I got both my cars taxed for the next year at the same time. I did this over the net for ease, recieved both discs through the post today and the Tintop (scenic) the tax disc runs from 1st May for 12 months which is what I expected...

Then looked at the disc for my Bulldog and they've sent me one that starts 1st April for 12 months!!!! WHY???? I paid for both at the same time... They've robbed me of a whole month!!!!  >:(

All I know is if you apply for tax before the month end, the tax starts at the beginning of that month.

As for your scenic I dont know, does it expire at the end of April?

Bulldog Bri

Not quite Phil, You can apply for your tax disc no earlier than 5 days before the start of the new month which is what I've done, so I will be paying the DVLA offices in Filton on my way to work tomorrow to see what they say...

Excellent plan - hope the queues are short and the apologies are long.  Let us know how you get on

Oh, that's news to me. I stand to be corrected said the man in the orthopaedic shoes 8)

That reminds me. I have to tax my kit and van for a year tomorrow as well :(

Bulldog Bri

Went in to the DVLA offices yesterday and explained the problem. It was because I'd taxed my car online and the computer there takes it as the date of payment. I said that I'd only recieved it that morning (30th April) and that I wouldn't be able to drive it til the morning and that is MAY! I had to allow for posting time why don't they??? If I'd done it at the post office there wouldn't have been the problem as I'd done it the year before...

Anyway the upshot was they gave me a phone number to call over in Swansea as they couldn't help and they are now sending me a new disc (I hope)...

So if your car has been SORN over the winter, remember get your disc at the post office not online

Sounds like a result but (as seems to be the case these days) lots of associated hassle.  Incidentally, April 2010 has been one of the sunniest in the last 100 years.  Shame lots of us have been off the road.
