Stoneleigh 2015
May 3rd and 4th
Not long really now peep's, just a little over 3 months to go for the best kit show of the year. :P And this year we're going up in profile as we've now got a much more prominent stand for our club, I've been chatting with the boy's at the Pilgrim club who have a stand on the main drag going into the show but their numbers have been dropping steadily over the last few years so to help them keep their large area we will be splitting it between the 2 clubs, any Pilgrims in our club can sit on the boarder of the 2 making their club look a little better and our club gets a more noticeable space. Everyone wins. :P
So we have the chance to put on our best showing ever, we're a large forum club with loads of members and cars. So come and joins us or just say 'Hello'
Who's going?
1. Bulldog Bri
2. Pilgrim Anna
3.
As a newbie to this whole kit car scene I'm not overly familiar with how this show works - As its a two day thing do people go up on Saturday and come home Sunday or just attend one day or the other? Do most people camp or stay in local accommodation? Do people fend for themselves (in terms of catering) or are there any community arrangements, or is it like a festival where you live off bacon rolls and burgers for the weekend? If camping, what are the domestic/welfare facilites - are we talking rows of overflowing thunderboxes or something more salubrious?
This show is held on the first bank holiday Sunday - Monday of May. Normally we try and have a convoy up on the Sunday morning, arriving at around 10am at. There is camping on site for anyone who wants to make the most if the show or if you want there is also some rooms available as well. Me and Anna camp, it's more fun ;) we bring a camping stove so you'd be welcome to use that. (Bring your own supplies) Or use the over priced catering vans. Personal facility's are adequate ::)
Hope you can make it.if so copy and paste the lead post and ad your name. ;D

As a veteran of many Glastonburies I can cope with camping and thunderboxes, although the legendary long-drops are more of an experience! The range of food available means I've never cooked whilst there (and the prices aren't too bad)
My biggest barrier to coming will be my daughter's care needs - I'll have to see if alternative arrangements can be made. She comes to Glastonbury and we stay in the disabled field but I don't think she'd want to come to a boring kit car show (and I don't think we'd fit her wheelchair in the GTM!)
Convoy on Sunday again for me. Must start putting the Cyclone back together.
I'm up for this one, last year I parked up in the SDR area.... needless to say I was the only one there.
I'm up for the Sunday convoy.
I am going to suggest a modified route this year to avoid the horse boxes and 4x4's on their way to Badminton Horse trials. Pursue the A420 all of the way to Bath A350 and then take the faster A429 - it is quite pretty and quick and we can pay homage to two racetracks at Hullavington and Kemble ;):D
Ian
Count me in as well, but I'll only be there one day
OK to confirm. Bri has organised a stand share with the pilgrim owners club and I have ok'd this with Grosvenor Shows. So we now on stand 76 which is in a great position first stand to the left after the kit car entrance, see map that was for another club's move but you can see where our new stand is..

Quite a lot of us go up on the Sunday in convoy & head home on the day at our own leisure.
There is also accommodation on site if you want to go down that route. :)
Looking at this map Phil, I'd say that 76a is the blank pitch just above where it says 76as that is where the Pilgrim Owners club normally is and on their site they have said they have 76a as well 76 is where the Rickman owners set up site and 60 is where the JBA owners go. 53 opposite is the Westfield Club ;D

I will be there, dunno what in though.
Dave, if you bring the Trannie it WILL be used as the club tea room. :P
8)
Well, I was considering using it and staying overnight. Of course that would mean bringing Rex. It would be a good try out for future trips though. I have an awning as well. have to see nearer the time.
Spotted a 'mother-in-law section on Ebay! Not that I got one, but someone might want it :P

The Rickman Owners club are listed as being on 76B in last years guide so I'm confused now. So is it the plot on the map with no number that we are sharing?
Yes ;D If everyone is in their normal spots then the blank one is the one we'll be sharing. :D
The Pilgrim club have us mentioned on their site as well. http://pilgrim-cars.com/index.php/topic,828.0.html?PHPSESSID=d87af767d5010452846599c21b254580

We will definitely be attending. We never miss out on our Annual Pilgramage. We maybe going up on the Saturday instead this year and staying 2 nights. Undecided at the moment. ::)
Not sure on this one yet, after last years catastrophy :D :D
Bri Just been given a weekend off for good behaviour so can you put me down for the Sunday and Monday, I will dig the tent out. ;)
And to remind everyone. I've got us a superb pitch site shared with the Pilgrim Club right on the main drag up to the show halls.
So please let's show them we can put on a great display and worth sharing their space with. ;D
8)
I'm hoping to join in the Sunday run up and stay for most of the Sunday but doesn't look like an over-nighter for me. I've been promised a burger off the barby at the GTM Owners Club stand too but I think the BKCC stand needs a GTM as GTMOC will have lots already!
Yes. I'll be there on one day.

