Becouse I cant think of anything worse than sitting down to breakfast, wet through. We dont all have the luxury of a soft/hard top to keep us dry, so if it looks like rain on the sat.Ill leave it to the sun.and if its rain on the sun. Ill not go.
:)Yep, Saturday for me.

I have just spoken to John Cooke at European Promotions. There is no public camping - far too many health and safety issues.
We can still be allocated a BKCC stand if anyone is interested in showing thier car and promoting the club for the weekend?
"no camping at Exeter"
It's illegal anyway ( loitering with intent )
Phill, can you add me to the Saturday Run to Exeter list. Thanks
Less than two weeks to go on this one.
Any ideas or suggestions for a convoy to the Show ?
Meet-up points and times ?
When you say a run down are you talking of motorway or A38?
A303 or M5, I am easy.
From Shepton it doesn't matter.
Mark
Motorway is quicker but rather than choose I'm happy to go with majority rule on this one.
Meet times and places to be decided nearer the day.
I have added a poll at the top of the post so vote for your preference. (You will have to log in to see the poll)
Weather permitting I am up for Saturday. Will also invite the local RHOCAR mob.
Richard
If weather's good A38, if miserable M5. May need to leave you at Bridgwater exit to pick my brother up at Sutton Mallett.
Paintman and me are meeting at Podimore a few miles out side Yeovil on the A303. Then going down via Honiton onto M5 at Junc 28?? I think.

why not go down on M5 and come back on Aroad
Tony
Looks like the M5 is leading the convoy poll...
Cast your vote at the top of the page, you must be logged on to participate.
At least if we go on the M5 it will be a convoy, we will never stay together on the A38. - I like Tony's idea of coming back on the A38, that way, if we get split up it wont matter, so much as we are heading to different locations any way.
Also the motorway is great for a convoy run because you get to see all the other cars passengers looking at the kits.
Cheers
Mattsmev
For those of us travelling from Frome, Shepton area, can we arrange to meet up at the Taunton service station?, that way we can join the convoy?
Tony (Paintman) what do you think?

Couldent agree more, within a few traffic lights and a roundabout or two we wouldent have a convoy. Unless Bulldog Bri is in the lead that is.
So, as route choice is mixed almost 50/50 I will suggest we go down on the M5 meet Dixie and Paintman at Taunton then come back up the A38.
For those that this dosent suit we will see you at the show.

Could I propose Gordano Services as a suitable meeting point? The lorry park area is immediately visible as you enter off the roundabout and is usually quiet on Saturday mornings.

Could I possibly join you at the Cullompton roundabout, J28 ?
If this is too many stops then not to worry, having said that sometimes quick pullovers are fun and break the journey.
If you are leaving Taunton Dean at 9.15am then I reckon you will be at J28 at about 9.30am.
Looks like I could be scuppered. Builders have decided to park a skip in front of my garage after I asked them not to (GRRRR), now having to hope that work is completed before friday. May have to use tintop otherwise.
Thanks Guys. As long as the weather is half way suitable i'll meet you at Gordano Services lorry park, looks like an excellent convoy
Cheers

Ive had a look at the junction 28 bridge on Google maps and it dosent look like you can park up on it and wait for us like just a speed camera van. However, there is a service station just off the junction so we can meet you outside the Mcdonalds there at about 09.30.

Hi guys
I will also be heading that way in the Nova so would like to join up in convoy on Saturday. I will travel from Winscombe to Taunton Deane services and see you there, although you will probably pass me as I normally only do 60mph (it is a 1967 car!). Maybe I should be last in the convoy to the show or you'll all get bored travelling so slowly.
I may also do Sunday if the weathers fine.
See you.

Mick,
My experience is we don't normally travel as fast as 60mph. You may need to go at the front of the convoy if you want to go that quick. Whatever happens it will be great to see you. The more the merrier and the greater the spectacle.

I'm coming as well but not in the convoy as the car is not complete, so i will look out for a group of vagrants loitering !!!!
:D Hi guys.See you at Gordano serices.8 am Sat.Looking forward to it.

