Duratec Thermostat

For Colin....

In the past I had some problems with the engine temperature of the Duratec in the Westy.  This is down the the Mondeo having a ECU controlled thermostat.

Here is a picture of a thermostat removed from a Mondeo.  This one is knackered.  You can see that one of the plastic arms had snapped off causing it to stay in only one position.

Here is a photo on the thermostat originally in my westfield.  Noticed all the workings have been removed.  This worked fine but caused the engine to take ages to warm up.

Here is a photo of the replacement unit next to it (New on left, old on right).

The replacement is a traditional mechanical unit.  Notice no electrical plug on this one.  Once I fitted it, the difference was clear.  The engine warmed up really quickly and now maintains a steady temperature even when I going for it on track.  I believe these are from the Mazda range.

Hope this helps, Colin.