Come on people this is the biggest Kit Car show in the UK!
Anyone else up for this then?
we will sort a convoy there if anyone would like this closer to the date. :)
Hey everyone,
I'm all for joining up with the convoy on the Sunday if OK?
Will have to join you all on the Fosse Way though as I live in Swindon.
Shame I can only stay for the Sunday though :(

No problem. where will it be best to meet up with you? I'm guessing Cirencester? :)
I'm also thinking of going a bit earlier as I'm only staying for the one day. I'm thinking I might leave at 7am to get there by 9 but we can do 2 convoys if that's to early for the people staying longer.
So please can people say what they would like to do.
1, Meet up for convoy at 7 am
2, Meet up for convoy at 8 am or a bit later
3, you will make your own way there
All subject to weather of course. :)
Moleman option 1.
what about everyone else?
Put me down for this i'm thinking that i can get the car ready in the time required to get to this one. it won't be "finished" finished but it will be road legal and hey when are they ever finished. put me down for the early convoy with you moleman!
i will be going for the one day only so want to get there as early as possible. Is there anything else i need to know for this one?
Fletch
I'm thinking I'll go for the 8am convoy. I'm still waiting for a confirmed date for my front shocks to come back from being refurbished (they said it would be 2 days a week ago!) so I might still be bolting the shocks on at 7am.
As I'm slightly north of Bristol, has the route been confirmed yet so I can find a suitable rendezvous? I note Ianciders earlier comment about avoiding the Badminton horse boxes but I think the horse trials are the following weekend (wonder if they'll be found guilty this year). If you are sticking with A420 I might join at Wick, if going up the A46/A429 I'd suggest the lay-by near old sodbury hill fort, just after the garage beyond the Cross Hands lights.
Is the 8am start from central Bristol? If so, after a bit of faffing around I suppose it might take half an hour to get to either of these possible rendezvous?
Fletch you don't need anything as all kit cars get let in free. I think the passenger pays £10.
We will probably meet at the Willy Wicket BS36 1DP then head up the westerleigh rd to the A46. :)
Are we doing a rendevous at the White Harte, Bridgeyate as last year? I would go for a 8 a.m meet from there. I took a packed lunch last year and was glad of it, I found the food expensive and not up to much. Can always change your mind if you see something you fancy.
At the moment I'm thinking the Willy Wicket until I get a better response as to who wants to do what then that can easily be changed. ::)
I will hopefully be there one day, also dependant on the Tiger passing MOT at the weekend. I will meet there as I will be travelling from Gloucester.
Just a little update on out shared pitch with the Pilgrim boys and girls. They will be having a BBQ going through the day so if you want to chuck a burger or 2 on feel free there may be even some freebies going as well from the Pilgrim club.
Let's just hope the sun shines for the show weekend. ;D
8)
Just looking and I will probably meet up with the convoy at northleach
So please can people say what they would like to do.
1, Meet up for convoy at 7 am at Willy Wicket
2, Meet up for convoy at 8 am or a bit later At Willy Wicket (but may change)
3, you will make your own way there
All subject to weather of course. :)
Moleman option 1.
fletch_306 option 1.
Sanzomat option 2. (meet lay-by just after the garage beyond the Cross Hands lights)
Benchmark51 option 2.
Stevel option 3.
what about everyone else? :)
I'm up for option 1. Good idea to bring your own sandwiches. Wifey will be bringing Cake - that should get the numbers up!
Ian
2 or 3 for me but I cant see a convoy holding together all the way there?

