We are expecting our first child next month and trying to persuade my other half how child friendly the cobra is

Don't think I won  ;)

Oh dear! Is that the sound of a vauxhall meriva on it's way? ;D ;D

danwilko

Luckily she knew how car crazy I was when we met

I thought lotus cortina mk2 or escort mk1 more family friendly  :D

Dazzer always took his little son out with a baby seat in his westfield & his son always loved it.  8)

I do think Dave may be right though, I people carrier by be on the cards.  :(   :)

I used my Cob to get out of the house.  Maybe a bit selfish but my Cob has always been my escape.  Never thought about a baby seat, but occasionally when Nan and Granddad were about we used to bugger off for a few hrs.

Most 2 x seaters are a indulgence car, so indulge yourself now and then.   Cant always be a father or hubby, some times you just need to be you and drive the Cob.

If money isn't a issue, keep it for yourself until they are old enough to enjoy it.  My Hannah often comes out with me and meets all the guys in the club.  She has been coming out with me since she was 8 yrs old, and loves it.

That said, I am considering selling my Dax to buy a TVR.

:o Didn't think TVR's were that reliable?

Iancider

The only thing that you can rely on with a TVR is the unreliability. ;D

Dan,

I would keep the Cobra for perfectly good baby reasons.

You will note very soon their propensity for a touch of the "night screamers" - a need to scream at length for no apparent reason on the basis that "they have started so they will finish".

There are few antidotes:
(a) a sudden blast of cold air is refreshing and they generally pause or stop
(b) showing them the night sky and the twinlkle of stars is fascinating to them
(c) a drive in the car usually works a treat - especially if they are pretty noisy.

If any have just a marginal effect - just add them all together in an open topped car at night and you have a perfect baby soother.

After a short while you will find harmony with your trainee petrolhead who will scream only until you are forced to go for a ride together in the car.  Dad bonds with baby, Baby bonds with Dad, both bond with Car and Mum gains some beauty sleep. Perfecto!

Convinced?  (Father of three talking from experience)

Having the baby seat will work a treat! Think of it a s child education. The noisier they get, the more you put your foot down, the quiter they get, the more you lift off. Call it shock therapy :D Your bambino will soon learn that not screaming all the time will mean a more comfortable experience :) :)

Note: for all the PC people out there, I am only kidding ;) :D

I'm with Bri on this one John.  :D

Some of my best days out were with the little one in the passenger seat of my Westfield, keep the car!!!! My reasons for buying originally were so that I could take him out and have some "boys time".  :D

It transpired that we then went to all the car meets, drive outs and he became a real petrol head while the wife had some time back for herself, but now he still hasn't forgiven me for selling it!!!  :(

Moleman

Sorry to hear about your boy not being happy Dazzer.  If you still got the seat I will take him for a little spin for you mate.  :)
You are still welcome to go to stoneleigh with me if you still want to go by the way?  :)

Guess you might just have to buy something else to keep him happy (and yourself ;))

Thanks for all the interesting fartherly comments

But just to let u know, I've not been made to get rid of it, just trying to persuade other half that a 1 month old baby in the car seat would love it in a cobra, but as I don't have inertia seat belts it wouldn't be 'safe' got to wait till booster seat age  8)

Bulldog Bri

A good ratchet strap around the seat will hold a baby seat in ;)
