Title: Trike scooter!
Post by: gingerpaul on 15, June, 2010, 10:46:15 PM
Was messing about with a trike scooter designed for disabled people today. You strap your wheelchair straight into it and ride about on it. It turns out you can also ride it like a stand up jetski. For a laugh I've made a wee video and thought some of you might enjoy it.

There is a chap who drives a blue one around Bristol, he's been using it for years, can't keep a good biker off the road  ;D

Looks like a scooter front end, how does it drive the rear wheels?

As far as I can tell the front is the front off a scooter. The right hand side is the back end off a scooter. The left hand side has an electric reverse in it. I believe only the rear right wheel is driven. I tell you what though, it's surprisingly fast. Too quick to open it up in that small patch of grass.

I reckon it'd be great fun to ride about on even if you're able bodied. Loads of space around your legs. No helmet. Standing up riding position. I bet it does 60mph. It's just like riding a stand up jetski if anyone has tried one of those, except you don't need to keep the power on to go round corners on this.   :D
