Can anyone recomend a good garage for mapping engine's & Rolling road for me as I will be need this service within the next few weeks with any luck.
There is one in Thornbury that I'm looking at but I'm getting mixed reveiws from it.
Distance is not important I rather go further afield & get a better job than risk a crap job.
Any suggestions will be most welcome.
Thanks Colin.

Colin - Dave Griffiths at Interpro in Thornbury is excellent - he runs the rolling road.  The co-owner is the challenge but he runs the workshop.  Dave looked after my cars for 5 years.  I was always very impressed with Dave (skill and demeanour).  All round good guy

The 3 to choose locally are: -

Interpro, Thornbury
Circuit Motors, Castle Combe
M Tech Automotive, Westbury, Wiltshire

Probably best to speak to all 3, check the reviews, word of mouth etc. and decide which one you are happiest with.

Grin-a-lot

I've used circuit motors and they're good but I get the impression he's a carb specialist.

I had a "less than ideal" experience at M-Tech and won't be going back there.

A friend told me there's a new rolling road in Yate but I don't know anything else about it!

Had my Fiat Coupe 20VT done at Circuit Motors by a guy called Flea. Very happy with the result.

A bit up north for you Colin but I used Mech Motorsport in Cheltenham, he does a lot of work for Omex.  I was really pleased with what he did for me and he is known for genuine results not ones to flatter the punters.  If you are using an unusual ECU, mine is Megajolt, he prefers you to bring your own laptop that is known to talk to the ECU.  Let me know if you want contact details.

Thanks for the heads up guys. I will ring them all & see which one sounds ok. Not quite ready for them yet, just planning ahead.  :D

Not used them personally (yet anyway) but I know a few people who have used Mech over the years and have been very impressed

Yes, I've taken the Westfield to Mech Motorsport and Dave did a great job.

Sprint 7

Hi Colin, there is a rolling road next to Infinity Exhausts at Codrington Spring, just down the road from the Tormarton M4 junction.Ie the road from Westerleigh to the A46.Don't know anything about the setup or what they actually do there but have heard engines revving like hell when having my exhaust fitted. ;D ;D

Many Thanks. I will add this one to my list of guys I will try.  :)

I use Interpro regularly for various work. Dave did my track Westfield and he was superb. He does not rush things and does not give bullshit results to please you.

One of the problems with rolling roads is how you present the car. Do a good installation and the process is straight foreward. Where the problems come and in truth some of the mixed reviews, is where cars are presented having had a load of bits bolted together, badly or with a promise from the supplier of said parts that this will produce X bhp. When it does not is is the rolling road operators fault. Read any of Dave Walkers articles in PPC magazine and you will see what I mean.

I had two other Westfields done at Mech repairs in Cheltenham and although they were okay for SVA but left a lot to be desired in other areas, which I did not understand at the time.

The choice of ECU also makes a differance Mech repairs from memeory like Omex and Dta over the MBE systems I have.

I have no connection with Interpro other than a happy customer of several years and as a qualified Mechanic from the past I think I know quality when it is offered.

Thanks for that Jeff. I'm currently waiting on a ECU unit & loom from the company that built the engine.
I don't know what system it will be, I just know it's the system they use to set the engine up.  :D

Raspberry Pi?  :P :D

Moleman

It's on it's way!
I should have the loom & E.C.U. tomorrow.  :o ;D ;D ;D ;D
It is a Pectel SQ6 series 4. Which is used on cosworth racing engines. It was sourced by the guy who built the engine.  :)
The bad news is I have rang the guys you have recommended to do the rolling road & so far I have been told that they haven't done one of these before but as it's just got to be checked out since it's coming already mapped they SHOULD be able to do it without any problems.  ???

Unfortunately should is not something I want to risk.  ::) So I rang the guy who built the engine & he knows some people by him which is good, the only bumber is it a 5hr round trip.  :-[ :)

It will be worth it in the end I guess?  :D

Hi Colin I dont blame you for not  trusting a 'should be able to do it' after all your hard work.
And like you say it will definitely be worth it in the end which should not be too long  :) :) :)
