Title: Electronic ignition for older cars
Post by: Brandy Barrel on 13, June, 2015, 08:24:57 AM
I used to run a unit by micro dynamics called 'formula one' which I bought a loooooong time ago but it first went on my mk1 1300 then 1600 xflow then RS2 then MG Metro.
It would put out 50kv and never failed me, it would run a car with twice the plug gap and not sound or perform any different.
I can't find anything similar, I guess there is no market left with Modern ECUs.
Does anyone else use an electronic ignition which doesn't cost the earth?
May have to make my own!

What about the accuspark units that fit inside the dizzy cap - I've got one on my cross flow and it's been excellent.

I saw the accuspark.
It appeared to be the only one around.
My microsynamic kept evrything just used the old rotor arm and points for timing purposes
There were always issues about the hysteresis caused by removing the component which removes backlash, namely points removal.
Doea accuspark keep the points?

I've got the Accuspark set in my dizzy and don't have any problems now.