Hi Peterw,
Why not come along to Gordano Services ( you live so close ) , meet up with us and join the run down to Exeter. There will be at least six other non-kits. Come and introduce yourself.
We're meeting at 08:00 for 08:15 departure.
The "tintops" ( non-kits ) will run at the rear of the convoy.
Sorry peterw. Forgot to mention that we're meeting in the Lorry Park.
Pants. Weather forecast looks crap for Saturday. :(
Metcheck weather forcast currently ( Thursday 11:30 ) showing :-
SAT. Bristol wet before 7 Am but dry thereafter, Taunton showers 10-12 and Exeter showers all morning.
and
Sunday Bristol, Taunton & Exeter dry all day.
I can only make the Saturday run ( so, Wallnut if you still want a lift on Sat, PM or phone me ). Casino
Looks like I'll be going Sunday now, got to pick up a new horse Saturday from near Gloucester so Saturday's out :(
Enjoy the run guys :D
JB
Just seen Richard Angwin on TV, he says weather may be dry. National weather has it pi***ng down!!
Not sure what to do, make the call Friday night I suppose.
M
It's all change !
Metcheck now (14:50 Thurs ) showing Bristol, Taunton & Exeter all dry after 07:00 am .
I think you're right Dixie. Decision time should be Friday PM. ( I'm going on Saturday whatever the weather ).
By the way, Dixie. Pi***ing Down is in Dorset Isn't it ?
The weather seems to be improving by the hour. The BBC weather is now saying rain around 1.00am to 4.00am at night and then clear for the rest of the day so this could be a goer for the kitcars.....
I'm going on Saturday regardless, even if it is in the tin top in the rain. All of the bargains are gone by Sunday, or at least thats my logic which is probably wrong.
i'm going sunday hope theres some goodies left for me
Thanks Peter, but will be going in the kit whatever the weather, see you on the lorry park, Sat.
Tony
Got to drop out again, just to much going on here. >:(
If someone wants to pick up the club banner to take down give me a call. I'm home round 9ish. :(
8)
Looks like there may be a few showers.
50/50 at the moment, will get a better idea this evening and post accordingly.
Sunday is an option for me, Tony (Paintman) isn't looking forward the the M5 in the rain, he does have a good point.
Tony Searle is riding shotgun with me, he isnt bothered what day we go down.
At this late stage, can we change to Sunday? Or is Saturday cast in stone?

Not too keen to drive the Westy down the motorway in the wet (no doors, roof, windscreen). :o Yep, I can do Sunday. Forecast looks good. However, doubt we'll get many to swap at this late stage. :( Hopefully forecast will change otherwise, shame, t'was looking forward to 20 car cruise.
I can't do sunday, but the weather looks OK to me, no rain forecast after 7:00 in Bristol or Taunton, with the possibility of a light shower in Exeter in the morning. I fully intend to be at Gordano tomorrow morning. I have no roof, windscreen or sides to my car, so i hope the weather forecast is right! I'll just put my waterproofs on and see how it goes (If miss mattsmev, my 12 year old daughter, gets upset with the cold or wet i can even switch the intercom off)
See you tomorrow
Mattsmev
Watched all of the posts, and the weather and have decided to go on Sunday. Hope to see some of you there.
Weather report ( Metcheck ) as at 5:50 PM today, Friday
Dry after 07:00 AM all day for Bristol, Taunton and Exeter.
Sorry Didn't intend to confuse. My last posting was at 5;30 PM today and refers to Saturday's weather.

Adrian
Dixie and myself are know going on Sunday!!
Don't know where you lot are getting your forecasts from. All the ones i see for Exeter says it will be overcast with rain on and off all day!
Think Sunday will be a good idea......
If anyone is interested in a mini convoy for Sunday let us know or we will go by ourselfs :'(
Tony
I think I will go tomorrow (Saturday). Not sure if you want to pull over get me at the Cullompton Services (J28) stop at 9.30 / 9.45ish as originally planned?
If no reply, because we are all a bit undecided, then I will make my own way to the show.
Kevin
How many are going tomorrow now?
Lots of people on-line so we might find out soon
I'm going to switch to Sunday as well.
I don't mind driving my car in any weather, but there will be a lot less kit cars to look at (outside the show halls) if the weather's iffy.
I'll be at Gordano services from 08.00 to 08.15 on Sunday.
Count Steve and Alan in for Saturday Rain or Shine, Grand Prix on Sunday and a bathroom to decorate.
Will still aime for 08:00 at the lorry park as previously arranged.
May leave early afternoon and not stay all day as we have a lot to do.

