what is the best reading material

and i don't mean the top shelf, or fifty shades of Gray 
just a straw pole to ask which you think is the better read for a novice i've looked on line and found three for the kit car enthusiast

1) complete kit car
2)total kit car
c)kit car magazine
have i miss any?

CKC every time, although in order

1. CKC
2. TKC
3. Kit Car

CKC - run by Ian Stent and Adam Wilkins, real kit car enthusiasts in touch with the clubs and happy to support events.  Have been very supportive of the BKCC and will help promote anything we organise (kit car related of course)
TKC - run by Steve Hole who is very knowledgeable but articles tend to be a bit me and my mates with very little about clubs or the kit car buying public.  Also prints unnecesary articles on guitars in every issue and ocassionally on jam making!
Kit Cat - run by Den Tanner one of the most bitter and twisted people you could meet who for many years slagged of the other magazines in his own.  Has probably done more damage to the image of the kit car industry than any other person.

Hows that for an honest opinion?  No politically correct waffle on this forum, just good honest truth!

CKC is the best read in my opinion.

I agree with the above - in fact I advertise in each of them.

I would also recommend Track Driver mag - its a bit posh (Porsches  and stuff) but worth it for Mark Hales driver coaching articles. Its free to read on line.

In my speciality the best book to buy is Competition Car Suspension by Allan Staniforth. Its in CKC's book list. It covers and makes suspension and handling easy to understand but goes deep enough to enable you to design your own from scratch. Talking to people at Shows like Stoneleigh I have found that home builders that understand suspension have all read this book.
