I have just received paperwork from Grosvenor Shows re The Stoneleigh Kit Car Show 2014. Sunday 4th and Monday 5th May 2014 (May Bank Holiday weekend)
This is 'the' show of all kit car shows and I have booked a club stand as usual, we have been allocated our usual stand (54F) See map.
I know its early and things change but do you intend going? With car? Camping? Put your names down please so we can get an idea of numbers. This topic will be left sticky.
It should be mentioned that if you decide to come in your kit / sports car, you will not be expected to stay the 2 days on the BKCC stand, just park your car on it for as long as you are around. You are free to come and go when and as you please.
Camping is optional but could be fun, a great chance to get to know each other over a tipple or two.
More info about the show can be found at www.nationalkitcarshow.co.uk (http://www.nationalkitcarshow.co.uk)
I will be going for one of the days. but not sure which yet? ;D
I'll also be coming along one of the days in the kit car (as long as the weather looks dry)
Cheers
Iain
Yes, I'm planning to go to this event. Not sure which day at the moment.
We'll be there both days, :P

I'm staying at a local B&B
I intend being there for one of the days, dont know which one yet.
Hi Guys , glad you had an enjoyable Christmas lunch.Sorry I missed it. I have been told by a reliable source that there was HEAPS of good grub!!! Guess who ? I am gradually recovering from my op but it is taking more time than I anticipated. Can't wait to get the Royale back from the body shop, but I don't think I could drive it if I had it
I will be going to Stoneleigh probably for 2 days. I hope we get a better turnout this year.
Happy New Year to you all and thanks for the well wishers and visits when I was immobile it helped me along no end
Regards Mozzy
Keep yer chin up Mozzy, heres to a speedy recovery :)
Hi, I will be going,
Mozzy sorry to hear you have had problems. If you are going I think it is our duty to support you. Hope you recover soon and I am sure if you need help with the car it will be there in abundance for you.

They do have some very basic hut type accommodation on site if you dont mind roughing it. Or, there are bed and breakfasts around that someone may recommend, book fast though. Then there is the good old tent :)
Is anyone planning a convey run up on Sunday?
Usual Meeting place for the run up on Sunday is the Griffon Pub, Bridgeyate. No later than 8.00am for a steady run up, last year only me and Anna turned up for it. :( so if anyone wants to join in let us know and we'll make a list. ;D
8)
Oh, brian. Now your telling porkies, I came in the van. Will be in Ratbag this year though.

Great, see you there.
I may join you. Like everyone else as I'm only doing one day I'm waiting to see on what the weather is doing. :D
Providing my other half hasent got any wedings to do over this weekend then we should be going :)

Being in the van, no-one would have known you were part of a convoy ;D ;)
8)
So who else is up for a convoy to Stoneleigh then? :)
I should be good to go. Have a potential problem as have been asked by 2 people if they can come up, but only have 1 spare seat. Anyone got a spare seat? If not gonna have toss a coin :-\
Theres an idea, anyone done a stretched seven?
Im still not sure witch day im going, but I will have a spare seat.
I'm planning on the Sunday & going up in convoy with Bri, but waiting on the weather is doing a bit closer to the date.
I may have a spare seat as well depending if Dazzer would like to go or not. :D
I've booked the Monday off ( finally ) so may I put my name for Monday please if the weathers ok ish I might even take the tiger for a spin . on a side note I've been up a couple of times to stoneleigh and just parked in one of the car park and walked in payed how would this differ?
Kit car and driver get in free. any passengers still pay. Simples :P
8)
I will be arranging A meeting place in Bridgeyate on the A420 to head up to Stoneleigh for about 8am about a week before this event.
We will be going up A429 & if there is anyone who want's to meet up on route please let us know.
It'll need to be 8:00 latest otherwise setting off your never quite sure if everyone's that's going has arrived. Any that do turn up late will just have to catch up.
Also any later and we'll get caught up in Badminton traffic. We keep to a easy pace for the run up and it takes about 2 hours.
8)
QuoteIt'll need to be 8:00 latest
'cos Brian's got a trailer and is limited to 50 now..... ;D
No, I've always kept convoy's to a steady pace to kept them together, Best one so far was 23 car's from Axbridge to Puxton Park (near Weston) and didn't lose 1.

