Title: Diff rebuild
Post by: Richard on 17, June, 2009, 01:54:11 PM
Just wondering if anyone had ever rebuilt their own and how hard it might be ?

Was thing if I picked up a "cheap" suitable LSD is it feasable to do a rebuild yourself as I think it ought to be a whole load simpler than a gearbox !

Might save a few pounds to spend on something else  ;)

Mine needs a rebuild, but it is def going to an expert, I think the tolerences are such that if its rebuilt too tight it will fail and if its too loose it will clunk. Not too mention all the associated whines and rumbles if its not done right.

A LSD is more complicated too.

It might be worth a try as long as you dont mind having a few goes to get it right. Your diff might be in and out like a fiddlers elbow  ;D.

I may stand to be corrected mind you, and if it is easy, I'll have a go at mine.

Maybe you can pick up a good one that dosent need a rebuild?
