There is s Sand Sculpture Festival on in Weston at the moment which could add a bit of interest.

A few obvious pointers which may help ......
If the intention is to park on the beach then we need to head for the far end of the promenade (Royal Sands Beach). There are public toilets there and a smallish café on the sea front.
There is also parking on the road along this end and you never know if we are early enough there may be space, this end not being the popular end to park.
If you keep up above the high tide line then the sand should be fairly salt free as it is washed by the rain.

Are we stopping for breakfast? There was some talk of it......did anyone come up with a place to eat? ::)

  Tony

Bulldog Bri

The plan is still a little vage there  :-[ As I've not had any suggestions where to stop.

So when we get to the front or near then we'll find somewhere to eat then (those that want to)

Tony, I don't think there has been any suggestions about a breakfast stop. The only place I can think of that is on route is maybe Puxton Park Farm Shop which is on the A370 just before Weston. They have a largish Restaurant area and loads of parking.

http://www.puxton.co.uk/restaurants.htm

paintman

Could be worth a look.   We could have a chat about it at the laybye maybe, see what the mass wants.

If we go on to the beach I wonder how flat the access ramp is ..... bottoming out may be an issue.

UPDATE - I just had a look on Google Earth photos and the access ramp looks fairly flat (assumimg the photos are up to date).

Hi Guys,

Sorry but I cant make it in the car, been working on it for 2days flat out but it has beaten me

will think about coming on the bike unless someone has a spare seat I could ride shotgun in

Pete

'The Gaffer'

Just got this from the ACKCC forum.

"Remember the sea front is in road works and the road to the beach has big speed bumps I would ground on them, designed to keep boy racers out"

Does anybody know anything about these?

godney5

went there last weekend there ok if you go slow.

Hi Pete, I got a spare seat in my Robin Hood, it is'nt a 2b,not a lot of room, but you are welcome to  jump in if you want. Will be meeting up on the A38,Bedminster lay by, I should be there about 9ish.But I will be coming back a different way, if you can get a lift back from Shirehampton where I live to your place, no problems.

A very nice day out.....great weather, good crowd and the breakfast was very good.

Stopped in a pub on the way back and watched the Grand Prix with my daughter. (she really herself)

Had to let her drive from Cheddar....shes madder than me.  Won't be long before she swaps her MR2 in for a kit car i'm sure!!

Thanks to the organisers for a perfect day out......hope Phil. got home Ok.

    Tony ;)

WALNUT

It was a good turn out today. good pics, even managed to catch me smiling.

Tony

'The Gaffer'

Excellent day and wow what brilliant weather ;D A pretty good turn out too.

Had a little overfueling problem when we were stuck in traffic at WSM - Carbs just need a good clean but got home without any further problems.

A few similar pics of the day..

Bulldog Bri

Absolutely fantastic day  ;D

Really pleased so many made the effort and came along, the weather was supurb too.

In taking pole possision in the convoy I did my best to keep us all together, so thanks for all keeping up and making it a great sight for anyone who saw us on the way  :o

I have penciled in the date again for next year, same meeting place for both clubs, suggestions please for drive and destination with food stop please  ???

I do have some pics but really much the same as the others already posted  ::)

Once again thanks again to all those that came along and made it a great day out.

Had a brilliant run out, nice to see so many cars. Actually met a previous owner of mine ( not the person I bought it off) he was so pleased to see it still going and in good shape. Thanks to the guys that organised it-can't wait for the next one.

Matt

Hi Guys,

On behalf of ACKCC - thanks for a great joint run.  Is a spectacular sight for any member of public, and well done to Brian for keeping the Convoy together...never an easy task with that many cars.

Venue was good, plenty of room and a nice breakfast too.

With the two clubs being so close, its a shame we don't do more together.  With the really sunny weather we've been having do feel free to join us on our monthly runs or anything else you fancy joining in on. Breakfast runs, shows etc...and vice versa, I will try and get up to some of your meets too.  Variety is the spice of life afterall!

Hope to meet up with some of you again, until next time, happy motoring!!

I made a video of all the cars at Puxton, but none of the route.  I do have some of the little MD80 cameras for fixing to the car, but havent got around to fitting them just yet!!

When I was at the back of the convoy on the way to puxton I was kicking myself for not fitting my MD80.  For some reason it didn't even cross my mind!
