Well, it's getting close to paint time :). I'm after advice as to where to buy the paint. I know Hairy said at the show yesterday that there are some sites on t'internet but not sure which are reliable, I don't want to order one colour and end up with a completely different one, so pete, if you have any links I would be grateful.

There is a car paint supplier near my work in Swindon and I think it's around £30/litre which I am assuming is OK? If it's too expensive then let me know guys.

Any input/advice is welcomed.

Thanks

John

Hi John,

I've not used them for paint yet i just buy panel wipe from them, but the place i get my cars sprayed somtimes get there paint from the CAR PAINT WAREHOUSE. its been a while since i went there but it looks like they moved here is there website: www.carpaintwarehouse.co.uk.

Helpful when i went.

Cheers.

I could get the paint through my son's body shop maybe.......i take it your talking about 2-pack as opposed to water-base or cellelose?

You need a full respiratory breathing mask with its own air supply for 2-pack as its got cyanide in it......not good. !!......and a heated booth unless your going to air dry it. (not recomended)

Give me a PM if you want to contact him.

Thanks guys.

Fozzie Bear, there is a car paint warehouse near to my work in Swindon, and they are as you say very helpful. But he originally said about me using 2-pack, but as Tony says, it's nasty stuff and I really think I would be better off using something else.

Tony, I asked them about supplying cellulose, and I was told that they could supply me polyester basecoat and a clear coat laquer. I assume that is NOT 2-pack then? They also said that they could supply pearl, so I guess that does not need a top coat? If you could ask your son what he recommends and what price he could supply the paint (if he would) that would be good.

If your using Pearl you want to know what your doing with a spray gun.....and you need lots of coats of lacquer to get the full effect.

Cellulose is not used commercially anymore (they're not allowed to use it)....he uses 2-pack or water-base.

I expect what they are selling is Acrylic Paint ..... as used in touch up cans.

Hairy Santa

if its Cele your after look on ebay under Cele paint, some of the sellers are big boys and would appear to be getting their paint from the right places and its looks quite reasonable, and would apear to be able to supply any colour in the charts, worth a look I think as this stuff might not put you in a early grave as 2 pack will
