Great to see so many of you at Combe today (Pete, Tony, Peter, Colin, Phil and DavidH).  Weather was kind to us and track dried nicely during the morning with lots of full-on laps either side of lunch.

Fantastic to see Dave's new car going so well first time out.

Catch up soon,
Adrian

'The Gaffer'

Had a fanastic afternoon at Combe, thanks for the ride Adrian - you and Dave H are quick!!!

Had a look at that video yet? ;)

Daley Down Under

Phil,

You're very welcome.  Look forward to seeing the Riot out there.

Not looked at the video yet - but we know it wont be 1:14  ;D

Hairy Santa

A good day - here are a couple of shots

David H

Fantastic day. Really chuffed with car. I'm off to bed now but will put a vid on soon. It was great to see so many people I knew out today!

David H

Wicked to be back on track.  :D

Just have to dial out a little understeer, fiddle with dampers and she's on the right road. Thanks again to this club and its members. ;D

Daley Down Under

Car's looking really well balanced in the photo.  Good loading up of the NSR - think what it would like on slicks ...

How was the curry?

David H

Excellent. My breath stank all day but it was worth it

'The Gaffer'

Nice pic Dave, car looked really good :)

peetee

Hey Dave, new car looking good. I've got a few jobs to do on the mac1 over the winter then I'll be out next spring. Congrats on the wedding btw.
Bruv - how did you go in the afternoon? Lap times? Videos?

David H

He was quick as usual.

Thanks for the congrats, it was a good day. Good luck over the winter, is she ready for the track yet?

peetee

Not yet. List of winter jobs is......Billet sump, quick rack, uprated clutch, full dyno and probably exhaust? Then we'll be good to go! Will also look at a full suspension set up with Bruv in the spring, and a decent set of R888's too? Don't want to be too much slower than him  :)

Daley Down Under

Bruv,

Car did feel much better but still only 1:16.  Vids to follow.  Not sure what to do next - perhaps driving lessons?

Daley Down Under

Dave,

I like the new avatar.  I'll have to load up my Combe one.

peetee

'only' 1:16??? Quick. Summer and slicks would = 1:12-1:14?

I want a combe avatar! Mine seems so boring......

'The Gaffer'

Daley Down Under

Still only the same as the Megablade on slicks though

Adrian, how about a slight driving position change and one of these outfits ;D

Daley Down Under

If it'll do 1:10s round Combe I'll take one

'The Gaffer'

Haha, yes I can just see you in one of those in the pits :D

Ever thought about a Nitrous oxide kit? Only for short bursts you understand  ;)

Me too. Can I have one in blue please.

Its strange how a car can feel better but not be any quicker.. or even the other way round. I was looking at a couple of vids in my other westy and comparing Mondays to them and there are 1min 16s laps in both cars. Yet they are so different and feel so different in many respects. I will post a couple soon.

Adrian, have you checked your Vid's timing as Phil's stopwatch on mobile phone technique may possibly not be quite so accurate?? No offence Phil mate! You may well be into the 1min 15s.

Who mentioned Nitrous?

A weekend's work then!

What's it going to be like with two of you on the track at the same time?!!?

None taken mate ;) I dont really think anybody's phone timer should be taken as gospal. I did time you at a 1.16.25 but how accurate could that possiby be. Was that app you helped design any good for this?

Daley Down Under

Here's a couple of vids from Monday.  Phil's timing was spot on - a 1.16.0 lap.  Second one is me following David H in his new blue Westie.

Great stuff, proper quick driving chaps

Hairy Santa

That is certainly right on the edge driving - hope I can do you boys justice when I get out there  - but somehow I doubt it

Might join you all on the 8th, depends on the new car arriving in time, and checking it over

still a brill video

Nice vids. I turned the volume right up to listen to them. That engine makes a lovely noise!

Couldent agree more :)

See you there then Pete :)

robp

Wow, 1:16 with traffic.  Very impressive.  :D

David H

I've now finally managed to work out how to get these vids onto the forum. Pretty clever stuff Phil!

This is one of the sessions I didn't know I was recording. In fact I must have the buttons mixed up as I recorded so much of nothing that day. With a little editing, the 30 min vid is reduced to a watchable size but watch out for the shoddy sound. I must take the mic out of the rear boot area and find a furry animal to stick on it. I do like the sound of the whining gears though. I think the wind is still penetrating the sponges I wrapped around the little mic.

Does anyone work for the BBC and could they steal me a furry animal?

Anyway, looks like there's a 1 min 16.35 sec in there which I'm pleased with especially as it was the car's first outing. (phil has got the timing thing wrapped up as he said it was 1min 16.25s)

yahooooooo

'The Gaffer'

Excellent vid Dave, car looked very stable, even near 140mph it didnt even flinch.

Like your drifting too  ;D

peetee

Good stuff Dave, car looks great. Bruv - what happened at 4:28????!!

Daley Down Under

I had a passenger on-board and she'd had enough

peetee

seemed funny how you suddenly slowed up........

If I was sitting there and had never sat in a car going that quickly round a track before.... I would probably want to get out too!