I'm glad it never rained as well.
What country were you in? 8)
Didn't notice any rain on the way down and the stop at Taunton for people to cool down was well accepted. It was so warm that the M5 southbound stopped to admire the sunset, helluva turnout must've been for at leat 6 miles ;D
Iv'e been watching the forcasts on and off most of the day
All day they have been saying the weather is far more rain down at Exeter than in Bristol, and it really hasn't stopped here
Would appear they have got it totally wrong- yet again
I know where I would have my cutbacks
See you all at Gordano lorry park between 8 and 8:15am tomorrow. Is it just me and Dave Bence?

Well, certainly no rain today :) It was a little chilly but bright sunshine all day. Ace Fettler even came down again for seconds. It's always nice to see a few cars together. Real shame it didnt work out on Saturday :( Perhaps next year we can all go down on the same day 8) Well done to the Saturday crew for risking the weather - that actually didnt turn out as bad as expected.
Nice to see JB in the crowd, sorry mate seemed I didnt have long to chat.
A chilly meet at Taunton services.

The show was very good and appeared well attended. I managed to stock up with some microfibre cloths and some trim. Lots of other things to tempt but I resisted.
What did you buy?
Microfibre cloths for me too - just need instructions from David H on how to use them now
Glad i went down in a Tin Top now, although when down there I couldn,t find anyone maybe we need a banner to put along side members cars saying BKCC or something.
Pete ;D
A good day out I thought.
Plenty of nice cars to look at inside and outside and good weather too ;D
The micro fibre cloth stand must have done a roaring trade, as I bought two packs too :o
Also got some stainless fasteners, a wheel cleaning brush, a magnetic pick up tool and finally, some Autoglym polish. I'll also have to ask DavidH how to use it properly :D
Eight kit cars gathered at taunton Deane:

I also brought some microfibre cloths, some polish and a sponge to put it on!!!!!! dont tell the wife she'll think I am mad.
Also brought some door seals and a clock for the Dax.
oh yea and a hot dog, Paintman brought the coffee.
enjoyed the day, but cold. At Taunton I was as cold as a cold thing in a cold place, bloody freezing and I had a heater.
Very enjoyable day ;)........bit of a cold start (3 degrees) but managed to warm up with coffee at the Taunton stop.
Bought some glue for the winter re-upholstery/board project and a nice neck wrap which was very welcome on the trip home.
Some smart cars there which looked great in the sunshine. ;)

Enjoyed both days. Nice cars, good company and micro fibre cloths aplenty (I also bought some + some wheel cleaning micro fibre spongy things on sticks).
For those who were interestd in my intercom system see here http://www.starcom1.com (http://www.starcom1.com). The latest all singing and dancing unit now has bluetooth for the phone connection eleminating some of the wiring.

The intercom units look interesting. I did try to look up if these units would communicate with a two way radio, I couldn't find what frequency they used. For those not using a helmet it would be a cheap way to communicate.
The starcom units can be conected to pretty much any PMR446 "walki-takie". Although some of them are little more than kids toys the more expensive "profesional" ones give excellent performance. Matts Mev and I use Intek MT5050 units which give excellent range and performance when talking car to car via the starcom and helmet sets.
Like most of this type of thing the more you pay the better although on of the guys on saturday was using a cheap radio he got from Aldi and that was working quite well.

Great day out yesterday. Bit cold but nice and sunny. Lots of interesting cars to see.
Note to self: Take more cash next time.
Actually, thinking about it, probably just as well I didn't take too much cash. Just come back with a load of stuff I don't need. ;) :D
Starcom discussion now on a new thread.

Ibought a pair of goggles, which were great on the drive home, but when I got home and took a look in the mirror, I could see why people were laughing as I passed, what with my flying helmet and the goggles, I looked like Chubby Brown. lol
Tony
Maybe a new username in the offing there Tony? ;)
Tony, "Biggles" springs to mind........