2 or 3 for me but I cant see a convoy holding together all the way there?
We managed about 15 last year without any problems. :)
That's cos I kept a steady drive apart from the horseboxes. It can be done, if anyone gets stuck at some lights then we pull over and best to have a car that stands out near the rear of the convoy so the lead can tell if anyone's missing.
We're going up on the Saturday this year so will.have the pitch ready for your arrival. Will stop by and pick up the banner Colin one eve this week if that's ok.
8)
Wouldn't it be better to find your own way up at your own pace not worrying about getting separated but meeting up at
a café or car-park not far from Stoneleigh and then convoying in.....just my 10 pennith. ::)
Probably going to be Option 3 for me.
(No guarantee what time I can get away from home!)
Convoy's aren't that hard to keep together, as long as everyone wants to stay together. It's not like we're racing up but keeping a decent speed the route only has a few places (considering the distance) where other cars can push in and they can be either turn off soon after, get past or stay there. There is also the services just after the Cirencester ring road to re-group (that's about half way)
8)
What I should have said is anything is possible with Bri at the front ;)
Option 1 for me.
I'll join the 7am convoy at the Cirencester stop off.
Can someone let me know the estimated time I'll need to be there?
Thanks.
will also see if I can get the wife to bake :)

Does that mean we had better pack our passports and learn some russian words? ;D ;D
Balders1973 =We can meet you at the Travelodge Hotel - Cirencester GL7 5DS which is about half way for us so good time for fuel & wee stop. It will probably take us an hour from the Willy Wicket so about 8.15am :)
So please can people say what they would like to do.
1, Meet up for convoy at 7 am at Willy Wicket

Balders1973 option 1 (Travelodge Hotel - Cirencester GL7 5DS 8.15am)

Put me down for option 1 unless the route passes further towards Bath after the meet, in which case I can be waiting in a lay-by somewhere and tag on the back.
Got your other PM Moleman, am organising it today.
You can meet us on the lay-by where Sanzomat is meeting the second convoy if you want James. :)
Thanks Moleman, a more civilized start for me then!
Am I reading this right, there will be 2 separate convoy's coming up roughly an hour apart?
8)
Well-ah, so you will have to organise 2 champagne receptions now. :o ;D ;D
Yes Bri. The early shift & the slightly later early shift.
My wheel arches have only just gone to the paint sprayers so it's going to be another bloody close one for me. ::)
Got my shocks back yesterday so all being well I should have mine all back together in time!
Tiger passed the MOT today so weather willing will be there on Sunday, see you there!!
I'm looking at a mid week MOT here i have my fingers crossed coz nothing seems to be easy right now. So looking forward to it but very nervous.
That,s good to hear Steve see you there, good luck Peter. :)
Sorry Colin, can't see myself going now. Missed a corner coming back from Track Developments so the car is in a bit
of a mess at the moment.....the Audi A6 estate I hit didn't feel a thing though!!!!! :( :(
What a bummer :(. How bad is it? Pictures ?
Still have a week and loads of help available.
Sorry to hear this mate. Just after the spray job as well. how bad is it? :(
Interesting thread:
"Should be ready, might be ready, skin of my teeth, BANG not ready"
Sorry to hear the bad news Paintman hope you are okay.
Ian
Chaps,
I'm contemplating trailering my work-in-progress up to Stoneleigh if the weather is good as a few folk have said they'd like to see it.
Does anyone happen to know if I can get in for free with a kit car being towed?
Wow great effort. You should do, I got in to the Exeter show with mine on a trailer. Any passengers will still need to pay.
See you there
8)
I'm sure I saw a note on the website about having to be in the kit car rather than towing.
I'll be at the show for both days ;D
I'll make my own way there, so I'll see you all on the club stand.

You are right. That's annoying.
Strictly speaking, I think that driving a kit car allows free entry for the driver. Anything else pays. Although I went 2 years ago driving a van, told the fellah on the gate I was the service van with BKCC and he let me in free. So take a chance, it's not big bucks anyway. ;D
I will be going up on Sunday. Is there anything I need to know. Do I just askwhere the stand is thanks
There will be a great big sign on the left as you go in I think. I'm taking some food and drink as I found this to be way over priced, other than that take the next years worth of beer tokens.:D :D
It has always been you get in free only by driving your kit car there, anything else including passenger always have to pay but you can try to blag it. you never know. 8)
We do have a big bright orange 4 meter flag now so look out for that. Our pitch is quite close to the entrance. :)
The new flag to look out for.

