You are about 3 years too late.
I had 3 Herald based kitcars here that were sold with a log book, sold as a rolling chassis and broken and sold as spares.
I have a pair of rear driveshaft/hub assemblies but all else is gone.
Back in the day we got Leaf springs reconditioned by either Chapmans, Cemetery lane, Knowle (probably long gone) or Stones Springs in Days Road.
You may have a leaf broken, probably in the stack above the diff.

Of course its not the same as a TR4 - forgot Heralds had that wierd transverse spring - Rimmers have one in stock....
There are still many places which retemper springs, mostly in the North. Jones springs in Birmingham is probably the nearest.
I was involved with Stones Springs which was in Bristol (which was owned by Serck Marston) and getting them redone is still an easy job.
If he ride height is low you can also have them recambered to lift the car, however on the transverse spring it does throw out the geometry as going higher gives more positive camber on the wheels.
As Dave said it is likely you have a cracked one or more likely they have just gone soft.
Thanks for all the replies guys. Perhaps I didn't explain fully enough. The problem is indeed that the spring has weakened, there are no broken leaves as I took them all out, cleaned and greased them, when building the car. Build instructions advise removing certain leaves due to the reduction in body weight, and on my first Midge I was able to achieve exactly what I wanted by experimenting with removing/replacing different ones. The wheels then sat fairly upright which didn't seem to affect the handling, but looked much better than the standard Herald somewhat exaggerated positive camber. The reason I don't want to go down the retempering route, is that this would return the car to the original setting and then I would be back to square one. I'll keep looking for another spring and then I can play around until I get it right. Mike.
