Bike engined car transmission clunk

Ok heres one for starters, I have a Fireblade BEC that has developed a nasty clunk from the transmission. I am expecting worn conponents to be found on an inspection, but what are the most common things that can cause clunks when changing gear?

Well it looks like it is a worn adaptor flange that connects the prop to the engine output shaft.

It can't have done that many miles, surely? That should be a pretty solid piece, as you wouldn't want it to come adrift!!

Possibly the prop wasn't torqued up properly to it or something? if that's what it is, it should be an easy fix tho :)

suprised that had worn, must of been loose...

you will nearly always get a clonk with gear change with a manual shift..

using my electric shift with clutchless upshift the clunk disappears..

i think a TRT prop ( torque resilient tube ) is suppose to help...

least you'll be back on the road sooner 8)

The car was an ex demo and had everyman and his dog thrasing it round tracks. It has done a few road miles too, but I agree a bit premature.

Do you have a unit that cuts ignition on upshifts? and do you have a TRT prop?

I did expect a fair amount of clunking but this was bad. Apparently the prop and joints are good, but it is a solid prop. Also the diff is solid to the chassis with no damping bushes.

I dont really like the noise, but as long as I know everything is tight and safe then it's ok with me.

I am guessing too that the flange must have come loose otherwise why would it wear.

don't have a TRT prop just heard it helps the situation....

when do you have the car back to give it a go :)

Hope to get it back early next week.  ;D

I am interested in getting one of those clutchless shifters, what do you have and was it expensive?

How hard was it to wire, and does it blip the throttle on downshifts?

with some custom paddles on the steering wheel..
very very easy to wire in as well.

yeah do get some clunk driving slowly,hardly noticeable though