Well I'm up for the convey. Due to the gearing and the turbo there are certain speeds it will cruise at happily and others that are impossible to stick to as it comes on boost :o and it is pain to maintain. I'm getting this disclaimer in early as i don't want you thinking I am being rude or a hooligan if I have to adjust my cruising speed ???
Great pic Bri.
King of the convoy!!

Brian.... You get my vote as convoy leader.... and my wife's vote..... and Millie our dog.
Well I can safely say it won't be Walnut leading as we might end up in Scotland. :P
As long as we all get there in one piece ;D
I'm gonna miss not being part of that convoy :(

Sorry guys going to have to miss this one this year.

Hope you guys have a great time and will join you guys for many other events this year I promise!!!!
No problem mate. Hope to see you at some point then. :)
That's a shame :( always next year ;D

Stick Iancider in front of you so he don't film it this time. :P
OK who would like to meet up to do a convoy to the show on the Sunday at The white Harte BS30 5NA just after The Griffin. (I have been told that the griffin are getting a bit funny about parking there).
I'm thinking 7.30am :o I know it's early but it seems to be the general opinion to avoid Badminton traffic & to get there early enough to see eveything?
What do you think guys? Please let me know? Be honest I don't mind. ;D
Colin
Put me down for the meet, I will throw in a tent / bag in case the weather holds out for the two day's, 07:30 is o.k
Ok by me, thats my local! ;D ;D
Think you know we'll be there. :-)
8)
Ill be there for 7.30
I'm in, will be there 7.30(ish - the other half is coming...)
No 12v socket in the cyclone yet so my sat-nav won't be working. Will bring one of those old fashioned maps just incase...

Not sure that the landlord of the White Hart would appreciate cars turning up at 07:30, what about a layby ?
Just dug out the tent and bag, here,s looking for good weather :D
Hi
We will be coming on Monday, what time do we need to be there by?
And do we need a pass or anything to get in?
Cheers

You can get there at any time and as a kit car driver you'll get in free but any passengers will have to pay the entry fee. Once in just straight in, 1st right then right again we're down there on the left ;D

There is a car park for the cycle path about 400yards past the Esso/Tesco garage just off the ring road, would that be a better meeting place?

Not knowing that side of Bristol very well, Don't know. As long as we all know where to meet by Saturday evening, that should do

Looks like a plan :)
The white harte bit is a public lay by as far as I'm a where so it should be fine. :)
TBH, I think I agree with Steve here, it may be a public layby but very close to the pub, and 7:30 is quite early for a meeting of some fairly (loud) noisy cars ???

I don't think it will be a problem, they are quite easy going there. That said we should try to be considerate and no uneccesary noise, doughnuts ect. I can have a word with the landlord if you like, but I think he will say the same.
Ok. If you can do that, then no worries. ;D see you all there :-*

There is a car park, but on a residential cul de sac full of elderly and disabled people. I walk through it every morning with my dog. The White Harte is better, I often go there in Ratbag.
If you can ask them Dave then even better. But it should be fine. :)
As requested, we will be having a quick stop for those that need a rest room break ;) at some services just past Cirencester near the A417 ;D
8)
It is possible that car craft may have slightly, just a little bit, but not by much underestimated the size if the fuel tank on my car. Nothing to do with the engine of course, not at all. Nope *
* I might need to stop en-route for fuel.
Any news on the meeting point? I drove past the pub yesterday and the layby looked good to me provided we all arrive & leave quietly.
I will be up the Harte tonight and will speak to the landlord about the meet but see no problem. Of course thats on the understanding Jeremy Clarkson isn't coming! ;) ;D
Thanks Dave. Though I think it will be fine so I'm sticking my neck out & saying the meeting point Will be at the white Harte lay-by. We will just respect the fact it is early & people like a lie in on a sunday morning. :)
We will meet at 7.30 am & will leave at 7.45 am sharp!
Anyone who is late will have to catch up. :)
I,m with CC not sure that 6 gallons will get me there in one stint !!!
I'm thinking about trying to make this gathering....
Just out of interest the White Harte does not own the lay-by at the front. The pub used to be owned by Courage many years ago when I worked for them. Having said that it is a good move to speak to the Landlord as we don't want to up-set anybody.

