Title: 2014 F1 Technology
Post by: Quarrycars on 30, July, 2014, 07:41:16 AM
I'm sure many of you have seen this but it is a good description of the current F1 powertrain technology and turbocharging in general:

The power recovery turbine is interesting, taken to it's limits the engine becomes the combustion chamber for the turbine and we are back to the F1 and Indy turbine cars of the '70s.  Interestingly one of the criticisms of those cars was that they were too quiet!

Very interesting

180 BHP extra from a motor - deep in thought  ::)

OK where do I get one of these motors from ?

I want one , Oh yes got to have one, just push the button and watch me disappear  into the sunset

wow if I had 2 of these motors (360BHP)I could get rid of the main engine, now that would save some weight- add a few solar panels and presto I have just reinvented the electric car

can always dream I suppose  :-*
