Defective GAZ Damper

Hi all,

Last week I discovered that one onf my new GAZ coilovers was leaking. The car is not finished yet and the only work the dampers have had is me jumping up and down on the chassis to check clearances etc.

I removed the offending article and once I removed the coil discovered that the piston was badly corroded about 1/2-way along

I assume this had wrecked the seal and then the internals because when working the piston through the full range it had zero damping and made a horrible graunching noise when nearing the bottom of it's travel!

I contacted Dampertech who I bought them from and got a very quick reply telling me to sendt the duff one back for inspection. 2 days later they despatched a new unit no-questions asked

So fair play to Dampertech but I hope I don't have any issues with the other 3, as after somoe research it seems they are not the best known for reliability

We will see.