After driving through the main gateway just go straight ahead, when you see the Westfield club on the right, we'll be on the left. :P

Not sure what the weather will be doing but for the 7am convoy we will be leaving by 7.10am at the latest. So if your late or the weather is too crap especially for the roofless cars then no worries we may see you there later. 8)
If anyone currently planning on doing the early run does find themselves a bit on the late side then come and find me in the layby on the A46. I'm happy to PM my mobile to the option 1 guys so you can let me k now to look out for you.
I will be making my own way up to stoneleigh on Sunday thanks
Considering we've got nearly 500 members now, and only around 15 of us are going. I do ask myself whats going on? we should be showing closer to 50 cars at least :'(
Come on peep's. It's the biggest event of the year. :P

See you all there but not in my Robin Hood 7. Its going to get a good kicking soon if it does not behave. Anyway after 20 years of being built it will double the mileage on the clock.
well I'm sorry to say I won't be there. Ian will no doubt take over the early convoy. My car is still waiting for it's wheel arches to return. >:( :( Long story to which I'm not going into. I know I can probably get a lift with one of you guys but I need to be home early & driving up is part of the fun so take loads of pictures & I will be there next year. :)

Based on Dave leaving at Warmley at 8.00 I'm guessing around 8.15 at the A46 layby so about 8.45 at Cirencester. Sorry guys, I wont be there this year , not really up to it ???
Hope all who go have fun
Hello guys, I've been very quiet here of late, things a bit chaos. I've got the roof packed and will be raring to go. Can anyone tell me where the cross hands roundabout is? I can find the location anywhere via Google?!
Is the route taking the a420 to the a46 at tog hill and then over the m4 as last time? Also I will need the fuel stop en route again I think.....
I'm leaving at 8 a.m. from home and will pass the White harte at 8 .01'ish, we can meet there and will go to the meet with sanzomat at the layby after the Cross Hands at 8.15 'ish. Apo loggies if this is double dutch as I've just been up the local and I'm about to zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Current forecast looks like leaving a bit later = quite a bit dryer.
Will be watching with interest how it develops during the day but if it stays like this I'm tempted to grab another half hour in bed and leave at 8.30 and maybe miss all the showers!

The cross hands is a pub on a crossroads/traffic lights on the A46 about 2-3 miles north of M4. Just north of there is a garage and just beyond that is a layby - thats where I'll be.
I was hoping to join a convoy on Sunday, but looking at the weather forecast for tomorrow, I'm now planning on going up on Monday.
See you Monday
Iainl
It seems a shame we are not all going up together. Despite the horse boxes last year, the site of us all in convoy was more enjoyable for me than the show itself. I don't want to throw a spanner in the works at this late stage but couldn't the early birds have an extra coffee before setting off and those who like a little more sleep get to bed half hour earlier and we all leave together at 7.30?!
Anyway, either way I've got the roof on so bring on the rain :)
Well, we've made it and set up. Good run up. ;D
Banners are up and fire pit going. See you all tomoz. ;)

CC Cyclone and everybody - we could make one big convoy.
It is a good point and I will now be leading the convoy in lieu of Moleman. Crash Test Dummy will be tail gunner.
The Convoy will now leave leave Willy Wicket at exactly7:30 and can also collect joiners at the A46 layby 0.5m north of Cross-Hands (Old Sodbury) at about 07:55. We will pass through slowly so just hang on our tail for a rolling link-up.
The midway stop will be the Esso Services on the A429 junction just outside Cirencester at GL7 5DS Anybody who gets left behind - just link-up with us there.
I will bring a few crib sheets for those with co-drivers. Journey time 2h20mins plus stop of 20 mins. ETA therefore = 10:10 at best - we may face some traffic in the Cotswolds due to the Bank Hols
WEATHER LATEST - Light showers 07:00-08:00, 10 degrees, Dk Cloud 11:00, Light cloud & 14 degrees as we arrive, small shower at 15:00 possible then hazy sun into the evening
See you all bright an early. Top Gear rules apply - we will leave on time and late-comers might catch as at the midway or we will see you there STAND 76A
Ian
Looking at the weather, and my exo car with no weather protection, it looks like Monday for me :(
Can I still park in the club stand?
cheers - Balders
Ian,
Good plan, I just hope the other guys log on and see the plan, although I guess everyone will make it there one way or another.
Will be in the lay-by ready to tag on by 7.45 and so will hook on the back as you pass. I don't have satnav in the cyclone so will try to keep up but will dig out an old school map just in case.
See you all tomorrow.
Come on Balders get the waterproofs out :P
/ I will be the one with the roof on ::)
OK then its 07:30 at the Wiily Wickes, I will top up with fuel and see you all there.
Lets hope for a good weekend!! :-*
It may be Monday for me too, will see in the morning!
Just a quick note to say that I will be attending and bringing up the rear of the convoy.
See you in the morning!
Apologies guys I have to pull out the car has issues and will just not make it tomorrow. I have been working so hard to get it there but unfortunately it just can't happen. I hope you all have a great day/ couple of days.

