Well today I got half-way to work (in the Mk Indy Blade) and lost my clutch  :o Being a BEC it meant you can still change up and down with out any issues. Good job I leave at 630am so not much traffic to hold me up at junctions.
Got to work and took my peddle off to find this;

Whilst it was off I had to give it a quick black and powder coat  :P

So after cutting the cable I re-connected but those little gub screws just would not go tight!! Off I went down the lane only for the cable to pull thru after two gear changes  :-[ :-[
So back to the workshop to re-do the cable but this time I also clamped it to the 5mm bolt. Worked atreat for now but I have just been to B&Q to buy some cable clamps just in case in happens again. Plus I will order a spare cable to carry in the car ready for next time..
Kits Cars are GREAT  :-*

Its all good fun

my throttle cable went on the cobra last year the recovery guy just used cable clamps and it worked fine

I have had 3 clutch cables go on my Marlin, the problem was the routing of the cable causing a weak point which wore through.  Thankfully Daves neighbour made and welded a new bracket and it has been fine ever since,  Just make the cable runs as smooth as possible and always have 2 cable clamps on the end just in case one fails - problem sorted. ;D

Well 14 months on and its a good job I carried those clamps  :o
I was only talking to Anna on Monday about the last time a cable went. So off to work I went and 1/2 mile into my trip the cable nearly went  :o Foot to the floor and I only had to lift it a few mm to obtain drive. Got to work and found this;

So out with the clamp and by the time I cut my cable (both ends) its a good foot shorter.. Best order a spare one ready for next year.
Mind you I have a few clamps in place this time  :D :D
