Title: Annual Cherished Vehicle Show
Post by: Moleman on 01, January, 2014, 04:54:50 PM
This is a event some of us went too last year which was really good.
Our Annual Cherished Vehicle Show will be held on 1 June 2014, again at Allington Farm, Chippenham, Wiltshire SN14 6LJ, on the A420 towards Bristol near Castle Combe race track.

Exhibitors' vehicles, drivers or riders, and up to one passenger are free. Spectators and other visitors are £5 and children under 10 enter free. Exhibitors' vehicles must be pre-registered.

There is plenty of parking and easy access with an improved layout and new easy exit from the site. There will be attractions for little ones and bigger ones, guaranteed!

The famous Allington Farm Shop catering will be there again, starting early for hungry exhibitors!

Our 2013 event was a huge success with over 200 exhibitors' vehicles and several thousand people attending. Details can be viewed on our website at www.chippenhamlions.org.uk

APPLICATIONS TO REGISTER FOR 2014 ARE NOW INVITED.

Please circulate to any other enthusiasts you are in contact with. Don't wait, BOOK NOW, we are limited to 200 entries. It's going to be a great Show.

For each exhibitor, I need Club/Organisation (if applicable), Owner's or Driver's (Rider's) Name, Vehicle Make, Model, Year and Registration Number, by email. By all means send a list and add to it as many times as you wish.

Passes will be issued by email to the email address from which the registrations are sent shortly before the Show.

Please note that entries must be pre-registered and will not be allowed on the day.

Send entries to cvs@chippenhamlions.org.uk. Please do not reply to this email.

We look forward to seeing you on 1 June 2014 for another fantastic day.

Bob Astwood
Event Organiser

Please use cvs@chippenhamlions.org.uk or cvehicleshow@chippenhamlions.org.uk. They both have the same destination. Please do not use cvehicleshow@gmail.com as it is not monitored.

Please note the Lions Club of Chippenham cannot accept any liability for any loss or damage involving motor vehicles. Please make sure your Insurance is adequate.

Who is up for this? If you are please put B.K.C.C on your form & I will speak to Bob to arrange a club stand?

I'm keen to do this one.

Do you want us to make individual applications or shall we submit a group list?

Thanks
Ian

Ian. It will be alot easier for you guys click on the link & send bob your details, Just don't forget to let them know you are from B.K.C.C as I have emailed Bob to request a club parking area.

Can I ask you guys just to wait before doing this until I get a reply just incase they can't allocate us some club parking spaces & if not I will do a list for the club parking.  :)

Anyone else up for this one then?  :D

What about sending your details off? :)

It will pay to send off your details for this if you are thinking about it? It don't cost anything & will guarantee a place if you end up wanting to go? :)

Had my pass sent by email today. I haven't used my printer for a long time so had a fair bit of 'tickling' to do to coax it into printing my pass. It is an Epsom that I modded and runs on 6 carts' connected by capillary tubes and fed by 6 ink tanks. Managed to get the ink flowing, after umteen head cleans, head alignment, test page and many inky fingers! Got an acceptable print which I have laminated ready for the screen. Just got to hope the weather behaves now.  8)

to much hassle as far as I am concerned

just had my pass come through, cant see where the hassle is. We had people saying the same thing last year, and it turned out to be one of the most laid back shows I went to last year.

I've had my pass too but don't think I shall bother going. ::)

Got to be there by 9.30am and must stay to 5.00pm......got better things to do than stay there all day......and if it starts to rain what are we supposed to do, sit in the cars with no hoods getting wet for our trouble???

Think i'll give it a miss. >:(

I wouldn't worry about the times too much. I can understand getting there earlyish, but leave when you have to. I will. I think this is a statement of their preference not an absolute rule.

We went through all this last year. Nobody was asked for insurance papers, and people came and went when they wanted, they just have to cover there selves
Title: Re: Annual Cherished Vehicle Show
Post by: benchmark51 on 24, May, 2014, 09:38:26 AM
My insurance was done online and have no paper copy of it anyway.
My documents are checkable via the database for anyone entitled to look.
The police are happy with that and so am I, so won't be taking insurance papers.

Hope the weather is better than this weekend, they are a good bunch doing an event for charity, they only ask to stay as long as possible so late arriving visitors get to see the show cars. But they won't stop you if you want to leave, can't see me staying till 5 either.