I'll bring forward my arrival at the A46 layby to 7.55 then. I've texted Dave (Benchmark51) and Mike Bishop to alert them to the earlier rendezous so hopefully they'll get the message.
The Cirencester stop was going to be at the Little Chef/Travelodge services just the far side of the A417 junction. I thought it was a Texaco, not Esso?
See you in the morning!
I'd wear the waterproofs - but the wife ain't so keen!
I will be there Monday weather permitting, bearing cakes to make up for being a wimp :P
Well, I guess my stupiditus isn't as bad after all. ::) It would be madness to set out on a 90 mile trip in the rain with no roof or doors. I'll take Rex over the woods and get wet for an hour and come home to dry clothes and roast beef and yorkshire pud. :P
Tomorrow looks the better plan, so 8.am. start from Warmley A420, A46 ....... as originally planned for me, may see other topless ites en route.
I'm at the cross hands layby.
A real note of caution - the White lines on the A46 are incredibly slippery. If anyone passes anywhere selling underwear en-route it would make the remainder of my journey a bit more comfortable.
Take it easy.
I can also confirm the cyclone ain't that comfortable for a quick nap.
Benchmark,
Are you coming through Cirencester?
Would be good to hook up en route.
Sun's out. Just breezy. And tomorrow is supposed to be better.

Yes, after Tetbury (A433)(A429)and through Cirencester. I don't know what time, depends on traffic. If you PM me your mobile number I can let you know when I am nearing Cirencester. Dave

It's brightened up down here a bit, although it has been threatening all morning. Got a little wet over the woods but not bad. Had our roast beef and put one up ready for tomorrow. Just got to polish off the apple crumble and ice cream, then time for a kip! See you tomorrow. Dave
Hi, Dave (benchmark51),
I was planning to meet sanzomat this morning at the layby on the a46, but as it was raining and I don have a roof so I decided to leave it until tomorrow, what time would you be passing the cross hands tomorrow?
Another great year at Stoneleigh. :)

Great day in the end. Once it stopped raining (just after 9:30) bit windy but stayed dry. ;D even better tomorrow.

I will be leaving Warmley at 8 a.m., so should reach the layby just past the Cross Hands around 8.20 'ish.

Hi Dave,
PM sent with details - looking forward to the trip up.
Carl
Sun's out with clear blue skies. Gonna be a cracking day.

Yesterday was a great day.
Logically it self-selected visitors as those with a roof but in the end the weather was kind n the end. The rain stopped as we arrived and then the sun came out. The ground dried and and the exhibits were all very good.
Met loads of people there and it was quite a social event. Met members Matt from Swindon and Flipper for the first time. Flipper will help us with our project. We also gained a new member for so look out for Boyo in the next couple of days. Had a very good chat with Ian Stent and he made us a great offer (see below). He is also very keen to run our new project as a running article.
Also had a long chat with Dynamic Ed and it is good to see him up and about again. He is managing his condition very well and his determination is just stronger. He is resigned to the fact that he cannot do track-days any more but he is driving again. He too is going to be an avid supporter of our new project. (I'll post details in the right thread)
And the special offer from Ian Stent..... - the best stand right at the centre of the Castle Combe Show on 20th June. We have Gold passes - 30 so far and he can issue up to 40. At this point we have 22 volunteers so we have another 18 top spots if you want to be part of the prime exhibit in the show!
Thanks to Bulldog Bri for organising a paddock for an exhibit space - it was amazing! And thanks too to Moleman for the Flag it was very eye catching and the very first thing you saw a you entered the show.
Today with the better weather we should see more attendance. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Club banner looks great!