The landlord (Derek) has been away on holiday, but came back today and I have asked about our meet. As I thought he has no problem with it whatsoever. However I would ask that everyone keeps the noise levels to a minimum and so preserve the facility for the future.
That's great Dave,

Soz mate, checked through the whole thread and didn't see your name there :-[ You can stop for a breakfast if you want but I think it more for a relief stop and a re-fuel for the thirstier cars :P
8)
Sorry Pete. Just checked the tread & if you don't say your going I can't stick you on the list. :) see you tomorrow bright & early. :D
I Don't want to talk about it , Suffice to say I used a lot less fuel coming home than going :( :( :( :( :(
Sorry to hear you had a problem, pray tell what happened as we've been wondering where you got to?
being at the front I was unaware youd dropped out till we got to Stoneleigh! :o
8)
Just got back and put the car away. Had a great day out and good to meet some of you at last. Unfortunately we had to leave quite early in the afternoon with family commitments but had a great run out and put another 200 trouble free miles on the car.
See you all again soon.
Two miles from the show I blew a head gasket and split a bottom hose, in a cloud of steam and oil, got recovery to bring me back, best £30 extra on the insurance I've ever spent. TWO bloody miles short >:( >:( >:( >:(
Anyone know a good place to get heads cleaned and skimmed!!
It was good to see you & your car Cc Cyclone. I did wonder where you got too. See you again soon mate.
Oh my god Peterw I did wonder where you had gone. It must of happened just after we passed you on the duel carriageway. We looked out for you but just thought you got caught in the traffic on the roundabout. I didnt have your mob number or I would have called to see where you had gone.
Last thing I saw was Walnut overtaking me using one hand to hold his hat on !! Then it all went Pear Shaped
I think Brights auto centre on Filton ave mate. My mates garage use them alot for that sort of thing. I will check for you.
Just to make you feel even more gutted Peter it was a really good day & with 15.5 cars parked in our club stand, almost 16.5 if you made it mate I think that may have been a record.
There are still some guys there tonight & will be there tomorrow if anyone else would like to join them. 8)
Great day today, nice to see some familiar faces and to say hello to some new ones for me. Charlie and me got a bit sun burnt but I think it was from the dazzling chrome on mendip Wurzels car!! How do you keep that clean??
A great day out and lots of very impressive cars; I last saw RobP figuring out which body parts he could sell to buy the T70 Moda in the main hall!
I was well pleased with my £25 carbon fibre effect dashboard and that was within the budget allocated by my financial advisor!
Thats a real shame about PeterW's breakdown - can't believe we didn't notice until we got to the site - hopefully its recoverable though.

Excellent run out and what a great show..... I struggled to get around everything as there was so much to see....
Sorry to hear about Peters car, I did wonder what had happened..... and also sorry to Walnut on the way back with me jumping lanes at the last minute.... I couldn't see my TomTom screen because of the sun, hence the last minute manoeuvres.

