Facial Hair Optional

I plan to do a run as soon as weather permits just to have a look-see on this route.....

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/dir/51.457882,-2.3794046/51.40261,-2.3098338/The+Northey+Arms,+Bath+Road,+Corsham/Biddestone/Castle+Combe+Circuit,+Castle+Combe/Cross+Hands+Hotel,+Old+Sodbury/51.4577624,-2.3795129/@51.4646646,-2.3671622,12z/data=!4m34!4m33!1m5!3m4!1m2!1d-2.3318096!2d51.4007604!3s0x4871818f7c496775:0xf6e907e48fb361ca!1m0!1m5!1m1!1s0x4871796033024a89:0xecd2cbc5e11c3118!2m2!1d-2.2673442!2d51.4162305!1m5!1m1!1s0x48717a2f35fb89bf:0x7af4a188c9a8b64!2m2!1d-2.194276!2d51.45923!1m5!1m1!1s0x487179fc19542e41:0xfdd9ccaedb930702!2m2!1d-2.2178501!2d51.4935115!1m5!1m1!1s0x48718fbda43c1f75:0x46a987f50a0671f6!2m2!1d-2.342851!2d51.529296!1m0!

It takes in the Cross Hands, Tog Hill, the Northey Arms, Biddestone (Arms), Castle Combe and back to the Cross Hands again. All on good roads I think.

It'll be a nice little run out of about an hour just to give the Tiger a bit of fun. If anyone else wants to tag along please feel free to join in and/or suggest other points nearby or along the way  :)

Last Christmas I went out on Christmas Day, it was ace!!! Totally dead, I had all the nice quiet DRY roads all to myself near enough!!! I have never been down one main road (that I will not mention) as fast!!

If Christmas Day or Boxing Day are dry this year I will probably be out for a blast again (within the legal limits  ;D)

It was on those roads around Biddlestone that I came a cropper last spring.....watch out for 90 degree bends!! ::) :-[

I would be interested in this providing I get the chance to replace a broken throttle cable.

You too? I've had to do that 3 times on the Tiger in 18 months. Hopefully this time it'll last cos I used a formula ford cable, though it looked only marginally thicker than the old one. Maybe it's better wire?

I've been told to try Speedy Cables. Where do you get formula ford and what is it?

Could always bi-pass Biddestone and go via Allington where we had that meet last summer at Allington Farm (nice farm shop food etc on sale there)....

Or even go the route Dave benchmark51 and I took after our karting exploration trip earlier this year. We came back to Combe via Hullavington, Grittleton and the Salutation pub junction. The good thing about that route is you get to go UNDER the M4!! Great tunnel noise fun to be had!  :o .....

I got mine on ebay Phil. I was only replacing the inner wire at the time but have subsequently replaced the outer sleeve as well. I always carry a spare inner wire now though after it snapping twice!!

That does sound enticing especially because the weather is going to be so mild but I wont have a car - oops!

Winter rebuild underway.

I definitely won't be able to do Christmas or boxing day mate.  :)

I suspect most people will be in the same boat mate. If the weather is dry I will have a little trundle about, even if only local, I want to make it kind of a tradition for me, a bit like seeing the fox hounds on Boxing Day used to be! Just have to hope for a dry day.

I wanted to go out today but the Tiger would not start. I tried to find my jump leads but couldn't. I tore my garage apart, then my shed, then under my stairs, no joy. Then I had a heart attack and a stroke all at once!

I worked out later where they must be and sure enough half an hour ago I found them all neat and organised on the wall in the same actual flippin garage where the Tiger is stored!!!! ARRRGGGHHH!!!! To add insult to injury I tried the car again and it bloody started on the 2nd turn of the key! I didnt know whether to laugh or cry. The one dry day we have had in ages wasted!!

I walked home and consoled myself with the tale that it must be fate and the Tiger had in fact saved my life cos if I had gone out today I'd have had a head on with an artic and been squashed deader that a dead thing!! Obviously it was not meant to be  :(

There's always tomorrow!!  :D

At least my garage is now tidier and has more free space in it!

Me and Dixie are having a blast across the Mendips ending up in Cheddar for a late breakfast, then up to Priddy for a pint!

If this is more local to you or you fancy meeting up PM me this evening....up till 1.30am!!

These are indeed dark thoughts my humble lost one!

Knoweth this! If thou tryeth the magic mushrooms thou must stay with them - desisteth not!

For the Downside is the Dark side

Hadst thou stayest sated fullwith the Magic of said Mushrooms...

Then tis certain thou wouldst have been sure to ffind

The Leads of the Magic Art for Jumping,

Useth thine enhancedd   Allseeing Powers -

Thou willst seeeth every thing thou wishes

Without delay!

But!

Such Leads of the Magic Art of Jumping would have turneth into a VISCIOUS VIPER in your hand

And would have biteth thee

In the Gonads three!

Ian - you are truly mental.

The last mushrooms I had were at the BKCC Xmas meal, very yummy but no special effects as far as I can tell.

Thanks for the offer Tony but I am totally the other side of Bristol and already have made plans for tomorrow morning. Sadly not as exciting as yours!

Might be interested in this. I could meet you at Castle Combe. Group round to Gorse Ln and cut back on the 420 back to Chippenham. Not on Xmas day though as I will be to busy with family, sorry.

Can't see it being Xmas Day now mate, the forecast is bloody awful atm. Maybe as soon as I can see the weather being decent I will post it as a definite date and see who is interested in tagging along?

It's a nice little route, not too far or too long timewise and has some interesting points en route ie Castle Combe! Bound to be something going on there. When benchmark and me went they had a single seater day on the go, very interesting it was too.

Chaz

Weather permitting I'd like to give it a go. Was out in the Tiger yesterday. Started out great then a monsoon from nowhere. Bummer. I'm from Royal Wootton Bassett so not too far away.....and I've got a furry hat.  ;D

Hi Chaz, fellow Tiger owner! I'll update this thread as and when it happens. It is all weather and time dependent atm what with it being Christmas etc and the weather ain't playing ball atm!!

I will check the weather later today Gary and if it is dry tomorrow I am up for a little drive even if it is not the route that started this thread. I'd quite like to see what is happening at Combe maybe though.