Eh up, Think Anna's been at the sherry again! Australian piccies ;D ;D
I hope you all made it back okay today. Hopefully before it started raining! If you have got back feeling a little damp this evening, if its any consolation you probably would have been wetter if you'd driven back yesterday evening - I came through what must have been one of the heaviest showers I've ever seen somewhere between Northleach and Cirencester at about 6.45pm Sunday. I'd only stopped to put my hood up about 5 miles before as I'd set off in sunshine but I could see the sky was dark ahead. Glad I did!
Thankfully my fast idle problem seemed to have cured itself by the time I set off and it behaved okay all the way back. A few more screeches from my alternator belt and a few more flashes of the charge light but didn't run out of electricity. Unlike the yellow 7 that had broken down in Didmarton. I stopped to see if I could help but the terminal had broken off his alternator and there wasn't enough thread left to attach the wire. He'd driven until he ran out of charge and was waiting for the breakdown service. He was an Apple County guy on his way back to Taunton - hope he got back okay.
Anyway, I had a great time. It was really good to meet some of the faces I'd read posts from on the forum but hadn't seen in the flesh.
Looking back at the pictures I took they are nearly all of gearbox brackets on various GTMs so probably not much interest in me posting them!
Well my day went off badly. Car cleaned an polished and off I went, only to reach near Cirencester when I smelt burning oil. Pulled over to see the dipstick had come out and dumped oil every where.
So whilst waiting there I was greeted by a Nigerian student who wanted to buy it an send it back to Nigeria, if he had the money I would have done it how I was feeling. I was then joined by three members of BKCC who were meeting there.
My wife brought oil and I drove back with no damage. It looks like the dipstick had got twisted on the windage tray so although in was vibrated out. massive clean up as a little oil goes a long way and a lot goes everywhere. :(

Sorry to hear you had problems, at least its an easy fix, albeit messy! I know what you mean about a little going a long way...
Sorry to hear about your problems Spaximus, are you sure what caused it? I've had problems with my Zetec blowing it's dipstick out with crankcase pressure, and was cured by removing the one way valve on the outlet to the breather box, but I don't know what engine you're running.
It makes one hell of a mess doesn't it :o >:(
Wow, what a show. Both our dogs behaved (and Micky and Sammy ;D) the trailer earned it's keep for another year as Anna packed everything she possibly could and more, couldn't believe how much we took. (though we were 2 dogs and a child heavier than normal.)
With the new pitch we are now sharing with the Pilgrim club We've plenty of room and a much more prominent position in the show, just a shame the forecast was bad through the week possibly putting some off, but luckily the actual show times it stay dry and fairly sunny throughout, so hopefully with a good forecast we'll fill that pitch next time :P
Was also good to meet up with a few more members and put faces to names. And possibly some new members to be ;)
We finally got away from the show around 5 and home by 7:30 again no problems with either car (much to my relief) :P
Sorry to hear about all the others that had problems and had to miss out, hope your sorted soon with them. ::)
8)
Yes, pretty sure as there is not a lot of crankcase pressure when you take the breathers pipes off. On the VX engine with a shallow sump you have a baffle plate with a hole in it and that is a bit misaligned I suspect.
How I found it was when I had it running and pushed the dipstick in and you could just hear the ticking as it was pushed away from the hole in the plate.
I will however be fitting a spring to make sure as it is mainly a track car so don't want it letting go on track.
Thanks to you especially Brian and Anna for being our genial "our hosts"
In tent as big as a Palace and in our compound that could have been a paddock, you were

I was a great day today and really enjoyed meeting up with old and new members. Anna's refreshment service was much appreciated! Sorry I had to leave early but parental taxi duties were required. Hope to see you all again soon.
Thanks guys! ;D Was no trouble. Glad to be of service! ;). Another successful year at Stoneleigh.
Dam I wish my car was on the road. It looked a good day. :(
I had an enjoyable ride up to Stoneleigh, kept a couple meets on the way. Found a casualty at Cirencester, a 7 that spat all it's oil out :'(. At one point we had seven in convoy however the 2 cobras behind me didn't get past an HGV, then missed the lights so that was the last I saw of them.
I wanted to find some Caterhams to get measurements for a half hood, but the series 3 is 200mm shorter
from screen to rollbar. Mostly because the rollbar is angled forward, also has 2 slight bends each side. Mine has a single 90deg bends and is verticle. Could change that easy enough, also my screen scuttle is steel so easy to change screen position and rake. So I reckon it's 'do-able'
Overall for me I thought the show was ok, but just ok. The salesman on the Caterham stand said monday was better attended, but understandable because of the weather.
The high point was the home made eccles cakes courtesy of Carl's SWMBO, which kept me going as I left my packed lunch at home :-\ :-\.
The ride home was spoilt by some 'ar4ole' in a black BMW X5 who doesn't know what double white lines mean >:(. A little rain at Tetbury, but got home dryish so a good day out.
Hi all I went up on the Sunday. Couldn't stay to long as my co driver got soaked as we went through alot of wate. Imight be wrong but stoneleigh did not seem as big to me as last year. Less halls and trade stands inside
There are normally a few empty stands in the halls but that's just how the industry is at the mo' :( And I don't think the public see many kit cars out on the roads like they could.
How often do you see another kit car out on the road when driving around? For these shows to get bigger we need our cars seen out and about to inspire others to get building or restoring in turn this will boost the industry. Support for clubs such as ours is vital to the whole scene.
It was good to see you there. Hope you can make it to more shows and meetings.

