The question has to be asked.

Didn't the driver or any of the passing vehicles carry a fire extinguisher ?

Most of the vehicle could have been saved !

Scary stuff, don't know if it would have helped in this case but I allways fit a battery master switch and carry a fire extinguisher.
BTW don't have a dry powder extinguisher in a vehicle, the vibration causes the powder to compact and it doesn't work when you need it...lesson learned the hard way! :-[

The first thing I bought for the Hood was a fire extinguisher.....vital for a kit car in my opinion.

I think I would have cried ..... enough to give you night mares!!

My first thought were please go out im sure that will polish out , then well at least the cockpit is ok , then the fire men arrive and spray water everywhere all the electrics in the cockpit rip off the nose cone I was just waiting for them to rip off the side panels... A day i wish never happens to me.

As other have said I suppose that why we have a battery cut out and carry a fire extingisher.

Do you think the fire brigade used enough water...

Poor chap

My thoughts too ! all it would have taken was the guy with the camera to use a garden hose and it could have been saved. I'm sure a few of those trucks would have an extinguisher !

I've been on a fire warden training course (it's fun !) Powder extinuishers are recomended for small garages, but they do create one heck of a mess !

A CO2 extinuisher would probably be ok, but heavy though. Cut the power and you kill the fuel pump. I think the racing ones use some a fluid (possibly water) chemical, soap mix.

I've seen the mess that a fire like that can cause. O doubt you can save anything from whats left. The heat would have roasted the chassis. You can see smoke billowing around the rear tyres, so most of the back end would have been roasted as well.