I thought this was an ingenious way to connect a detectable tow bar, and something I may copy.
Just got in the door, :o A very gentle run home as we got stuck behind a few that just didn't want to get moving >:( but also I had a blowing exhaust downpipe and my front brakes ( I think are now binding somewhere) but still could have gone faster than what was in front :(

Great weekend away as ever. won't bother putting more photo's up as Anna has covered pretty much all of what we saw ;-)

They were good pic's mate. 8)
Had a great day, wish I could have stayed over but had to get back for Rex. Gonna have to get him a harness and train him to travel in Ratbag. Took a very lengthy and meandering route back and got back to the White Harte and took a travel break and a swift half or two. Got to within 50 feet of the garage and suffered a breakdown - fuse went on the main beam. So overalls on today and sort that out, work work work, does it never end ::).
Great photos - good show and comiserations to Peter W.
Sadly I think I witnessed the event without realising it :(. Passing Peter as a load of tin-tops tried to invade the convoy, I got an olily misting on my screen - so sorry Peter I had no idea it was your car. If I can assist with your repairs being just down the road please let me know - only too happy to help.
I too had a mishap on the way home. Spent ages crawling in traffic and just as I got going, I gave Wifey an involuntary hot shower in the passenger seat as a heater hose blew off again. A different one this time but it seems to be a problem with silicone hoses on un-swaged connecting spiggots. Wifey very impressed that I managed to fix it in 20 minutes by the roadside. A very kindly local brought me a watering can to refill and off we went. We met at least a hundred horse boxes on the way back, several thousand cyclists riding at least two abreast, thousands of hikers and the rest were tourists. It must have been a bank holiday :o
Regards
Ian
Sounds like another good show and a good time for all! Gutted, this is the first one I've missed for a long time :(
Maybe next year we can make it in the Midget, if I ever get my finger out and put it on the road!! Almost taking as long as Bri's Locost :P ;) :D
Glad you all enjoyed it, shame for Peter though, let's hope it's sorted soon. ;)
A very nice 2 day break,
Thanks to Brian and Anna for putting me up, ---- or putting up with me ;)
Well worth going, great weather, great company and more than enough nice cars to look at
I'm going stir things a little now ::)
When we arrived there on the Sunday our pitch wasn't marked out with out marker, but the 'National Street Rod Association' and they didn't seem to pleased that we just came in and took most of their pitch! >:( Either something didn't get fully sorted with our paperwork for our usual pitch at our end or the organisers messed up! >:(
Now with our club putting on the best attendance ever on the Sunday and also me being part of the Pilgrim Owners club which is showing less cars by the year with a much larger and more prominent pitch, I'm happy to see if they may like to pitch share for next year, giving half up for us and at the same time helping them keep a prime spot and boosting their numbers as we do have a few Pilgrims in our club ;)
Thoughts please ::)

I couldn't find 'National Street Rod Association' on the list. Was it a case of them squatting?
Isn't there provision of space for 'ad hoc' arrivals.
Not really, as they had a sign with their club name on it, we didn't! >:(

There was an empty plot next to us. It wasn't labelled. It couldn't have been for us though; far too small.
Heh, just noticed. I've just been promoted to Hero member!!! 500 posts! 8)
Sorry, back on topic now! ::) ::) ::)
There must have been a cock up at there end as there was an empty plot next to us but that was smaller than our normal plot. I don't have to tell you Bri that we parked in our normal plot. :)
I also don't have a problem with sharing with the Bulldog club if it is big enough mate. :)
Congrats Rob on 500 posts.

I limit the use of Silicone hoses for the same reason it that they have a habit of somehow loosening themselves. I've generally gone back to good old rubber hoses as in my opinion much more reliable.
So that is at least 3 of our cars that had mechanical problems.... Peter, Benchmark and Iancider
Just to add to the list my car decided it did not want to tick-over for the last 20mls and I kept stalling at every junction, most annoying. I think I may have cured the problem in that there was a partial blockage in the fuel pump, probably not helped by me almost running the tank dry and having to use the spare gallon of fuel that I always carry.
I don't feel quite so bad now :) :) :)
Hey there, lovely to meet lots of you at stoneleigh on Monday - it was a great day.... :D