Had a nice day on Monday, the weather was good and it was great to meet a few new members.
Anna and Bri were perfect ambassadors for the club and welcomed visitors to the stand with great enthusiasm and sometimes a nice cup of coffee too :).
Just made it back home before the rain.
Our new stand was a success

hi,
had a good day, first time i'd been there. had a good run up with benchmark51. we were luckyl to get back to Yate without to much rain.
nice to meet people from the club, i'm sure i will meet more of you thurday.
Good day!!
I departed on the Sunday, Met two cars at the Willy Wicket with the Brake light flashing and rain, drizzle at best.
We stopped at Cirencester where I topped up with brake fluid, much to my relief as its not nice wiping water from the electrics
and wondering if the brakes are about to fail, especially as I was behind Ian's very clean Westfield.
We drove into and out of a few lakes on the Fossway, and now my rear lights thought it was Christmas every time I touched the brakes, seems there is also an earth problem some where.
As previous threads the show was great, the sun came out, the BKCC stand was very evident the minute you gained access
and I thought it was well attended considering the weather.
Once I had spent my allowance and not bent the credit card I thought I would head home before more rain with the roof down.
Big mistake!! did not quite get home before the black skies opened, I had just put my coat on when the drizzle started again, as long as I was going forward I would stay dry?
Until that is the rain came down so hard it was coming in from behind, no garage forecourts around to hide under or stop and put up the roof, so I carried on, gritting my teeth thinking its only a passing shower, until I was so wet I lost the will to stop.
I got home opened the garage and dumped the car, stripped off and dived into the shower, then spent 20 minutes telling the wife what a great show she missed.
Roll on next years event!!

Thanks to everyone who posted photos and reports. Brings back some great memories. Sorry to those who suffered a few mechanical gremlins and weather issues.
Cheers Adrian
What a great day out.
Started with a chat in the Cirencester layby with Sanzomat and his oily problems,
then upto the fossway with Mike and Dave.
Wasn't expecting to lead the way, but apparently I have the bigger sat nav ;)
It was a pleasure to park on the BKCC stand and get to know you guys a bit better.
I even met the Gaffer !
Thanks to Anna for the cuppa, always goes down well :)
Hope to see a few of you tonight at the riverside - Carl

Not guilty! I've got plenty of problems but as far as I know all my oil is still in the sump! I went up on Sunday, not Monday.
Yes, not much to add. A good run up with Ian, Barry and SumoV8 trying to avoid the puddles and keep the electrics dry and then joined by sanzomat in Cirencester who had a lie in :P
I had to leave earlyish in the afternoon and stumbled across SumoV8 again on the way home. I did wonder how you were getting on when I hit a biblical storm in the cotswolds :o Hope you and the electrics have dried out and are back to normal. :)
I enjoyed the show and the run back in the rain was actually good fun. I had the roof on, heater on, radio on and enjoyed a comfortable cruise home. My new flat blade wipers and rain-x are a million miles away from the old things that just seemed to smear the window lightly.
Thanks to Bri & family for making me feel very welcome, a bugger that I missed Phil and the other Cyclone but i am sure our paths will cross sooner or later.
weird double post..
Sorry Sanzomat,

Ah cheers Bri, thats why a guy came over and mistook my car for one, said he knew of one with a Rover V8 in the front. Don't think so as mine is mid engined ::) It does look remarkably similar though to be fair.
Really pleased everybody had a good couple of day's despite the odd soaking ;D
