Title: No more club meets till the spring?
Post by: 'The Gaffer' on 12, January, 2010, 12:30:20 AM
I am seriously contemplating scrapping regular meets until the spring and leaving it up to individual members to organise get-togethers through the forum if they wish.

I don't expect a great response to this thread as the forum is so quiet right now, but I would be interested in your views.

What do you think?

I would like to see them carry on, just a shame that yesterdays meet was in the middle of all this bad weather

all we need if for this white stuff gone , a few good downpours of rain to wash all the evil salt away and we will be able to rock and roll again

just my 2 pennies worth, sorry I didn't turn in but had a bit of a problem to sort out

Carry them on, that's my vote.

Made the last one even if it was a bit small, still good to catch up.

Perhaps try an evening meet in the week as well.

I'm with Hairy on this one, once the bad weather has gone meetings will be better attended.

The majority of members also have at least 10miles to travel and after the day I had on Sunday, Ididn't want to play in it any more.  :(

I have difficulty with Sunday evenings anyway.... an evening in the week would suit me fine, unless I go without my Sunday dinner!  :o

Keep them going.
Last Sunday's weather was unfortunate

I think it'll be fine to keep them going, just be ready to cancel if the weather is poor as nobody's going to turn up.

During the dark evenings the Keynsham place is a little too far for me.  When the warmer weather comes it wont be an issue.

I think the club needs the monthly meet.

I must admit, it would be a shame to not have any for that long a period, but to be honest, it's a fair hike for me and so I don't get to make too many as well as work commitments. But I still vote to keep them going as much as poss.

It has been mentioned before but I think we need a few satelite "homes" and even a very central one.

If we can have say a 1st /2nd/3rd item a month in the more clement weather and go out from Bristol in each direction, that way we can pick up a few in the outlying places and have a bit of a run.

Sunday morning breakie run to Hartley's would be one of my suggestions.

Perhaps a place up near Westonbirt or up Gloucester A38 route. Perhaps even Eastish - Corsham area would work as well.

It is not easy for everything to be Sunday so would suggest a Sunday and midweek in the better weather.

For breakfasts or late morning always happy to nip to Hartleys if any of you down this way.

Agreed Rich, some serious thought is going to go into club meets for 2010.

It appears for the moment though that the format is not worth messing with until the warmer weather, so until the spring meets will continue at the Lock Keeper in Keynsham.
