Saw that. One thing to watch out for if you were lucky enough to be buying a car in 2017 with a list price just under £40k - don't buy any optional extras! they include any options you specify in the list price for VED so if the car was £39,900 and you bought a stereo upgrade for £101 it would cost you another £1500 in tax over the next 5 years!!!

I think I got that but the government doesn't believe ins simple does it. 

It does remind me of the way everybody was encouraged to put solar panels on their roof than just as they did it was far less attractive just after they had parted with their money.