I'll be taking the banner and set things up so that we've got an area for us ;)
Just wondering if any one has one of those pop up gazebos that could be used on the day for some possible shelter, I can bring my trailer for chairs as well.

Weather is important to us and it decides Whether we will go... see what I did there? :D

The outlook is GOOD ish.  But recently the only consistent thing about weather forecasts have been their inconsistency.  This morning Carol Kirkwoood (lovely lady) hinted it was looking good for the weekend then later the same morning anouther BBC forecaster said it is not looking too good and then on Channel 4 we were told it was looking pretty good but there were blue blobby bits on the chart.

So I have taken a good look at the weather widget - Shepton Mallet being the closest.  GOOD all day Friday = drying ground.  DRY with sun all day Saturday = DRY GROUND probably.  Sunday cloudy but dry until 16:00.  So cross fingers...

All I forecast is that the next forecast will be different!

Weather is looking GOOD and only a small chance of a shower today so ground is likey to be soft but not boggy.  Rumour of "SUN" by 10:00 and no rain all day YEHHH! 8)

Tony. If the meeting point is out your way then we will have to meet you in there mate. We should be there by 25 past.   They don't let you save spaces for other people I'm afraid. I'm going to be late so I probably wont be parked next to you guys myself.  ::)

Just checked my goggle map & it still says 15mins from the white Harte to Allington Farm. Mine must be set on the way I drive then.  :P

Nope,

Google must have been taken over by the Met Office and so the forecast journey time changes frequently! ;D

Anna's doing a few photo's later as well. ;) (of the show ;D)

It was a really good day. Great weather good company & lots to see.  8)
I do wish they would let us out the way we came in though. It was very challenging for me & Fullpint to exit the place. But worth the effort.  8)

It was a rather convoluted way out ??? and seeing the way we came in wasn't being used, Why couldn't it be used for a way out at that time of day, no more exhibiters were going to coming in! ::)

Yes it was a good day.

It was little ironic to put the piglets and lambs alongside the barbie. And given current trends, I thought rhe horses looked worried too!

Good to see a gender balance in our attendance and a good age spread too.  Loved meeting Steve and Sandy's Gandchildren - they are SOooo CUTE!

I had some other little visitors in my car - helped in by their parents who declined to politely ask first.  So I watched from a distance and thought it okay but spent the journey howm glued to a sticky steering wheel.  So little visitors are okay but could the parents give them a wipe-down first please! ??? >:(

We also enjoyed the spy in the sky helicopter video camera - Hopefully some video will be posted - may post some myself!

The exit was err interesting - I think we should propose an alternative next time.  I agree that the guy on the entrance could have held the traffic for our exit.  It was also doubly daft because the car park for the visitors was closer to the exit than the entrance!

Yes, I had a little visitor or two as well. Had a good go at the switches, everything turned on. Must of thought it was pretty crap 'cos nothing worked! I always switch the electrics off when parked.

I had a yuk burger, would have been better off playing squash with it! Was going to suggest having a whip round so we could have shared a cup cake. A chip van would have been very welcome there though or maybe a spud-u-like.

We spotted some celebs, Rolf in the the chuffy train and Lara Croft in her best shorts. Half expected her to whip out a gun and shoot down the drone.

Still, very lucky with the weather which helped make it a good day out. I agree they should have let us out of the entrance we came in through, wasn't like there were queues waiting to get in

Its a GoPro Hero 3 Black Fullpint.  No viewfinder so you cant see what you are shooting but with wide angle you dont miss much.  The GoPro Black has Bluetooth and you can remote control it with phone/ipad.  You might whince at the price but it will also film fish underwater!

I am pleased you enjoyed the video but I was so impressed with the quadcopter video camera.  I've tried to find some published footage from it but nothing yet.  Here is what it was

http://www.banggood.com/Walkera-QR-X350-Pro-FPV-GPS-RC-Quadcopter-DEVO-10-For-Gopro-3-RTF-p-916860.html?currency=GBP&utm_source=google&utm_medium=shopping&utm_content=miko_ruby&utm_campaign=rc-quad-uk&gclid=CKfyio2v5r4CFQPKtAodfx4Ajw

And here is a perfect showreel from a rival.   8)

I have also been looking at some of the cheaper video helicopters on ebay which start from about £40..... not sure how good they are for that sort of money but certainly interesting.
