Suggestions for 2015
Last year I started a thread for suggestions for 2014 which went down really well & I'm hoping to get just as good response for this one.  :)

Between Iancider & myself we covered most of the suggestions put forward last year with quite a good success rate.  8)
We didn't get many events rained off in the end, we had some events with only a few guys attend & with quite a lot where we had a gret turnout which was really good to see & for which we thank you all for coming along & making it worth the effort.  ;D

We did a number of things from Car shows, Track days, Weekends away to Cornwall, Up north & Snowdonia with the Zip wire, Day trips out on Sundays to our two regular monthly meeting.

So get your thinking caps on guys? ;)
This is a great club & me & Ian would like your suggestions for next year. It can be anything you think would be a good thing to do. From improving things we did but you thought we should have incorporated something else with it to something completely different.
It's up to you all suggestion's will be looked at. ;D
Thanks Colin

Iancider

I was thinking it would be hard to match the zip wire last year but how about a vertical wind tunnel.   :o :P 8) ;)

Here is a video from Airkix.  They have units at Basingstoke, Milton Keynes and Manchester.  My guess is that the Milton Keynes one would be best - there are some great roads on the way.  We could get a group booking as a corporate event and it is not expensive if we went for a weekday.

Lucky Ed

Looks daft enough for me to have a go :o ;D

Moleman

I'm definitely up for that Ian.  8)

Come on guys lets hear some suggestions. ;D

To start, I am in contact with a fire station who are happy to do a RTA drill for us showing how they cut a casualty out of a car close up. Also a tour of the station and a look over the pumps. We might even get to fire some hoses. More on this later next year.

A few more ideas in the meantime...

Just a few ideas there for consideration. I really want to see the club get a bit more active next year so please do your best to support Colin, Ian and myself by participating in events or putting suggestions forward that would make the club more interesting for you. I am very keen to promote the social side of the club so not everything has to be car related, also consider your partners, maybe they would like to suggest things to do too.

Lets hear from you folks, we are a club after all - Lets get to know each other.

Thats all very well, but what ate we going to do in the afternoon? ;D

Iancider

QuoteThats all very well, but what are we going to do in the afternoon?
Luv it! ;D ;D ;D

Here is something a bit different- Jousting.
Images here: http://www.gopixpic.com/500/jousting-at-knebworth-house/https:||c2*staticflickr*com|6|5028|5789168225_9d81196110_z*jpg/

Now I should mention, this is not a participation sport cos there aren't many bold Knights around anymore.  But a couple of times per year these Champions slog it out at Knebworth Park in Hertfordshire [Close to Ware and Stevenage].  [If you have seen Stevenage you can see why people need to let off steam].  I went some years ago and it was brilliant and the real MCoy.  They actually stop short of Spiked Maces and bashing each other's brains out but the lances are for real.  Not only are these guys good at jousting but they wield a lot of Horsepower and some are Kit Cart enthusiasts  :D

2.5 hours, 3.25 by the pretty route, 140 miles and it looks like about £20 per bod.  Two dates available so far this year on 5th/6th April.  More might be announced later.

Iancider

Phil,

I think we need a Barbie this year but they are so weather dependent that we would need a venue where it is guaranteed to go ahead and pre-payment to ensure that we cover the costs.  So I was thinking Airfield and Aircraft Hangar perhaps.  Then nobody gets wet whatever the weather.  We might be able to arrange that with an aircraft museum visit.  Moleman identified one near Boscombe Down last year (see below) but the weather ironically stopped us going.  We could also make it worthwhile with maybe a big meet say with Bristol Classic Car Club, Pegasus and maybe Apple County?

Looked up the link for Old Sarum Air collection looks good. http://www.boscombedownaviationcollection.co.uk/

The Picnic in lieu of the cancelled Berkley Castle went well and was a Female Friendly event

The Great Redmondo

Is the club attending the London to Brighton Kit & Sports Car run on 31st May ?

Iancider

Here is some food for thought!  Everything here is do-able with the right commitment.

Moleman

Not quite sure your right about this mate.  :P

'The Gaffer'

Ian. I'm sure with all our combined knowledge as a club we should be able to find a covered venue. Time for a bit of research maybe 8)

Quite a journey for the London to Brighton run. Guess we just gauge interest.

Iancider

How about a pucker Steam rally

Here is a good one in Cornwall at Boconnoc near Liskeard 24-27th July http://www.lsvc.org/gallery.html

OR

The Great Dorset Steam Fair Near Blandford Forum 2nd to 6th September http://www.gdsf.co.uk/

OR

Stoke Prior near Worcester 18th to 20th September http://www.shakespearesrally.com/Gallery/Hanbury/Hanbury_Gallery_Frame.htm

Barbeques good idea. Think we should have a few over the summer for whoever is about. I know its weather dependant so will prob have to be at short notice!
Be nice to get together at peoples houses? Or picnic Areas? We can put one in Brian's trailer and bring it somewhere. ;D

Please keep the suggestions coming guys. 8)

I'm also thinking of doing Prescott Speed Hill climb again as last year got rained off for most of us.

Have a look & see if any of these event's take your fancy?

Iancider

Just to add this is the home of the Bugatti owners club and we have a choice of participation and spectator events - often vintage

Iancider

Here is another Hill climb venue in range - Wiscombe Hill in Devon and an exciting video.  We have an open invite to meet with the Torbay motor club at one of their events and they will be at Wiscombe Hill on Saturday 16th May.  Does this appeal?

Fairford Air Tattoo,

One of the Worlds greatest Air Shows is on our doorstep but I suspect many of us have never been.  This is the leading edge and the history all wrapped-up together.  Access has always been the problem and the price for individuals is high even if the value is high too.  But what a day out!  There is a solution: Don't take cars, go in by coach - they get priority access and you can walk into the show quickly and it is nearly half price for a coachload.  We are talking of getting admission down from £36 to £20 plus the coach cost.  Bring your own food and drink and it will be a very good value for money day out Friday 17th to 19th September.

Won't many of you be at Llandow that day? I'd like to do either/both but clashes with something else in my diary.

Waiting for brochures to arrive, with information on the Off Road Karting at Weston lodge shooting ground, Portishead. I am hoping get them to a meet as soon as the arrive.      :o

CLASSICS AT THE CASTLE - SHERBORNE CASTLE SUNDAY 19TH JULY 10:00 - 4:00

This is a big event - many types of cars from classics to hot-rods, Supercars to vintage racers.  This year will be its 12th year and it is a spectacular location.  1h 22m from the centre of Bristol but basically straight down the A37 for 43 miles - close to Yeovil.  An utterly beautiful location!  Free entry for exhibitors.

Lady friendly day out!  If you like it we will get it arranged!
