A Fiat Seicento 899cc.. And his car has a black box fitted. It logs his speed, time and distance..
I feel for young drivers. Or should I say 'feel for the parents'...

The boy racers are running around Frome in Evos and Subrarus.......but there's only 3 cops in Frome and they're on bicycles i expect so i doubt they bother with insurance!!! :o :o

Am i expecting to much? Mk indy renewal was  £295 and got the quote from 2gether??
Is it the fact that BEC  demand a higher rate when on a Q plate?
Im nearly 50 and have never had an accident, claim or points??
Who else can i try? Need to get back on the road asap..

benchmark51

Sorry to say I'm stuck with 2gether for this year, never again though!
My other regret is that the guy wasn't stood in front of me at the time, his nose would be flatter and wider now.  >:(
Any car insurance needs to be checked before renewal every year. I insured with More Than for several years and allowed them to renew every year without checking. When I did check I found they were charging ' more than' double the best quote.

Moleman

NEARLY 50!!!! Thought you passed that mark ages ago.  :P :P :P :P :P
With a milelage of 5000 a year, clean licence & garaged mine was only £138 with Frank pickles. And I'm only young!!! (not really  :-[)  I'm sure yours must be around there too.
You should definitely shop around afew more people specialsed insurance companys mate.  :)

Try Frank Pickles. Mention you are a BKCC member for a discount

fullpint

It was Frank Pickles who sent my £295 renewal to me  :(
2gether did come up with £250 only to add £50 when I call  :o They reckon they did not get the request that I wished to drive to car (on the odd day) so therefore quote was revised  >:(
Back to the good old google search to try and find a new company who can quote sub £250 hopefully...

Hairy Santa

give A-plan a shout, dont forget to mention the club

Pickles got me a real good deal No one else came close. 8)

I may give them a call to see if they can come down on the renewal.. Didn't agree with doing that tho cause the renewal fee should be the best they can offer. Does make you wonder if they all try it on hoping we just renew the policy  :-\

FWIW I am with Adrian Flux, always have been, very similar cost to Colin around £140 fully comp.  They always try it on at renewal, so a quick call to Frank Pickles for quote and hey presto they price match, a bit annoying but I guess they play the game.  £250 sounds way over the top.  Good luck!

Lucky Ed

Ditto the other guys really, I've just renewed with Frank Pickles for £125 fully comp, only £5 more than last year without asking so cheap enough really.

is fullpints BEC deemed to be a higher risk than car engined kits ??? ::)

I reckon BEC plus the 'Q' Plate could be the reason for the £295+.. Ok the BEC may be quicker off the line but the CEC have a greater top speed. As for the Q?? Well I pass on that one.. I live is a low risk area so that cant be the reason..
I was paying less for my Fiat Coupe 20VT, all mods declaired and running 291BHP  :-\ And the coop could carry 5 adults where as the BEC is just 1+1  :D

robp

I've been with Pickles for a few years.  Just got the renewal through this week.  Mmm, premium seems to have gone up this year.  :(

YellaBelly

Just got my renewal through a couple of weeks ago, (Adrian Flux) and it was £117 - including the £15 'issue fee'  >:( >:(, best quote I got was from FP at £106, so I rang AF back and told them and they gave me £105 all-in and an extra 500 miles-per-year allowance :D

After sounding around I came across a company who came in cheaper than anyone else.Hope I don't regret it if I have to claim, cheapest not always the best and all that.
Anyway their web address is
www.allstylecars,tel number 01206 821330.

Hi all,

I had a problem this year - no IVA appointment in sight but car long finished.  Just about all of the insurers would not touch it until I got a date but VOSA doesn't seem to work very well any more!  I got success with Central Bespoke and they will do discounts for BKCC.  They were not the cheapest but the most flexible when it comes to unusual situations. I am now insured for 5000 miles but going nowhere!  :(

benchmark51

Insurance renewal time and I can now dump 2gether, yeehah!

Got a quote from FP at £108, comp,3K miles,£50 excess. Not too shabby I thought.

Interestingly they do a parts only deal. Any labour I do myself and they pay for the parts. This brings it down to £94.

I think they realize that I would rather do the work myself rather than let some filler factory loose on it.

Has anyone else tried this type of cover? :)

paintman

It appears that Frank Pickles has stopped doing agreed insurance on new policies.....I let mine lapse for a day and they said I would have to have a new
quote and they did not do Agreed Insurance on new policies, what's more it was £8 dearer!!!! :o     Great :'(

Ended up going to A-plan Insurance.....£121 fully comp., legal cover and AGREED INSURANCE!

Nice bloke there (Henry), got a Westfield himself and we end up nattering for over 30 min.

They also do kit car breakdown and recovery including home start for £39.  No quibble about sleeping policemen on private land like I had
at Durham Park and my dented sump......cost me £130 to get the Hood home!

Glad you got it sorted. Next time we will push it on the road.  ;)

'The Gaffer'

Please take time to have a look around our new insurance sponsors website by clicking on the banner ad at the top of the page. AIB (Airsports Insurance Bureau) may not be one of the typical company's that people think about when looking to insure their cars but AIB are very specialist, totally independent and can offer cover sometimes not offered by others.

Try them next time you want a car quote, or even a paragliding, skydiving, flying, or sailing quote.

I'm sure they will be along soon to introduce themselves on the forum.

Dont forget to mention you are a BKCC member for your insurance discount.

Pilgrim Anna

Sorry Im no help on this subject Bri dels with the money side of the cars. Although we have found that Adrian Flux wasn't the cheapest this year! :o So have gone with another company.

robp

My renewal from FP was £140 this year.

With the help of Darren at AIB, I've just got this down to £89 including legal cover and commuting!  8)

Thats a great deal Rob. I suggest anyone with an up and coming kitcar insurance renewal should talk to AIB, just click the banner at the top of the page :)

Ratbag's insurance renewal is approaching so I thought I would give AIB a go. Clicked their link and filled out the form as requested and off it went. So far, 3 days later, haven't heard from them. :(

Thats strange, give them a quick ring and ask for Darren. It may have been an email glitch :(

paintman

I've insured with A-Plan, £119 for the Hood with Agreed Amount insurance....... same amount for the last 3 years!

I took out there breakdown policy too for £39 after the AA charged me £130 to take me home after hitting my sump in
at Durham Park.....they specialise on our sort of cars knowing they are very low. ;) ;)

benchmark51

I have just had the renewal details from Adrian Flux. All looked pretty much the same as last year price wise but the mileage allowance is 1500 miles!

That means if I use it every day for a year, I can do 4.1 miles each day. At a constant 30 mph, about 8 minutes driving. :o OR I could use it all at once and drive non stop for 48 hours (1 week-end) :-\

Comprehensive cover but  an £80 excess on windscreen cover, the policy does NOT use or accrue any no claims bonus.

Now does this sound like good value to anyone?

Still nothing from AIB.

Paintman and anyone else in the club(you know what I mean!!) if you get stuck again then ring around the other members for help. I don't mind coming out to help or give a tow.
