Title: Moleman track day Part 1
Post by: Moleman on 12, December, 2015, 05:59:22 PM
Due to the overwhelming success last year I have pre booked 3 dates next year for Castle Combe.  8) 8)

The first date will be Monday 25th April

I don't have a lot of details to give you yet apart from we will be running a open pit for 30 cars this year instead of 25 & once I get conformation on the cost this should bring the price down to about £160/ £170 per car including 2 drivers. (instead of £200 from last year) And a passenger pass for the day will be £10 per person which will all go direct to the Go Inspire Now charity.

As before it will be opened to all members & also anyone who has friends that would like to have a go. It won't be just for kit cars as I have friends with normal saloon track cars which makes it a good mix for the day. You will how ever have to vouch for any recommended friends like last time so we keep this a friendly fun filled day.

We will be taking the full amount if you want to book this a bit closer to the time & like last time we hope to get a reserve list once we are fully booked so if you do have to pull out we will give you a full refund if we can get someone to replace you.

So please put this date in your dairy as you won't regret it. whether you are a first time track virgin or do them all the time all will be welcome.  8)

Also on this day Dino Zamparrelli is hoping to bring his last years cars for pleasure rides if your up for it but this is not confirmed yet so stay tuned on this one.
Also if anyone doesn't want to take their car around we are looking into bringing a Mazda MX5 for people to have a go but again details to be confirmed.

It is now booked!!! 8) 8) 8)

It will be an open pit lane track day for 30 cars at castle combe circuit on Monday 25th april. Cost per car and two drivers is £170. extra drivers are £20 and £10 per passenger (passenger money collected will be going to Go Inspire Now charity)
Payment for April is required in full on a first come basis so get your payments in quick people.  8)

I will do a reserve list once we have all 30 cars so like last time if you have to pull out then we will try to get someone to replace you so you get a full refund. If we can't replace you though then I'm afraid you will lose your payment.

I do have other track day friends in saloon cars booking this as well so if you also have friends you can vouch for that would like to enter please let me know

Please contact me for payment details as soon as you can so you don't miss out.  8)

Right all paid up, so am ready to go!!!

This will be my first track day so here is the first question, I currently have Toyo R888 tyres on that are well worn, the MOT is due in March and I may just get through with a favourable wind, But as I was a good boy last year father xmas has just delivered some nice new R888R tyres. So do I change them before the track day or do I leave the old ones on. What will give me the best grip?

Wow these dates are getting booked up pretty quickly, can I put my name down or maybe for reserve just in case my car isn't back together

Wet or dry the new tyres will be better.

If it is dry you'll get more wear.  If your old tyres are marginal now, then they won't be road legal after a day at Combe.  If you have a spare set of wheels to get you home (or a trailer), you could just use the old ones and give them a good send off!

You'll be surprised how good a new set of R888s are in the wet.

I'm really tempted but I'll keep my powder dry until the car is back together and I see how its going. When the list gets into the mid twenties I might just pounce anyway!

I have a set of Avon ZZRs on the Zenos and they are scary in the wet :o :o

I remember a set of Avons on a Viva gt 2.3 a lot of years ago. If it rained , you didn't drive the car at all. It was like a permanent skin pan. Gave them to a bloke who grew spuds in them!

And bear in mind your new tyres are the R888R's which are supposed to be an improvenment on the old R888's. That extra 'R' on the end makes all the difference but adds to the confusion - why didn't they just come up with a new name!!!!  ???

Just found out that the Ultima project will not be finished in time for the trackday :'( There is a few problems on getting parts).  The good news is that we should get 60+ bhp!, not that we needed it, which would give it 700+bhp.

If I still have it I will come in the Zenos.

I put it up on Southern Kit Car Club but no takers   :(

It was close but Monday was a problem for the few that showed interest.

Please add Crash Test Dummy to the list - I'll send the funds.

My man in the Elise (Paul N) has not been able to find trackday insurance at a price he can afford and doesn't want to prang his lovely Elise without but he will take a drive in the Go!Inspire Alpha and will probably be up for some passenger rides too.  I also have another taker for passenger rides and that is James F - he might be up for driving Alpha too.

For those of you who haven't got a clue what I am talking about when I say Alpha... Alpha is a fund-raiser car for Go! Inspire - it will be a lightly tuned MX5 with pucker suspension and a roll-bar.  We will be hiring it out in 8 lap sessions throughout the day.  So if you have friends that would like to come along for passenger rides and make a bung to charity or even hire Alpha for a session then leap right in.

We have quite a challenge getting alpha ready in time but we think we will get there!

Col,
I was talking to a guy in Trowbridge who has a Maserati and he would be interested on a half day. What's the chance/complications?

Touching wood - As the GTM seems to be working now I'll take the plunge and book my place on the April Castle Combe day.

Please add me to the list Colin and I'll transfer the payment this week.

It was kind of put up as an invitation for a response - I wondered (briefly) who would give in first :P

No probs Dave as soon as I get payment I will get you on the list, but don't leave it too long.  :)

I'm surprised that a curtain someone who has just moved next to Castle Combe hasn't put their name down yet?  ;)

Hi Colin,

I'd like that last space if possible.

I'd be driving my Z4 if that's ok, it's what I got recently after I had to sell the Westfield.

Cheers Tony

Thanks mate, I'm doing a bit better on my meds, so have a month or two before chemo, so am trying to do as much as possible. Hence the Z4 that I bought from a bloke in Clifton earlier this week. Pity it's not a kit car of some kind but the best I can manage for now :)

Hi guys
Not long now till the track day. A little reminder that sign on and noise testing is from 8am. Safety brief is at 8:30am in the tavern. Sighting laps start at 9. Then open pit lane all day.
Stopping for lunch for an hour from 12
The tavern is open all day for hot food and drinks.
Don't forget your helmets but they are available for hire on the day.
Arms and legs must be covered whilst on track.
Looking forward to having a good day
See you all there
