I hope this does get passed - should see an increase in the number (and variety) of events!

QuoteThe government is to change the law to give local authorities the power to stage motor races on public roads.

Prime Minister David Cameron made the announcement on a visit to a new Williams F1 team engineering centre.

The government has conducted a consultation on the issue.

It is currently a criminal offence to promote or take part in a race or trial of speed between motor vehicles on a highway or, in Scotland, on a public road.

The proposal is to give local authorities the powers to suspend speed limits and some traffic regulations, in certain conditions.

I thought they already done this on the Bristol ring road

You can often see something similar around the Riverside Inn, seems to be Thursdays mostly! :D ;)

Apart from the ring road, we have the dodgems in Asda carpark

The fact that the new Formula E (all electric race cars) is planned for a race in London next year surely has nothing to do with it....

Williams and McLaren are both major suppliers to the series.

Should be interesting - I did 100 on the Totenham Court Road in London once.  100 minutes from end to end  ;D
