I need a Mk 2 Escort short stem quick rack or conversion kit.  Has anybody got a spare they want to sell.  I am looking for 2.4 or 2.2 ratio.

Regards
Ian

Hi Ian,

I have a Mk2 Escort quick rack in the loft.  I think it's a 2.4.  I'll dig it out and check.

Rob,

That would be good - thanks

QuoteWhats wrong with your current rack?

Smiled at that one - last time I heard that there was a busty lady involved  ;D

But being serious:  It is on my Crash Test Dummy's Westy and he has a 2.9 turn rack on 185 tyres and it is silly light and too many turns.  Also the inner ball joint has a little play on one side and I am looking to sorting this all out during the winter.  He wants to go up to 205 tyres and with a bit of extra camber we are hoping to sharpen its handling up for Llandow in May.

Should have watched my wording!! :o

I was looking at a quick rack upgrade as well but i suppose i really should just get it all running first!

Impressive! Has anyone got a MGTF (2002 on) left hand drive steering rack in their loft/shed/wherever?

During the build of a Marlin 5exi I inherited a rack that didn't fit and bought a metro one that also didn't ....

If you want to trek out to Sherston I'lle dig them out. You can have them FOC as I can't remember which is which so can't ebay them.

Great, thanks. I'll definitely pop over to Sherston some time. No rush digging them out. Let me know when would be convenient.

Finally had a look at it last night.  Looks like a 2.2 turn lock to lock.

Excuse my ignorance, but for a left hand drive rack, couldn't a right hand drive one just be flipped over ::) all it would mean is that the input steering shaft would flip from the top to the bottom (or bottom to the top) of the rack, compared to how it was to start with ::) ;D

I think thats the issue - on the GTM they used a LHD rack flipped over so that the shaft input is on the side they needed it to be (can't remeber whether its the top or the bottom). The rack is u-bolted direct to the tub. If you use a RHD one the input spline won't line up with the hole in tub!

Muchos Betteros!  2.2's are pretty rare.  Pop me a PM and name you price - I'm up for that one!

Thanks
