Title: Lost for something to say?
Post by: Iancider on 30, November, 2014, 08:29:10 PM
If you want to impress....

Tell people you know what Hydroxymethylpentylcyclohexenecarboxaldehyde is.  ???

It's an artificial essence!  And yes, Walnut has been smoking this!  :o

It may take a while to master the word but it will impress.   8)

It also comes in a weaponised form.  If you are surrounded by sniffy people, you can just point at their glass and say -

"Do you know that contains Hydroxymethylpentylcyclohexenecarboxaldehyde - are you worried by that?" and walk away.  :D

Indeed, having analysed its structure I'd guess it probably has a soft delicate, floral, lily, cyclamen, lilac note reminiscent of hydroxycitronellal.

More importantly though, imagine the points you'd get in scrabble :D

Funnily enough I was reading about that stuff just the other day. More commonly known as Lyral (amongst many other trade names). Apparently even though it has been found to generate an allergic reaction in 89% of all people tested there is no restriction on its use and it is present as a fragrance in almost all proprietary soaps, shampoos etc, including many that claim to be suitable for sensitive skin. Continued frequent use is almost certian to develop sensitisation in most people after which a full on allergic reaction is very likely.

Slightly scary!

Quoteincluding many that claim to be suitable for sensitive skin.

Yep that's right they are for sensitive skin - if not sensitive before it will be afterwards!
