposite B&Q there is a place. I believe they do wheels refurbing there. If you like them you could get a custom job then they are personal but if its money saving, Phil might be right. Worth a look though
