Alternator Bracket.

Some of you may know that so far this year after ever track day I have found my alternator bracket is either cracked or ever snapped at the welds.


So I decided to make my own without any welds & some nice big radius on the joints. So I cut some alloy block to size.


& started filling it.


I made it thicker & wider where I could due to the tight space it will be going in.



After that I sprayed it a few times over the day with a clear lacquer & keeping it in our little oven on a low heat to help bake it nice & hard.

Can you see it ok? 
Well it is on now & the alternator fits great. All I have to do is bring the right length bolts home that I left in work to try it out. So our Thursday meet will have to be to trail run. 



PS. This bracket may be a lot bigger but it weigh's 20 grams less than the steel one. That should please Hairy Santa

I used a bandsaw to get a big chunk out first then used a milling machine mate.

It just went to Cornwall & back & all ok so far mate.