Interesting. I have confirmation letter for the usual pitch, will check with organisers as to what went wrong.
Bri, Just get pilgrim owners to join our club if they want to, I'm not too keen on dividing our pitch. This would boost our presence too and make admin easier.
I really had the best intentions of going this year but have recently taken on a new contract which is getting in the way of everything at the mo. Pleased everybody had a great time. Nice pics.
Happy 500th Rob :)
The idea is to share their much larger more prominent pitch. Right on the main drag up from the entrance gate, which they bearly fill a quarter of. This would boost our presence and help them keep a high profile spot. ;)
Also, on the Sunday we had 16.5 cars there we pretty much filled our pitch! :o If we put on a bigger showing next year we won't have room ::)

The Formula 27 pitch was quite big yet was filled with just 1 car!
According to the owner of that car the Formula 27 club no longer exist
and he was suprised to see the pitch at all.

problem is, their pitch is right out of the way. :(

Was there pitch opposite the westfield one Bri? or was that the Pilgrim cobra one. :-\

Yep. That's the one. There was a cobra on there, a gold one for sale. :D

I am of the view that our club identity is of the upmost importance because of its multi marque presence so sharing another clubs pitch would go against that and would do nothing to promote us as a club.

I agree, which is why taking the formula 27 pitch makes sense to me. Solve the space problem and maybe help the formula 27 enthusiast/s by incorporating them within our club. Beside the formula 27 is a 7esque car that would fit in well. Their position at the end of avenue F isn't bad. Between 2 entrances/exits, closeish to the WC's and at the end of a road that leads right up the middle of the site. Not to mention away from the rubber burning.
I wasn't looking to just join them on their pitch and just mingle in together, No! but more divide it up for the 2 clubs, half each as its also a much deeper pitch. The club identity wouldnt be compromised because as people are walking up to the pitch the first thing they would see would be our banners. Also would be easier for anyone who needs to leave earlier to get going, as with ours at the moment if we contine to grow like we are then its just going to make that more difficult as we only really just fit on our pitch now.
The clubs identity is very important to me as well and I'm extremely proud to belong to this club thats why our cars are on our pitch not the Pilgrim one, and feel this would promote our club to a higher level not lower our standing as it would show we ARE a serious club and need more room.
If this to much to ask I'll back off and let us stay where we are, But I will add that as someone that goes every year for both days, I see how full we get and how much foot traffic doesn't come down our road past our pitch.
8)
The pitch Bri is on about is a really nice size & in a great location. You could easy slit it for both clubs with loads of room for both. 8)
Quick map view
(http://s12.postimg.org/he8e1ybjd/Stoneleigh.jpg) (http://postimg.org/image/he8e1ybjd/)
From this you can see the comparative pitch sizes and how much closer to the main halls meaning we'll be much more visible to people walking past. We are a constantly growing club, when we first went up there as a club, we were new and small, we've grown and I think need to show this. :P
8)
Well, my view is that the pitch we had was too small, on sunday at least. Other clubs seemed
to line 'the street' whereas we were three deep.
I am still a little concerned that passers by will not be able to distinguish between the two clubs, I'm sure that not everyone will know what a Pilgrim is so having two clubs on one pitch with both signs could be confusing and dilute our presence rather than enhancing it. For me club identity is paramount and I have worked hard over the years making the BKCC multi-marque approach a success.
If the suggestion is to literally cut their current pitch in half with separate identities I don't have a problem with that at all, as long as it is done officially through the organisers so we are listed there.
I do realise that more space is needed as the club is growing every year and I have a lot of respect for Bri and the many others for attending year after year promoting us so I welcome suggestions from the people on the front line.
The logical thing to do would be to simply swap pitches, or for the Pilgrim owners to join our club, but I guess they don't want to lose their identity either.
Sorry for the delay guys... Been busy, but thanks to some bad weather I have managed to finish of the slide show for Stonleigh 2014.
