Is anyone up for a trackday at castle Combe 13th september?

It will be £150, open pit & about 30 cars. A friend of mine has booked the curcuit for a private trackday but has had a few people pull out.
Plenty of tracktime & good value for combe.

If you do please don't hang about & let me know very soon.
thanks Colin.

Lucky Ed

Even though the date is a bit ominous I think I'm up for this one. It will give me a chance to shake down the new engine close to home, just in case all is not well.

Colin - have you got your car fully sorted now?, you must be getting close.

I'll PM you my number 8)

Yes, I do, but not available on that date unfortunately.  :(

Moleman

That's a shame rob. :(  If you change your mind I promise not to have a passenger ride from you so it don't stop out on the curcuit again!  :P :D

Moleman

Anyone else up for a trackday next friday then? :D
Lots of tracktime, open pit, 30 cars, £150 bargain! ;D

fullpint

If Iain will lend me his exhaust and air box then yes  :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
And tyres  ;)
Look forward to seeing your times Colin. Hopefully a few seconds will be knocked off your previous times.

Moleman

Still spaces left Iainl if you want to do another trackday at combe mate.  ;D

Moleman

If anyone want's something to do tomorrow? Me Lucky Ed & Dave will be at combe if you wan't to come say hello?
It's free to get in & I will even give you a ride around the curcuit if you like?
The new engine is getting it's first real test so passengers are welcome. :D
The only down side is passengers will have to pay a charge of £10 which goes to the walace & gromit fund. but you can have as many goes as you like for that.  :D

Lucky Ed

I'll add to Molemans offer of a ride around the circuit if the thought of Friday the 13th doesn't put you off :o

I'm not planning on breaking too much as I too will be breaking in a new engine - but you never know  ;D ;D ;D

stupott901

Moleman

My internet is down so i will do a report tomorrow. ( using my phone to put this on which aint great).  :(

Lucky Ed

A very wet but fun day was had by all, except the BM owner who totalled his 3 series at Camp and the Peugeot driver who wiped out his front end at Quarry :o

The circuit was incredibly slippery in the wet and was nearly undriveable at times, my T1Rs are hopeless in these conditions - they're going to have to go!. Moleman was having fun getting all that power down, and  had a little off in the same place as last time -he obviously likes that bit of the infield ;D. Dave Doom was flying again showing that 888s do grip in the wet.

There was a good selection of mk2 Escorts and the like in attendance that gave us a great display of drifting before lunch, how they managed to stay out of the barriers was amazing never lifting off the power even when pointing directly at the pit wall :o

We were graced with the presence of Hairy Santa, Casino and Wallnut around the middle of the day, it was good to have the company over lunch but they all declined the offer of a ride in the afternoon and I didn't blame them considering the conditions ;D

All in all a great day out with good company and banter and it was a good first outing for the new engine Iwill try and post some pics tomorrow

WALNUT

That wasent Casino, that was Mozzy, easy mistake to make, Casino is about a foot taller, but they drive the same car..............LOL

I can only repeat what Ed has said.  :D
Though I started off by not worrying about the weather but worrying if I will pass the noise test as the old engine was always 98 decibels & I was sure the new one is louder?
I was right it was louder!! 99 Decibels!! 8) so just under the 100 limit.  :P
At times the weather was really bad & slippery which I lost the bad end again right on the same spot as before sending me yet again into the same part of infield that I went once before.  ::) :-[ :P

Nowhere near as bad as last time though.  :D

We also had a few dry moments which gave me chance to try out how the westy runs with the new engine. All I can say is yes it runs really well!  ;D I managed to equal my personal best lap time in damp conditions with a passenger so can't wait to try it in dry weather with slicks on.  8)
It was good to see the other guys that turned up during the day aswell. Hopefully it will be dryer conditions next time to give then a ride round.  8)
I will put up some video footage later. :D

dave_bence

A challenging but very enjoyable day ;D

Loads of track time, very few queues, good food and enjoyable company.

Thanks to Moleman for the heads up and to Trig the organiser for having us.

Lucky Ed

A few pics from Combe track day

Molemans tractor!

Very wet and very slippery - great fun ;D ;D ;D

'The Gaffer'

Bet the pressure washer was out later Colin  :))

Looks like a very miserable day but glad everyone had a good time. Almost made this one, almost glad I didnt in a way, also found out I had no MOT on the car ::)

fullpint

Colin was telling me about his lap times with the new engine  :o Like he said wait till its dry!!
It did sound lovely Colin when you started it up at Combe on Saturday..

Moleman

Ed. I'm trying to get some top soil for the garden. I'm getting there slowly.  :P
Steve. I do like the sound of the new engine. It will still be getting a little tweeking over the winter.  :)

I'm loading the video's now so may have them up here soon.

Moleman

Well here is the repeat of what I did at combe once before, though I didn't get that muddy this time.  ::)
Watch it to the end to check out my so called mates & the way they was so symphathetic to my perdicament.  ::) :P

This one was one of the dryer seasons of the day. The new mods seem to be working well. Had some learning to do as this engine likes more higher rev's which I got used to by the end of the day.  ;D

'The Gaffer'

Great vids, how strange you span in exactly the same place as last time. Spooky :)

fullpint

Looking good Colin but said The Gaffer said a little spooky.. Fingers crossed your next track day will be nice and dry..

Hairy Santa

I recon its something to do with those orange gloves  :o

Phil. I was a carbon copy of the last one. Even down to where I stopped. I will have to play the both the Video's where I came off next to each other on the same screen like they do on TV.  :)
I'm now wondering if there is a slight bump which makes the car go light at that spot?  ::) :)

Steve. Hope so mate.  ;D

Pete. I couldn't get any yellow one's!  :'( :-*

Camber Dave

Hi Colin

I also ran and reviewed the vid without identifying a cause.

It could be a rear tracking issue. Was there any other squirreling from the back as you added power?
If you would like to bring the car over I will check it again -FOC as regular customer.

Dave

YellaBelly

Moleman

Thanks very much for the offer Dave. I'm sure it was just one of them things & just a coincidence.
The car wasn't squirreling at all on the track considering how wet it was. Just the odd twitch now & then due to the conditions.  :)

It's nice to know the after service is just as good as the job that was done in the first place. If I know I have a free afternoon & your free I may take you up on that offer but I'm sure it aint the car as it was really responsive in the dry.  :D

So if not before I will see you on it's yearly set up.  ;D
