Title: BKCC club meal.
Post by: Moleman on 15, September, 2015, 08:46:20 PM
Put this date in your dairy!
Our Christmas meal will be on 13th December after the Queens Square meet.
You don't have to go to Queens Square to join us for the meal.
Anyone one who is a member can join us even if your car is off the road, not built yet or you had one but now you don't but would like to catch up!

Details will follow in due course.

And don't forget Parner's, Wife's, Boyfriend's, Girlfriend's or Just a friend will be most welcome.

We will be going to the Hunters Rest Inn

The Hunters Rest Inn, King Lane, Clutton Hill, Bristol BS39 5Q

Click on the link to see it here =  http://www.huntersrest.co.uk/

The Hunters Rest Inn was originally built around 1750 as a hunting lodge for The Earl of Warwick.
The Earl picked his site perfectly, set in beautiful countryside high on Clutton Hill with commanding views over the Cam Valley to the Mendip Hills, and over The Chew Valley to the port of Bristol.

It will be held on Sunday 13th December at 12.30pm

Everyone is welcome.  :)   If your car is off the road, not built yet or you had one but it is now sold & would like to catch up! please come & join us. At this time of year we are not expecting you to come in the kit car.

Don't forget you can bring your other half or just a friend.

It will be the Christmas menu which there is a choice of four different things on each. This will be a set price of £23.50
to which I would need a £5 deposit

Click here to see the menu  =  http://www.huntersrest.co.uk/Christmas2015.pdf

I have given you plenty of notice for this so hopefully you have already made arrangements for someone to babysit the dog & walk the kids for that day, You may think it is a little early to decide now but I have been looking at options for this for quite some time & things are already getting fully booked.

So please if you have any questions I would be happy to help where I can. Ian & myself have worked hard all year to bring this club some wonderful events to go to so do us proud & join us in our last event of the year.  8)

So take a look at the menu, choose what you would like then put your name down (also your +1 if you would like to bring one) with a commitment to pay me the deposit by the middle of November

I will start the ball rolling = Moleman          - Garlic mushrooms, Roast Beef, Chocolate Cheesecake.      £5 paid
Mrs Moleman    - Garlic mushrooms, Roast Beef, Chocolate Cheesecake.      £5 paid

(don't worry I will be bringing a copy of who said what)  :D

I'm still hoping we will get some old & new names to this list so please feel free to put your name down if you haven't joined us in a club event before or you just haven't been out with us for sometime.  :)

There are also some regulars that haven't responded either. :)

Having some fun trying to juggle some commitments so we can come. What time do you think the meal will be done by? Would need to get away by 3pm at the absolute latest. If that works then Sand and I are IN!

Both of us Garlic mushrooms, Pot roast beef, Cheesecake.

Won't be able to do queens square though so the santa costume will have to have a rest.

Colin for some reason unless I'm a muppet which by the way is possible mine and the better halves choices are incorrect. They are supposed to be

Mrs Fletcher: Garlic mushrooms, Roast Beef, cheese and biscuits

Me: Pate, Roast Turkey, Chocolate cheesecake

Thank you
Fletch

The Conolly's are very pleased to be invited to our Christmas meal as our guests of honour and they are really looking forward to it.  Ben, the inspiration behind GO! Inspire will be there and will be able to tell you about his future plans.  You will be able to see what a remarkable young man he is, even though he still has huge obstacles lying ahead of him. Ben would also like to say thank you to everybody who has helped launch his ambition.

SOME DIRECTIONS

The post code is: BS39 5QL

Now this pub is along a tiny little lane and remote.  You will have a moment when you think there can't be anything down here but this was once King John's Hunting lodge in the middle of the forest.

If you come in from the A39 direction via Farmborough look for the little triangular green and what used to be a pub - the empty signpost is still there.  Head down Flatts lane and it becomes King lane.  You will encounter a little hamlet with no name - keep right and the eagle eyed will see a Brown sign for the Hunter's rest.  It is then about half a mile on the right.  As you arrive there appears to be very little parking but if you look near to the pub entrance there is a farm gate, a steep slope down and a large car-park below.  It is still worth getting there early to be sure of a parking space.  This place is popular!

If you are arriving from the A37 turn into the A368 [CARE /REQUIRED] and take the first tiny lane to the right and it does have a Brown sign to the Hunter's rest.  BE CAREFUL - this lane is narrow and has suffered from storm erosion.   At the edge of the road do not drive into puddles - some are deep potholes that will swallow a wheel.  Follow this lane for about 3/4 mile to an un-signposted T junction and turn LEFT.  The Hunters rest is 1/4 mile on your LEFT.  Turn-in just before the from car-park for the major car parking below and down the slope.

ALTERNATIVELY.  Carry on along the A368 for just over a mile until you get to the big junction with the A39 at Marksbury (Big Petrol Station on right.) Turn RIGHT into the A39 here and follow the top set of directions after Farmborough.

If you get lost call me on 07710 75 66 97

Ian

It was a massive success and a very nice meal and a chance to put more names to faces. Here's looking forward to another great year with the club events and get togethers.

Looks like you all had a great time.  I'm missing the cold and the pub meals.  XXXX and prawns on the barbie doesn't cut it at this time of year  :D

Cheers Adrian

Went to Queens Sq in the morning but it wasn't very busy at all. Did a circuit but decided not to stay and headed on down to Clutton. Arrived at 11:40 (via Ian's deep muddy puddle) and went in to 'case the joint'  ;D. Totally different to how I remembered it 40 years ago and to my relief non of my ex wenches were there! Mind you the ones that were there were very agreeable. Very nice place and food was very good too. Will go back there again. Could have done with a bit of rain on the way back but it stayed dry, so I washed enough Somerset mud off of Ratbag to qualify for a postcode. :D

Thank you to Moleman for being organised and having the print outs of what everyone had ordered.

Fantastic food, good company and surprisingly not as much talk about cars as I was expecting - good to know that we are a social club as well as a car club.

Merry Christmas all!
