Yup takes a bit of getting used to, but the motorway drive from plymouth was fun be it a bit windy (lose of breath going to fast i think) and picking the flys out of my teeth because i had a big ass grin on my face for 110 miles 

It need some body work done and some alterations but over all i am very pleased with it esp at the price i paid.

Car now running very rich, black plugs. Will rev if starts but no way will tick over. Think floats are not cutting off as can see fuel down the inlets with only the fuel pump running.

Always the Pegasus meet tommorow eve if I can get to the bottom of the problem.

A couple of things to try to fix flooding carbs; disconnect or pull the fuse for the fuel pump the run the engine until it runs out of gas then reconnect the pump.  The rush of fuel will often dislodge the bit of debris that is stopping the neelle valve seating.  If you don't have a fuel pressure regulator you may need one, carbs should have only 2-3 PSI some electric pumps will produce 8 PSI!

Thaks JT did exactly what you said and it ran fine. Went for a 20 mile run with no problems That has probably saved me a load of agro - Thanks!!

The car has never had a pressure regulator and the pump looks pretty big, maybe its got one in it already. Only way to tell I guess is to put a gauge on it.

Thanks Pete, may take you up on that. First I need to I.D the pump.

Nick may well be having the same problem. Through research bike carbs will only tolerate about 3 - 3.5 PSI, most run of the mill fuel pumps kick out about 8 PSI. The floats just cant hold that back and you get a over fueling problem.

With the bike engine, ideally the original pump should be used as they are normally self regulating. A good alternative is a good used ZX9 pump. Mine is behaving itself perfectly now so I think it was just a bit of gunk in the fuel line.
