Subject to adverse weather conditions, we ( my wife and I) will be going to the Classic Car Meet at The Fleet Air Arm Museum at RNAS Yeovilton, which will be for our fifth time. There are usually between 100 - 150 cars ( and bleary eyed crews ).
Kit cars are welcome ( but not modern saloons - Tin Tops ).
The event is from 10.00 to 2.00 (£2 per car) and the cafe there will be open for hot drinks and food .  There is also an optional 30 mile road run (£5) through the lanes and villages.  If anyone is interested in going from our direction - A37, Let us know and I'll suggets a pick up point enroute.

Casino

We shall be starting off the day, nay, New Year with a breakfast at the Farrington Gurney Little Chef  A37/A39 (BS39 6TQ) before setting off at 9:50 down the A37 to the Classic Car Meet. This Little Chef, which opens at 9:00am, will be serving anything from scrambled egg and smoked salmon to a full english, that can be washed down with a mug of coffee or tea.
We would be pleased if you can join us at breakfast and/or the 25 mile run down the A37 to the Meet. We expect to be on the A37 near Shepton Mallet (A361,A371 intersections) about 10:00am.
Cheers Casino

WALNUT

'The Gaffer'

Its a great idea, but I doubt if I'll be getting into bed much before 9am :)

Casino

Thought I'd give this a "bump". It got burried a bit.

Final decision on this will be weather dependent and will be posted by mid-afternoon on New Year's Eve ( Friday 31st December ).

I was going to pick up Dixie and we were planning to meet up but it depends if I can get the Hood back together by then.

I took out the dash to make some changes and recover it and have yet to finish the project.   It's so cold in the garage I find it hard to get the motivation going.

Hi Tony,
It'll be great to meet up with you  and Dixie  if you can make it.
Pedro in his great Vincent has been for the last two years.
I might have persuaded a couple of classic owners to join us for breckies and the run down together ( Aston Martin and a Jensen ).
But it will be the weather that will have the last word.
Keep an eye out for posting  mid-afternoon on New Year's Eve.
Have a great Christmas,   Casino

Message for Mark & Tony,
Can you PM me with your pick up location on the A37 ? - Thanks.

Dixie

Unless Tony has other plans, I suggest we meet at the Charlton Inn Traffic lights in Shepton Mallet.  Opposite the big chip shop ( Whitstones).

Easy to find, come into Shepton, past the old Babycham factory upto the 1st set of lights.  The pub is on the left at these lights.

Not sure of time, perhaps you could let us know?

Mark

I couldn't risk adding dialog to the pics as three times I had put both pics and words together only to loose the lot when clicking onto the "preview" tab.

New Years Meet.

With a friend in tow, we collected Paintman and Dixie enroute for the 25 mile run down he A37 to the Meet venue at RNAS Station Museum at Yeovilton. There were just 50 cars there when we arrived but this grew steadily to about 140 within the hour. I don't know if Pedro Pete attended, for we didn't see him.
Unfortunately the Main Restaurant was closed for refurbishment so we were allowed to use the smaller restaurant within the museum. We were able to have a good look around the museum without having to pay! We left Paintman and Dixie to there oun devices and took part in the 30 mile Tour arond local lanes and villages. We were the first car to start and we thought that we were the only ones taking part as we poolded round the route and it was not until we had only 5 miles to go back to the finish did a convoy of cars catch us up. I enjoyed those last 5 miles. I've copied an extract of dialog written on his club website by the driver of the car imediately behind me.
"We blatted around the lanes of South Somerset in the company of a sumlime AM Vantage and a horribly quick Royale"
I do hope that Tony and Mark enjoyed the day.

Daley Down Under

Good pics and words - no such thing as 'horribly quick'

paintman

Me and Mark were going to join the convoy but I could see us getting bored......booting past the lot and getting banned from further events.........but it would have been a laugh and very tempting! :P
